Disney's Aladdin is a platform game based on the 1992 film of the same name developed by Virgin Games USA. The game was released by Sega for the Sega Genesis on November 11, 1993 as one of several games based on the film, including another game ( tasvideos.org/... ) that was released in the same month by Capcom for the Super NES.
The game is one of the best-selling Genesis games with four million copies sold. It also received a number of adapted ports for other platforms, such as the NES, Game Boy, Amiga, and DOS computers.
This is a 00:34.44 second improvement over Flip ( tasvideos.org/... )'s previous run ( tasvideos.org/... ). The improvement comes from new tricks and better optimization.

This movie has a full Atlas Map encode ( • Disney's Aladdin (Any%... ), which shows the standard encode overlaid on a zoomed out map.
My favourite part of the movie was when Aladdin defeated Jafar by whipping 30 apples at his head.
A masterpiece of cinema.
Had no idea there was a way to skip the Cave of Wonders boss. Good tech all around!
Yeah that blew my mind. Loved watching the Escape level get bodied.
Neither I.
I was today years old finding that out
God, Virgin games did some amazing animation back in the day.
They had the resources straight from Disney. They had the original animation team behind the movie provide them with animation cels for the game. Virgin just had to translate those into game sprites.
@@pejnismiggle and optimise to fit them into cartridge
I love that this is the best selling non-Sonic game on the Genesis. Good times.
The run pauses for a second at 2:58 to reflect on all the heinous crimes of Sebastian the crab.
As saying goes, you can't gain something without sacrificing something else in the return. Aladdin saved lots of time, but the poor lad suffered through a lot of frequent and intense pain to achieve this result. I hope he got psychotherapy for PTSD that this speedrun surely got him.
I know I’m on a speed running video and I’m thoroughly impressed by the TAS, but I really forgot just how far the developers went with the soundfont available. This game has incredible arrangements and perfect tone for the theming of the movie’s music
5:57 see what you did there) nice touch)
Битмейкеры, хехе, мне тоже нравится, когда спидранеры так делают
"Yeah!"
Aladdin's last words before crashing head-first into a rock.
The genie level was my acid trip when I was little
All fun and games till Aladdin starts wave-dashing.
the wavedash is really impressive.
Un véritable chef-d’œuvre, sega a vraiment gagné la bataille contre Nintendo, rien qu’avec ce jeu
I love how edge of your seat that those runs were until carpet ride he flies head on into rock!!!😂 i understand why, but it was out of nowhere. I couldn't stop laughing!!
Take a shot every time Aladdin says "Ow!"
I counted. 49 total, with 30 alone by 4:30 in. RIP to your liver
When I saw the title that someone beat this game in 9:30 I automatically assumed there was some kind of glitch or level skip involved. This is wild.
This brings back so many amazing memories...I played the shit out of this game. My pupils used to dilate just seeing the Virgin Games logo.
Proving once and for all the strategic supremacy of MC Hammer-pants
3rd best selling game of the SEGA GENESIS. 4 million copies sold 🤑
7:18 Is that the same "C'mon" from Comix Zone with a lower pitch?
10:48 During the end game credits one of the product analysts listed in Virgil the Cat. I wonder what that's about lol
I appreciate the carpet dance
4:44 this is what we all came here for.
I got my ass kicked on that level so many times. I think I remember having full on meltdowns after getting ran over by one of the last boulders for the nth time.
this run was over by the time I would be finishing the first level
some sounds and animations are present in Eartworm Jim
Some animators and the same composer from Ewj work in this game
dude this game has a dash move ? didnt know about that
2:17 oh my god Bro, está escena es épica!
if you play a disney game expect a lava level
Instant like because nostalgia and I didn't ever beat the game
Same here. Though I remember playing this on an emulator growing up.
9:28 he's got a cannon for an arm
04:28 How did he skip the cave boss? I tried several times but it's impossible to jump high enough like that
You need to be taking damage from 2hp -> 1hp whilst jumping, on normal difficulty or higher.
dang took me like a couple of months to finish this in mega drive as a 12-yr-old 😅
How To defeat jafar easily
1. Collect 35 apples.
2. Keep Aladdin's health 7.
3. Then Avoid the enemies and defeat jafar.
Watching someone beat levels of this so fast is ruining my childhood.
Wonderful
Awesome
How does he make the dash?
3:35 wait that’s genius
@neogeomaster Strange, because the genie lamp clearly shows at least 1 puff of smoke remaining before getting hit.
@neogeomaster he had one hit left, its a bit hard to see in the dark level but there's smoke still coming out of the lamp. Getting hit when you have 1 HP is whats required to get a boosted jump like that
In all honesty, I had no idea what he did. He stood near the skeletons until they blow up. Wouldn’t you just run away from them until they go off camera so they won’t explode on you and risking damage???
@@Beartallica86 The damage is necessary in order to perform an extended height jump.
@neogeomaster lol, have you played the game yet?
If this were my playthrough, I'd be using more than 9:30 on just The Escape 😭
2 questions, why on 04:28 no rock came down? also, that "pulsating" way to run is what gives him that advantage at the end of The Escape ? Never seen that
How many times you complete this game ?
i love this game
insane
2:27 Aladdin, tired of mere thievery, decides to step up his crime game a few notches and just straight up murders a dude on the streets in broad daylight
Name: Gazeem
Occupation: Humble thief
Cause of death: Bludgeoned to death by a barrage of apples to the head
Nice run! But why does he hit the rock in Rug Ride 3 times?
After u die 3 times it just passes I to the next level
@@kyletenney3400 Is the level really just THAT long??
@@jaru4564 yes, it's about 2 or 3 minutes long, so crashing 3 times in a row saves a LOT of time
1:25 Just curious. Why is there a stop sign in the middle of the Desert?
Camels....
Comparing the snes and genesis aladdins:
Genesis seems to have better, more diverse levels.
Visually more interesting.
Looks a little harder than snes version. Got a cool sword
Snes version had way better sound. End Boss battle was cooler on snes.
Smoother scrolling on the snes.
Wheres the sword? Parachute instead of sword, ok...
I would give the genesis aladdin the slight edge. I had the snes version and loved it, but my judgement stands.
Thus Aladdin save the world for 10 minutes
One reason why Aladdin 2 don’t release. Jafar spit on all this and went to sunset
The apples were the true heroes.
A, A, B, B, A, A, B, B, A.
O mestre
I've never beaten the barrel guy, cool to see what game offers after that level lol
1:01 dat s y n c
The level is hard
Как ты так сделал?
This Prince of Persia game is awesome
This is an example of how superior hardware doesn't always mean superior gaming. I've played the SNES version and the Genesis version (I know, they're fully different games made by different studios). And holy crap, the SNES version is just...ass.
and those that tasted the bite of his sword, named him...
the streetrat
Eu Já Joguei Esse Jogo do Aladdin do Vídeo Game Mega Drive Certo!?☺😀😂👍👊💪✊👏❇✨🌠🌎
Sim
You got lucky
And I thought TAS's were calculated so that minimal damage would be done to the player. Aladdin's getting hurt right down to the last bit of health.
One of the standard descriptors for these videos on the website is whether damage was taken to complete the run more quickly. If it’s faster to take the damage rather than say, having to stop moving and wait to avoid the hit, then they’ll take the damage.
You know don't what a speedrun is, then
Several of the tricks actually require his health to be 1 hp before getting hit (the upward boost jumps), the health management in general in this run is very tightly managed in order to squeeze out additional optimizations. Its true that avoiding damage can make for a good movie but for a TAS where the goal is to finish as quickly as possible, time saving is more important that being damageless. In fact, there are many areas where they are damageless despite it being difficult to do so in order to allow for them to take damage in a spot that would contribute towards saving time.
TAS is Tool Assisted Speedrun. Usually it means slowing down the speed and using save states more to show what a "perfect" speedrun could be.
Taking damage/dying to save time is a common tactic in speedruns. In a general "speedrun" the aim is to get to the goal/roll credits as fast as possible.
"No Death/Damage Speedruns" are another category.
say what you will about genesis version... SNES simply plays slower
2:27 потратили много времени. А на 2м уровне можно было быстрее пройти, был запас по жизням.
50 dollars in 1994
You also can " start aa bb aa bb aa bb" to pass any level !
the TASVideos rules say you cant use codes like that
@@PASRC no really? 😂
Ah thanks! I've been playing this recently and couldn't remember why all the levels seemed familiar even though I never got too far in the game as a kid.
all this wavedashing
why wasn't aladdin in smash
5:19 как у него это получилось?
Просто запрыгиваешь туда, и по камням прыгать не надо.
@@IAMreynofficial когда запрыгиваешь туда, навстречу сразу катится огненный шар.Вот я не понимаю,почему у него ничего не произошло
sad genie only lets Aladdin die in this game
What's with the soundtrack... it sounds awful
he’s cheating lol this not an actual speed run
It clearly says 'TAS' in the title and 'tool-assisted speedrun' in the description. They're not "cheating" anyone.
If you don't like TAS runs, take your attitude and piss off elsewhere.
@@Wintermute-088 lol what’s worst is I can beat this game in 15 minutes no cheating haha you seem pretty mad about a 2 year old comment lmao
@@austonsplatpoo1705 Nothing to be mad about, I just think you're a dummy for calling someone a cheat when they're not cheating anyone or anything in the slightest. Clearly labelled. Just makes it seem like you have no idea what's going on.
Good run, but I feel like the assisted nature of it kinda cheapens it. Just IMO.
The point is to break the game on tas runs. Speed runners use these to improve their actual runs
jesus I can't even watch this because of the terribly jarring screen change animation.
