It is so sad that people from all over the world (including me) have been denied the absolute pleasure over the past 12 month of seeing these lads live due to this pandemic. They are truly "World Class" and I always leave one of their gigs and a state of absolute euphoria, they are that bloody good! Here's looking forward to things getting back to normal for everyone in 2021.
One of the things I was looking forward to was taking my dad back to Considines to see the pipers and Blackie. Dad had cancer of the lung and used to go see them every single week before lockdown. Blackie kept in touch with him until the end. Dad passed away yesterday, but I played him a tune by Blackie when he was in hospital. I hope he was able to hear it
@@FionaByrne I am so sorry for your loss and I am sure your Dad did hear it, it is truly music for the heart and soul. I am sure you are aware but just in case, Blackie and Cyril and doing live streaming sessions every Friday from Considines now at 19:00 hrs via Facebook, which have been brilliant. Wishing you all the very best of luck and health for the future and again my deepest condolences to you and your family for your sad loss.
That is my father Cyril o Donoghue you are talking about and it warms my heart to read comments like this. My father and of course Blackie O Connell are true ambassadors for the wonderful art that is Irish Trad music.
@@bobbyodonoghue9865 Indeed, your father Cyril is a "living legend" of Irish Trad Music and my favourite balladeer by a long way. He is also a brilliant song writer, Bright Side of the Moon and Western Wind being 2 of my all time favourite songs. When he sings your father always brings tears to my eyes due to his unique and beautiful voice and his superurb phasing of lyrics and I carry his music with me wherever I go in the world. Mind you, Blackie's not a bad uilleann piper either, but he can't sing like your dad. 🤣🤣 I am sure you are quite righly very proud of your father, he is a great man, they are both great men, both world class musicians and as you say, true and noble ambassadors for your country to people from all over the world.
Does music ever get better than this? It's great seeing kids getting to hear the real thing when they're so young. So much to be proud of in their country's music and musicians. So much inspiration for their lives.
Saw Blackie and Cyril with Fiddler Owen Neff last week in Ennis Ireland and they blew me away. Definitely the highlight of our trip. Hope to see them in the US in the future.
Gatherings when the world was normal. Shoulder to shoulder hand in hand oh " play a song dear piper and string along band remember we of the oceans winds the clans live on here upon this land. See us "" are spirit shalt not bend !!!!!
RIP Cyril, I love you man. ❤
The real, true Ireland. Outstanding!!! 🍀🍀🍀
RIP Cyril, my old friend.
Blackie is the best piper in the world and Cyril ... he should be wearing a cape! Spectacular!
I am American and have always loved the pipes. It hits the Irish/Scots genes in my DNA!
How do you know if somebody's American?
Don't worry they'll tell you.
WOW ! What a fabulous showcase of what the Pipes are capable of. Both amazing Musos.
RIP Cyril, you are a legend ❤
RIP Cyril.
RIP Cyril
