Newfoundland is the greatest place on Earth! I love you Newfoundland and I'm so pround to be an islander. You bless us all with so much
Alan has written two very good autobiographical books. "Where I Belong" is about his growing up in rural Newfoundland and "A Newfoundlander in Canada" is about seeing the rest of Canada for the first time. Great stories.
@@ez6300 I saw him and "The Beautiful Gypsies" in Old Saybrook, CT last year at the Kate, a small theater dedicated to Katharine Hepburn. He was fantastic.

I love listening to this song; it's such an exquisite description of a manic episode, when everything feels exhilarating and Up. Some people living with bipolar disorder decline treatment because they don't want to lose their creative edge - a hard choice to make. On the other hand, Séan McCann faced his addiction and trauma issues; he chose his family instead of the ongoing chaos that GBS had become...

I absolutely love this song it gives me a sense of hope and relief. When I'm feeling sad or had a rough day I listen to this song and it makes me feel really good and better
Great Big Sea and Allan Doyle has been my goto music to always lift my spirits for a long time. Mornin coffee and Great Big Sea great start of the day!!!
I went to a concert of theirs 18 years ago in London Ontario. I was devastated when I found out they were going to stop recording together. What a loss to music. To positive when what people want are remakes and darkness... I miss them.

I'm here because of K Trevor Wilson. I spent the majority of the late 80's and all of the 90's listening to London Ontario's FM96. I discovered the Hip because of that station (I lived across Lake Erie from Canada). I discovered Blue Rodeo. Tea Party. BNL. OLP. Crash Test Dummies. Northern Pikes. And so many more. But not Great Big Sea. I feel like I was robbed of this experience, so now I'm jumping feet first into the rabbit hole.

The soul in this music is exceptional. It has true maritime heart and was proven globally to be one of the best folk rock bands to date. Love these tunes as much now as I did in 93'. I say as a fellow canadian maritimer GBS needs to get over their problems and quarrels, unretire and get back at it.
More of a Newfoundland heart, Newfoundland band and Newfoundland type of music. Atlantic Canada would make more sense seeing NL isn’t apart of the maritimes
