- Portrait sculpture is always difficult. It's even more difficult getting a likeness. Portrait sculpture has always been difficult for me, and one of the things i plan on getting better this year. Using sight size is a pretty good way. im working for photo reference so you can't use calipers too well. One of the most important things you can do as a sculpture is draw. Drawing is the foundamental skill for sculpture. Good anatomy understanding is also something to learn for sculpture.
Great 👏🏻👏🏻
Jordan Peterson, great work
Great sculpting skills and would i be able to ask a couple of questions about your work process...cheers
Sure ask away
@@SculptSome Great thanks..one of the issues i have in gaining a likeness is working out the transition angles from one plane to another...for example the actual curvature of the barrel of the mouth..this is when working from just photographs..have you experienced this in producing your portrait sculpture
@@newimagepropreplicas9863 Yes i know what you mean. It's difficult. In a perfect world i'd have a model right next to me while sculpting so i can really look. Definately want to get better at portraiture, even with my nude figures im trying to look at people to create a portrait. So difficult.
@@newimagepropreplicas9863 start from the profile, get that very close to how you want it. Then build those widths out symmetrically. In doing so, always go back to the profile, with good clay marking (drawing)… I’d recommend looking up Eirik Arnesen to answer these questions. He goes into further depth, and I hope you’ve stuck to it, cause I know this comment is 2 years old! Lol best of luck! And hard work of course :p
Same hobby
Will oil based clays crack as they dry ( if not hollowed out like your other sculptures) ? Do they have to be sealed to accept latex mould layers?
They won't crack. They can stay wet for years and years. This clay you can just add latex or polyrathane or silicone and it makes a good copy without anything added. I just ordered some monster clay in hard to do smaller heads, that should be fun.
@@SculptSome I hope u do videos on that. I'd really like to see how u do it. Amazing stuff. Thanks
great sculpture!
good
what modeling clay do you use?
This one is called Jmac clay, but lately for oil clay i've been using monster clay.
Thanks you for sharing ❤
THEN YOU LET IT LIKE THIS? At 9:05

Yeah he kind of does. Peterson has a great face good subject.
Exactly wow
