I like your “It’s cool to be kind” sign on your mantle. We have a t-shirt that says that on the front. We also have another one that says “Kind is the new cool”. We always get a few smiles and comments when one of us wears one of those shirts. It always feels good to be able to make someone smile, even if it’s just for a minute or two and because we’re wearing a nerdy shirt.
I remember hearing about you a while ago and I have to tie a tie soon so I looked you up, didn’t expect to cry. All the people saying “hey dad” honestly hurts, mine left me and you bring all these people together, thanks dad
Advice from a guy who jumped that hurdle; dont ask ''wanna go on a date?'' because thats vague and scary. Instead, suggest doing some kind of activity together, but dont call it a date from the get-go. Find something that you can do together and you'll both enjoy, doing something together removes the need to keep up smalltalk conversations the entire time. After the activity you can finish the date with some drinks, the activity you did will immediatly give you something to start talking about. Bonus points for doing something relatively unique, like an escape room or glowlight minigolf.

Calling it a date from the very beginning puts unnecessary pressure on you both and doesn’t allow you to become friends before the relationship stresses begin. If you become friends, first, you'll have time to get to know each other and see if you guys even want to take the next step. Good luck.
