Tbh, in the beginning I kinda saw VTubers as a fad and also was on the main bandwagon of "Its probably just some sweaty fat guy living in his mom's basement", but now i honestly just see them as regular ass content creators like Markiplier and Jacksepticeye, but just in a landscape where most of the top creators are women instead. And honestly, it's pretty cool in my case seeing as I never really found any interest in most of the big female creators like SSDoxerwolf (before the doxing) so these girls getting a bunch of spotlight has helped me find some genuinely cool and funny creators to watch (my favorite is Sinder, her general vibe is awesome, and her models look SO good [booba aside])
It's also great to discover, "Hidden Gems," in the VTuber scene. Nymphi Knife-Ears, for example (here's her introduction video: ruclips.net/video/1arwHMeYlNA/видео.html). I forget how and when I discovered her, but I'm glad I did.
This guy baffles me. Bro did dozens of hours of research and a 20+ minute video to publicly announce "y'all do whatever you want; this ain't my thing." I can't even be mad at him; he clearly did his research and isn't trying to sell his opinion as fact.
Some people do that actually, they hate something and get obsessed with it to the point they have to show it off to everyone. And, although he has good points, in the end he started liking some of them.

Man, this guy would really not like koseki bijou at all. The funny part is that I don't think that bijou is putting on a voice. I really believe that the way she sounds on steam is also the way she sounds irl. Bijou's laugh fits her voice too well for it to be fake, but also, some women just have higher pitch voices naturally. When the guy is showing Coco when talking about vtubers speaking japanese in a high-pitched voice, I find it odd because Coco actually used to just sound like that normally a lot of times. Most of the time, in hololive, the girls don't stick to acting as a character for more than a few weeks, although fuwamoco still do, but they are an exception.
I love hololive and many vtubers because ironically, them being behind an avatar ends up making them significantly more genuine honest people as opposed to plastic personalities we get with folk like pokimane and other face cam streamers Been following holo since Coco debuted, 90% + of them do not put up a character act nor voice. Many that did either had to stop the voice for their own health (suisei) or gradually shifted their content/character until it more closely aligned with their personality and normal self. Playing a character so long is mentally exhausting and it will drive you mad eventually. They do it to varying degrees like fuwamoco vs Marine but none play a full character that isnt adjacent to their casual selves. Many are famous for being identical irl (subaru) to their stream self and have to be wary to not get too loud outside. Others are just shy and have a "stream/with friends voice" and an "outside/stranger voice" (Gura Aqua)
You know what? I respect his opinion. I respect the research he made. And I respect that he respects vtubers and their grind. I still disagree with him tho, even if some of his points are valid.
i believe the majority of his video can be summed up as "personal preferences". i hate reality tv and dramas but i aint gonna make an entire video on it. Edit: if he hates the usual vtuber mannerisms, there are plenty of other vtubers that tone it down. Ex. Kronii, Lord Aethelstan, Kaela, Doki. And there are plenty of non vtubers who over exaggerate their reactions. Ex. Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, etc.
In the video he does go over the ones that don't, albeit very briefly. He also says he's "throwing a blanket over the term vtubers" meaning a lot of it is opinion and not fully accurate to every single Vtuber. But yeah most of it is just personal preference.

Considering I know Scamboli for his anime takes, I guess he took a shot since Gigguk made a video about the vtuber craze back then. It even made its way into Trash Taste. At the end of the day, it's his opinion. Maybe his view will change knowing Ironmouse lives with a chronic illness that leaves her bedridden, and cut short her training to become an opera singer. And is now among some of the most popular streamers, not just vtubers, on Twitch after grinding for years. Maybe.

God this guy reminds me of this miserable bastard I used to play DnD with. This guy liked two things: WW1, and Fallout (and only the grittiest, most grim-dark version of Fallout. No weird wasteland for this dude). If it wasn't related to either of those things, he did not want to hear it. He would let you know, too. He ended up being a total buzzkill, and no one really wanted to play with him.

I agree to an extent. To each their own. I never got into Vtubers just because I didn't see the appeal. Just a regular streamer with an anime girl avatar. I don't hate an anyone who does it/ likes Vtubers. However, now RUclips has been recommending me smaller Vtubers reacting to random stuff so decided to give it a go. While I dont physically watch the video (Most times I just autoplay videos while i listen at work) I've started to come around more.
72 hours is a decent amount of time for research. I genuinely believe that if you don't like something and you don't take the time to research and learn more about it, your opinion on it is invalid. It is just hate for the sake of hate at that point.
It's funny how you can tell no one here watched the video because the guy makes it clear a dozen times throughout the video that he doesn't hate vtubers and doesn't put a blanket statement over them. He's joking half the time. He even says in the first 2 minutes that not all vtubers are like this and that he himself is odd for just not being able to understand it. Other vtubers watched this and laughed along, with many people agreeing with his points. I couldn't explain it to you. This vtuber's youtube community is just way more hostile to criticism than others.

I've been consuming anime since the early 2000 and to be honest with you all, the whole kawaii trend and overly "cute" character trope gets boring QUICK. It wasn't always like that, pick any anime from the 80's or 90's, they didn't abuse those trends. Overall I'm with scamboli on this argument, sure is fine to watch cute girls doing cute things from time to time to relax and such, but just in a matter of days I'm going to forget that anime even existed, or confuse it with another similar. That is not the case for Trigun, Orphen, Lain or any anime from the 90's

Honestly I kinda respect the research he put in. I watch Scamboli and I like his video's. But I also like VTubers. I agree with some points he says, some of these are annoying, but YTubers have very much changed over time as well. This video is old. I think its just up to the individual, and there own preference.. I do think some of these tropes are cringe.
I'm not Hades, but I can say something regarding this. Just have passion for the craft, allow yourself to start out imperfect because it is a skill...it will start rougher than after a while. And yes, there is luck involved. Sometimes things won't pan out well, but if the passion is there and you're having fun the whole time it's chill. I wish you luck on your stuff
I'm somewhere in between weeb and this guy. I hate the baby talk and the fake personas. I'm here to watch degenerate women being themselves using cool tech to represent themselves with pretty and sexy art. There's a lot of cringe that I don't like in anime, and that carried over to vtubers, but I still like vtubers overall for the reasons I said. I can think that some of those anime tropes are cute and way too cringe at the same time. Also, you may not care for Korone, but I don't understand how you can hate her that much. I don't watch her, just a few clips but what I see is cute.

Too bad he didn't package this video up a bit differently cause i completely agree with most of these except i don't hate vtubers i just avoid ones who's whole shtick is playing a character, or I just watch vods so i can skip past parts i find cringey. Am actually with Scamboli to a degree. I don't know if it's a part of getting old or being exposed to a lot of anime, but i am growing tired of that type of "cutesy" act and voices. I prefer when the streamers i watch behave like themselves and are entertaining because they are genuinely funny and not because of something else. At least, am with him on that.

There ain’t much I can do to change it.” (14:52-14:55). In other words, it’s all an emotional argument (it’s like he’s inviting others to convince him why he should like Vtubers/anime in general). Once you apply logic; everything starts getting dismantled. But drama gets views, so I guess he might as well make money off of it.

Why would anyone need to make this argument? That doesn't mean Game of Thrones is worse though and no one really wants to listen why the plainer and simpler elements of Lord of the Rings appeals to me more than the complex political drama and dark human nature doesn't in Game of Thrones. The more I try to argue why LotR appeals to me, the more it sounds I'm just hating on GoT. Which is why you shouldn't try to justify personal preferences and preemptively argue against detractors, just say what you do and don't like and move on. But that isn't what happens in Scamboli's vid because he's constantly bringing up that this is just his personal opinion. Calls vtubers cringe and fake...on RUclips, which is filled with some of the most cringe and fake people alive. Vtubers at least have more engaging personalities. When they are being cringe, it's funny. Plus, it's easier to find a vtuber that you can relate to through the things they talk about, especially considering they collab so much, which makes finding new people to follow way easier. But, he can enjoy whatever he likes, because that is his life.

@user-ny7fy6fc2k I could find a good number of ones that don't sound anything like Gura in my subscriptions. Pippa, Foxy Moxae or Kitsunero as a few examples.

I never got into Vtubers just because I didn't see the appeal. Just a regular streamer with an anime girl avatar.
I don't hate an anyone who does it/ likes Vtubers.
However, now RUclips has been recommending me smaller Vtubers reacting to random stuff so decided to give it a go.
While I dont physically watch the video (Most times I just autoplay videos while i listen at work) I've started to come around more.
72 hours is a decent amount of time for research. I genuinely believe that if you don't like something and you don't take the time to research and learn more about it, your opinion on it is invalid. It is just hate for the sake of hate at that point.
It's funny how you can tell no one here watched the video because the guy makes it clear a dozen times throughout the video that he doesn't hate vtubers and doesn't put a blanket statement over them. He's joking half the time.
He even says in the first 2 minutes that not all vtubers are like this and that he himself is odd for just not being able to understand it. It says more about vtuber fans (I'm one myself) when they can't take any amount of criticism without getting upset. Learn to laugh a bit

@@kingofherosking3510 Because the video is more nuanced than the title. This is literally the only comment section I've seen where a majority of people disliked the video. Other vtubers watched this and laughed along, with many people agreeing with his points.

I've been consuming anime since the early 2000 and to be honest with you all, the whole kawaii trend and overly "cute" character trope gets boring QUICK. It wasn't always like that, pick any anime from the 80's or 90's, they didn't abuse those trends. Overall I'm with scamboli on this argument, sure is fine to watch cute girls doing cute things from time to time to relax and such, but just in a matter of days I'm going to forget that anime even existed, or confuse it with another similar. That is not the case for Trigun, Orphen, Lain or any anime from the 90's

Honestly I kinda respect the research he put in. I watch Scamboli and I like his video's.
But I also like VTubers. I agree with some points he says, some of these are annoying, but YTubers have very much changed over time as well. This video is old.

Just have passion for the craft, allow yourself to start out imperfect because it is a skill...it will start rougher than after a while.
And yes, there is luck involved. Sometimes things won't pan out well, but if the passion is there and you're having fun the whole time it's chill.

I'm somewhere in between weeb and this guy. I hate the baby talk and the fake personas. I'm here to watch degenerate women being themselves using cool tech to represent themselves with pretty and sexy art. There's a lot of cringe that I don't like in anime, and that carried over to vtubers, but I still like vtubers overall for the reasons I said. I can think that some of those anime tropes are cute and way too cringe at the same time. Also, you may not care for Korone, but I don't understand how you can hate her that much. I don't watch her, just a few clips but what I see is cute.

Too bad he didn't package this video up a bit differently cause i completely agree with most of these except i don't hate vtubers i just avoid ones who's whole shtick is playing a character, or I just watch vods so i can skip past parts i find cringey. It is frustrating though because there are definitely some vtubers out there i would love to enjoy because they have some seriously funny moments but i just cant get past their characters.

It is true that many vtubers are somehow "fake" knowing that most of them are playing a character, of course Luna doesn't speak like that and some of them try so hard to be that character.
However, it's hilarious that this guy wants realism in fictional content, like, dude... you can't ask for realism in a cartoon, they just grab portions of it and transfer them to a fantasy realm, imagine how boring Jujutsu Kaisen would be if it were real.
So yeah, I see his point of people trying to grab a vtuber and fake it out, yet I can't say that they aren't unique and real in some ways, Calli is so unique people started hating her, and Ironmouse has explain a lot about her medical condition and how that was the catalyzer to become a content creator.
I think he only needs to find out one that suits his interests, because there is a vtuber for everyone, as well as non-vtubers, the point if to keep looking until he finds something for him. Korone is helping with that ;V

I think vtubers have the same criticism as reactors or twitch streamers. A lot of them just have no talent to offer and get fame for basically no reason. You ask why is she famous? 'Because she's cute..........is........is that it?'
I don't see a difference between vtubers and flesh streamers at this point.
What I do see is the ability to do fun stuff with your toggles and do all kinds of content, while still showing A face without it being your very doxxable real face.

@@Map4ch3 I think when people need to "justify" their personal taste, they're also trying to convince themselves as well as the audience that their personal taste is valid. Take this energy into food for instance. You can like pancakes, but not waffles. Okay that's fine. But then you start going into detail why waffles just don't do it for you and start praising pancakes more and what they do better than waffles. Question: who the hell cares? Why would anyone need to make this argument? Now you're just being annoying trying to justify your preference and it's condescending because it sounds like you're trying to downplay the thing you don't like now. It's one of things were you need to shut up and realize the more you try to explain it, the more of an insufferable bias critic you become to the point that you start grasping at straws. You don't like the overly cutesy moments in anime? Fine, I get it, cutesy isn't for you. But there are just as many people that don't like overly serious and grim themes yet you don't need to explain why to justify why you don't like it.
You know I like Lord of the Rings more than Game of Thrones because I prefer Medieval stories of courage, companionship, honor, and duty prevailing over evil. I like the plain good vs evil trope that it has. The good guys survive, and those who don't are given honorable dignified deaths like Boromirs death, and the bad guys all die. That's my personal preference. That doesn't mean Game of Thrones is worse though and no one really wants to listen why the plainer and simpler elements of Lord of the Rings appeals to me more than the complex political drama and dark human nature doesn't in Game of Thrones. The more I try to argue why LotR appeals to me, the more it sounds I'm just hating on GoT. Which is why you shouldn't try to justify personal preferences and preemptively argue against detractors, just say what you do and don't like and move on.
But that isn't what happens in Scamboli's vid because he's constantly bringing up that this is just his personal opinion. I believe anyone that has to keep bringing that up are people are trying to avoid listening to counterpoints of their criticisms because their "criticisms" have started to come from a bias perspective and they're aware of it and continuing to excuse themselves with "it's just my opinion" is an attempt to dodge those criticisms.

Calls vtubers cringe and fake...on RUclips, which is filled with some of the most cringe and fake people alive.
Vtubers at least have more engaging personalities. When they are being cringe, it's funny. Plus, it's easier to find a vtuber that you can relate to through the things they talk about, especially considering they collab so much, which makes finding new people to follow way easier.
But, he can enjoy whatever he likes, because that is his life.
