    I actually fixed my nano receiver thanks to this video, my 5v solder pad broke on mine, and thanks to you, I know that I could use the input leg or the regulator!

    I've now watched you destroy three boards. I have given you two suggestions in the past. You're not using them. So here they are again.
    (1) if you have a working board for a comparison use the diode function on your DVM. Test voltages to ground and see where they differ. May point out the problem.
    (2) when you do the power supply test, spray the board with 99% alcohol. Where it evaporates first is the hotspot. Focus your attention there.

    Woohoo! Finally a repair video! What’s with all that flying your doing lately! ;-)
    Thank you for always sharing your diagnostic thought process, I learn so much every video. I’ve now successfully replaced mosfets on 2 esc, thanks man!

      man... I like flying as much as I like repairing stuff... :) But if I don't have material to work with repairing stuff... I resume to the other love: flying :) Is that so bad?

  • @toddmarshall7573

    On power draw test before removing components spray while under power with 99% and see where evaporation happens first. Often immediately points out the short. In this case the MCU would probably evaporate very quickly. You would know the board couldn't be salvaged. You put it in your box of donor boards causing no additional damage. You may also try cleaning up the pads and pins on the MCU and reinstalling it. You may get lucky and you gain valuable practice at no cost or risk.

    My nanorx binds and and is receiving accurate telemetry data. I am able to reset and update its FW, BUT.... Betaflight doesn't recognize any input and there are no LED feedback from the rx. I've triple checked my connections and the outputs on my Crossfire output scripts. Crossfire tx is on 1 and Crossfire rx is on 2. I'm about to change out the rx with another when I get home from work, but would like to know if this one can be repaired. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you for this great video btw!

    how do plastic sockets and alike cope with the heat gun???

    • @LivyuFPV
      @LivyuFPV  5 лет назад

      You have to protect them and be sure to not pass the melting temp... The smt ones do cope with normal flow temps but if you exceed they can melt

    Finding the short: apply enough current to cause it to heat up slightly at the short. spray with alcohol. see where it evaporates fastest.

    • @LivyuFPV
      @LivyuFPV  5 лет назад

      Not the case here... The reg was heating like crazy... Changing reg same issue... Apply 3.3v at 3 amps maybe but the ideea was to explain to people :)

    • @toddmarshall7573
      @toddmarshall7573 5 лет назад

      @@LivyuFPV you missed a significant part of the explanation. First rule of restoration: don't disturb anymore than you have to.

    • @LivyuFPV
      @LivyuFPV  5 лет назад

      @@toddmarshall7573 well that is kind of a logical thing to do :) I was not really looking at fixing this but rather show that sometimes you cannot know what part is in short so the only thing to do is take them out one by one until you know :) do you have another technique except pushing lots of amps into the short and check the one that gets toasted? taking into consideration that one actually has a 3.3v power supply around

    • @toddmarshall7573
      @toddmarshall7573 5 лет назад

      @@LivyuFPV yes...and so do you. You just skipped that step. And you don't need to push massive amps. Just enough to make the part hotter than normal and identify it with the alcohol. A Li-Ion cell will do the trick in a 3.3V application. Another good troubleshooting technique is using the diode function of the meter. For this you need something for comparison.

Crossfire has given me headake everytime I want to bind or connect it to the Betaflight. They really need to have some good programmers and designers or very soon no one give a dam about their produkt anymore. I am tired of it allready
