  • I’m a CPST who reviews car seats to make your search easier.
    In this video I compare the not slim version of the Graco Slimfit (Slimfit 3-in-1) to the actually slim version (Slimfit3 LX).
    They have the same limits rear facing, forward facing and as high back boosters but one is three across friendly and the other isn’t.

    How does the SlimFit3™ LX 3-in-1 Car Seat compare to the True3Fit™ LX 3-in-1 Car Seat?
    I have 2 kids, 4 year old 42 lbs 47 inches and 18 months 24 lbs and a 2022 Highlander with 2nd row bench I am looking for the slimmest so that I can still slide the 60/40 seat for someone to be able to get to the 3rd row and just in case in the future to be able to fit 3 across.
    Thanks for your video.

      They are the exact same seat. Walmart has their own name for the slimfit3 lx which is the true3fit lx. They install exactly the same and are the same aside from the name and Walmart has a different color choice.
      I’m not sure how wide that section of the highlander bench is but the slimfit3 lx/true3fit are 16.7 in wide at their widest point. It does only rear face to 40 lbs so for the four year old you would be paying for a mode you won’t be using. The graco tranzitions (waze at Walmart also same seat) is 17 in wide and the Chicco myfit is as well. But if you don’t have the space for a 17 in seat and a 16.7 in wide seat then the slimfit3/true3fit is the narrowest seat on the market. And it has a great forward facing install.

    any differences in terms of safety ratings? From my investigation, I haven't been able to discern any difference. Thanks!

      In the US all car seats pass the same tests. They are pass/fail so if a seat is legally on the market (as these two are of course) then it passed. Only one brand releases their test data (clek) so we have no data to compare it too.

    Is there a carseat recommendation you can give for newborn?

      If you’re looking to use a convertible seat from birth then I’d look at the chicco nextfit max or Britax one4life
      If not than most infant seats work. The ones I’d recommend would be a chicco keyfit 30, graco snugfit35, graco snugride snuglock 35 LX (not DLX), or an century Carry On 35 LX.

    Is the gray one the regular slim fit or slim fit3?

    • @Tinypassengersafety
      @Tinypassengersafety  Год назад +1

      Gray is the slimfit 3 in 1 which is not actually slim in any direction. It is 19 in wide. Purple is the slimfit3 lx which is the same as the true3fit sold at Walmart. It is 16.7 in wide

    Curious, (W) is side to side? Or Front to Back? Ive noticed, different people say Width is front to back. Thank you in advanced

      When people use compact they are talking front to back space usage between front seat and car seat.
      When they say slim they are talking side to side. Does that help?
