Its always great to see you testing and showing your repairs and your thinking behind it . It helps me repair mine and my friends boards and esc, Thanks 🙏
Great vid. I have done the same thing, trying to get a few good ESCs from a pile of bad ones. What never fails is the all to common USB socket replacement. Pays for the hot air station many times over.
Good!! I want to try this on my burnt Flycolor ESC. I'm new to the hot air gun. I saw liquid flux in many hot air gun de-soldering video. Do I need liquid flux? Can I use my Burnley soldering paste which is about peanut butter consistency?
Ok lyv. I have the bardwell stack. You see alligator clips your using to power the esc. When you vonnect and make contact with the esc , is it suppose to spark ? Not much but its a spark and i dont have anything connected to the esc.
Hi livyu I've watched all your esc repair vids and have a issue I want you to help diagnose. I have a dys 4in1 20amp esc and motor 3 is showing signs that it's going bad. I've replaced the motor with a new one and ruled out the motor so now the issue is in the esc. The problem is motor 3 is dipping when applying throttle and is heating up the motor. Is this mosfet related or something else? What should I be looking for?
Dang makes me sad to see three KISS ESCs completely dead 😢 I've had a few that had a MOSFET just stop working for no reason. Makes me think a bad FET made it through QC and onto the ESC resulting in what happened here. I also think what Flyduino should start doing is enlarging the holes on the ESC to 5mm to fit a soft mount grommet to help with taking shock out of the system when the quad crashes hard. I had one catch on fire over the weekend at the race but the ESC was hard mounted. The other three race rigs I had with me had KISS 4in1 ESCs that were soft mounted and didn't have a issue with them.
Hey there mate! love your videos! We need more tutorials on how to repair our eletronics! i have a Kakute F4 aIO V2 that stopped reading voltage and current , otherwise it works perfect, any ideas? what could be broken? it doesn't even read voltage when plugged via usb. Thanks a lot! and Keep up
Could be. I honestly think Flyduono should start enlarging the mounting holes to 5mm to add in a soft mount grommet to allow the ESC to 'float' when getting into hard crashes so all the shock doesn't go through the ESC. I've had three ESCs stop working and had a MOSFET stop working with no damage to it. It could also be a QC issue not at Flyduino, but at the manufacturing plant for ON Semiconductor. If they had a few slip through their QC then this could be the reason why a FET stops working on the ESC.
@@BikeGuyFPV Can you not drill the holes out to be larger for grommets? Ive been doing this on my Hobbywing 4 in 1's for awhile now with great results... But I'm not sure about the traces on the KISS.
@@smooth_ops2942 yes, you can. I talked to someone who had a dead one and they checked. They said the max size would be 6mm. I drilled mine using a 3/16 inch drill (4.8mm) with no issues. Then slip the grommet in and it's soft mounted.
well... they all are using lead-free solder which has a melting temperature of around 230-250 degrees C. So you need to bring up the board and part temp up to that value. So depending on what heat gun you have it could vary from 300 to 400 degrees.
Some of us use KISS since it's easy to use and setup. But that's the price you pay to be able to use such tech. BF for instance is cheap but imo is a nightmare to setup because of all the settings you have to go through but files okay. It feels stiff on the sticks compared to a KISS rig with the exact same rates setup. Then there is FL1 which for one I don't trust their boards or their hardware. Their stuff is not mature at all and is over hyped.
@@BikeGuyFPV so much truth in what you just said not to mention how over filtered f1 flys. Feels like im just kind of pointing the quad in a direction and letting it just do whatever vs me feeling as though im in full direct control.
@@BikeGuyFPV dont get me wrong.. i fly only kiss currently. 4 quads all v2 but the price and how phinicky they get on minor crushes is just too much. i still have an old BF beater that doesn't feel the same as the kiss but pretty decent for the price and fact it hs zero issues and .. if tuned well it could produce really nice footage. mind you le drib and RR flying BF and they seem to produce amazing footage.
I never used 4in1 escs. Because of noise and cost considerations(when one does get killed). Even if I never killed one and I consider myself a frequent flyer... usually I think esc are killed from stress or bad soldering :)
blackalic I'd argue that flying is also a waste of time but I do that too. And anyway he ain't just repairing he's sharing knowledge and experience for FREE and for that I will make time

I enjoy your videos. Thanks for taking the time to explain how to fix our FC and ESC
its nice to see your work in progress... thx for showing us!

Sometimes it does make smome sparks depending onnthe voltage

Yes mosfet related for sure check all the mosfets on channel 3 for dubious signs
What brand of flux are you using?

i will try and have a look, maybe do a video about it cause i heard about it
So did it weld to the board?
Very interesting. Are these KISS ESCs more fragile than other 4-in-1s? Designed with tighter internal conductor spacings?

Hey can u fix my esc? I have a f7 50amp esc from tmotor
Thanks for all this Repair Videos ❤ You realy learn me fixing Stuff

@@LivyuFPV Thank you for your videos and time showing us how to use a hot soldering gun. Now make some more videos lol
Hello :) can you make some video about your geat which you use to repair ? Thanks :) nice videos
I also have a kiss 4in1 that doesn’t work! However, the new one I received works like a million bucks.
thanks for sharing! learn even more with fails!
Can I send u mine? Will you repair it for me if possible?
So good! Skills!
lol :D I probably gave that esc a hard time :D was though that it lasted only for 2 days of flying :/
Don't you want to try to repair it with copper foil?
ahahahahahahahahah write to me in private i will show you some tries I did not include in the video :))
Kiss is fir rich folks. the kind that spends 3k on a macbook..
I would have to say that is false since i freestyle only kiss and even race it but yet have never owned a crapple product in my life.

David R. Cohen, they seem to but kiss is not about the end result but all about how it feels when flying it. :) At least this is why I use it.
4in1's are dead to me. I fly individual esc's, spedix es20 on 6s. 9$ a piece.

Oh come on..that boards are dead..waste of time to repair...
You don't know until you get the hot air station on and start working on it to determine if it's worth saving or not.
