In some corners of HotD fandom, Otto is getting the name "Middlefinger." It's so fitting.
🤣🤣🤣
I love the fandom for stuff like this
Oh wow 🤣 I hope that name spreads like hot d
4:05 "Imagine being named Hobert? I'd be pissed" Gray, you never fail to amuse me! 😂
Not only does Caraxes react to Daemon getting hit by the arrow, when the arrows first start to fire upon them Daemon raises his arm to shield his face and Caraxes raises his wing in sync with Daemon to shield Daemon.
Yes! What a great scene, loved it.
@@jenniferhammond632 I did too. I like even more that Daemon is a fucking beast!!!! :)
If im remembering correctly Caraxes was nicknamed the bloodworm right?
@@KRRooga66 YES!!
So this makes me wonder if Daemon locked Caraxes up for his solo beast mode moment cause I figured Caraxes would’ve cremated the entire island turning sand to dragon glass if he was loose. Right?
I LOVE that you keep calling him “Crispen”, he is forever Crispen in my book too😂😂😂
Crispy Cole 🤣😂
W
Daemon with that white flag: "I'm gonna do a heckin' war crime."
Daemon when he takes 2 arrows: "Call an ambulance" *the Dragon arrives* "but not for me."
Your jus so funny aren't you
That scene with him burning people on the dragon was awesome, it felt exactly like I imagine when I picture myself creating mass destruction with a dragon! :D
Drunk Viserys actually has balls and gives off some kingly vibes. Daemon hit the nail on the head when he told Viserys that he was weak and he allows those around him to manipulate him. Especially Otto and it seems like Viserys is finally starting to see it.
Despite Viserys seeming like a 'nice' person, the name Viserys seems like a curse or a 'red letter' branding them (those given the name) weak, selfish and/or cowardly. After all, he had the wife he said he loved slashed open for the chance at a baby with a penis pretty quickly knowing it was straight butchery and jumped at the chance to procure a replacement baby maker with what seemed like no grief or guilt at his decision making.
Zaddy Daemon Targaryen had no dialogue but completely stole the show! Love Matt Smith in this role!
My sister and I have been talking about him for days and I am just realizing that😂 the acting skills are so fitting for Daemons prowess 💕
I think he is going to get gray scale do but he is very saxy
Great directorial decision also
he's really an unexpected great pick. I doubted he'd be much of a presence like daemon in the books, but he just pulls it off effortlesly it seems.
@@juliannacolombo5584 yes! He's captivating!
I think Viserys didn’t want to kill the Stag. He’s been questioning his decision making the entire episode. Even choosing Rhaenyra as his heir. There was a sense of relief when he saw the brown Hart because it meant that Aegon wouldn’t be King. He didn’t want to find the white Hart because it would contradict his belief in choosing Rhaenyra.
Maybe.
My thoughts on his reluctance to kill the stag was due to him being unsure of whether he would embarrass himself. Viserys is breathing heavily in this entire episode. He could barely muster the strength to kill it with a spear, and it took 2 thrusts to get the job done. I'm leaning toward this being an example of Viserys' failing health, rather than it being some sort of symbolic meaning.
Yes I agree an I'm glad Rhaenyra didn't kill the white hart
@@BazookaIke Not really. You have a point with his failing health however, pay attention is his facial mannerisms this entire episode. He’s uncomfortable, he’s also in pain. Not to mention, he’s been overindulging in wine. When they told him they found the Hart, his face didn’t show much enthusiasm, despite him stating he wants to forget politics and just enjoy a hunt for a few days. He thought he could use this hunt as escapism but he’s already reminded of his responsibility and the decisions he’s made.
@@Marukisu15 what you described is his failing health. Its not some sort of moral conflict or being torn up by decisions he made or will have to make. You will see in the next few episodes.
@@BazookaIke I acknowledge that you are right about his failing health. That does play a role into the totality of what’s going on but it’s more of a mental game than a physical game. It’s more than one angle to look at here. The fact you can’t see that’s he’s torn between his new family and Rhaenyra is interesting to say the least. He will obviously succumb to his poor health later in the series. I would even argue that Viserys cares more about his relationship with Rhaenyra and her happiness, than Aegon’s second name day and hunting a Hart. The fact that we are having this debate shows how good this show is. Subjective point of views. Can’t wait for more!
The note from his brother really turnt Deamon up, he want to prove he don’t need his brother and he did a great job of that, the fact he went off dragon back and took them out proved that even in hand in hand combat Deamon is that guy
Yes ma'am!
I would've been pissed too.. WTF 😂😂🤣🤣. Viserys doesn't care about shit, he decided to wait out the storm and give no f's about the threat... defeating the crab people was a way for the crown to show force...he refuses. Now that I'm fucked and vulnerable you offer me help..so you can overtake my accomplishments and tell me "I told you so" afterwards 🧐... that's shady business. Viserys is so dumb.
I was talking to the show...."king!!! Your tardiness to this war has just given your brother an up! Daemon went crazy to cement his place as a warrior king. 🤣
But in the source material Daemon wasn’t a great fighter, the show has turned him into prime Jaime
@@rossl5908 this is a lie lol Damon is one of the best swordsman in Westeros in the books wtf u talking about
I hollered at "imagine being named Hobert" 😂😂 I couldn't wait for this breakdown!
HOOOEEEBERRRT BWHAHAHA
I literally came to comme t the same shit!!!! Im at work listening on headphones and almost spit my coffee out laughing 🤣🤣 FUCKIN COMEDY MJ!!!
I used to have a dog named hobo but I always called him hobert😆
@@BlazesRat lmao same, I'm at work listening too. We're guaranteed a cackle with MJ
@@shelbyahughes1994 I'm literally LOL!
I liked the symbolism of Viserys' hand losing fingers as a parallel to him losing members of his council. Also the number of betrayals we've seen Otto Hightower levy against him. First with manipulating the King to marry his daughter, next with seeking to supplant the throne with his grandson. The imagery and foreshadowing in this series has always been so good.
Also he lost those fingers from the cut he sustained when he banished Daemon. he's vulnerable because he trusted Otto over his brother.
What second member did he lose? What? Otto symbolically?
@@pseudonymousbeing987 The relationship Viserys had with Corlys is strained because he refused to marry Laena. I don't think there's much significance to the finger, but if I had to assign any it would go like this:
Corlys was the pinky, overlooked but pivotal in helping the hand (of the body) function properly and to the best of its ability.
Otto, the fourth finger commonly referred to as the ring finger. Slightly disempowered by his daughter's ascension to Queen (she convinced Viserys to aid Daemon which Otto strongly suggested against) and Rhaenyra who is not susceptible to his manipulation (re his attempt to influence her choice of Kingsguard appointee)
Alternatively, Daemon could be the pinky, little finger for a little brother. And Corlys the ring finger, spurned by marriage refusal.
@@kevinvest9693 that's true. Those two fingers could easily be symbolic of Corlys and Daemon's departure.
@@oxosoleil woahhhhhhhhhhh
👏👏 👏👏both ideas work well, u smart
I knew Daemon was getting ready to fuck some shit up when kneeled down to offer up Dark Sister. The whole war scene was my favorite especially seeing Leanor ride in on Seasmoke which is the cutest dragon. Also, I'm ready for Viserys to die, he isn't doing anything anyway. Rhaenyra coming back to the camp with the boar blood on her is badass!! I can't wait to see more!!
Hell yes!!! They worked on this episode.....I loved it from beginning 2 end!!
I think your rating system should be called “the Gray Scale”. As always, your input is a big part of what keeps me informed about this world and makes it all the more enjoyable. Thanks Gray!!
Gray Scale! Love it ♥️
🤣🤣🤣
YES!
I love this!! 💯
Daemon running into the cave reminded me of Jon in the battle of the bastards running towards Winterfell 😂😂
And that part about Alicent, “ you’re the queen now betch you don’t gotta listen to daddy anymore you got a new daddy now, Viserys.” 💀💀💀
That whole scene reminded me of the battle of the bastards a bit. The way he "surrendered" and was facing his enemies solo. That scene took me back to Jon standing there sword in hand. So good
Yes I didn't think of it till you mentioned it
Except Daemon isn't a wuss who needs someone else (usually a woman) to come and save his sorry ass in battles. 🤣
@@candydandy2694 LOL Jon did need someone to save him A LOT! But wasn't that Seasmoke and an army lead by Corlys who saved Daemon?
You're the first person I've seen addressing Clubfoot, everyone else didn't pick on his introduction but that guy will be important down the road. very cool.
Visarys threw mad shade in this letter. "I dont want to see YOU fail in YOUR endevor" ... " I hope this aid might bring 'US' the victory"... Zaddy Daemond was like, hold up aint no US's in this homie. We aint been cool in like 3 years and now you wanna swoop in and save the day!? Nah, it's not going down like that. Win, lose, or draw I'm gonna end this shit and you're gonna put some RESPEK on my name!!!🤬
I laughed when Jason Lannister wrinkled up his nose when Rhaenyra strolls back like a young man after they’d “been blooded. Cool and pretty Seasmoke with Laenor impressed me for him to be young and maybe not as experienced. And Daemon - love him and I’m truly seeing Daemon Targaryen and no longer Prince Phillip. Thanks , enjoyed your video
I'm finally over seeing Matt Smith as Prince Philip and he's now become Daemon to me. I had a hard time adjusting to the new role too.
There is one good thing about the hunting scene. George has been criticizing the Robert hunting scene in GoT for a while, saying a king will not go hunting with only two men in company and on foot. There should be hundreds of men, feast, camps...Yeah, now he has it.
Hundreds of dudes and he still got murked by a boar. Imagine bobby b flying like Cole did lol
@@blacklite911 The boar that got him had to be a big boy though lol
To be fair, there were actually *THREE* other men with him, unless that was an insult toward Lancel.
You bout killed me when you said "He looks musty" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you!!
That hunt was pitiful!! It reminded me of Cat father’s funeral where her uncle kept missing hitting the boat with 🔥 fire
Damn, that's funny
YESSSS!! Same vibes!
My wife doesn't know anything about the "Dance of the Dragons" from the books, but I do. Hell she just barely watched GoT's for the first time about a year ago and it's so fucking hard to not say anything when I see somebody like "break bones" whom I know is going to play a major roll in one way or another later on! She literally got jealous because of how excited I got daring the first episode when we saw Syrax, Ceraxes, Blackfyre and Dark Sister. I LOST MY SHIT.
Same here, my bf saw GOT but never read the books. We don't even watch HotD together because I can't contain myself. I wait til he sees it, then I give the spoiler-free explanation.
“I thought it was Mushroom and I almost fell off the bed” lololol same!! 💕
Im glad she didnt kill the white Hart..but damn I woulda loved that Otto Hightower meltdown!
Same. Like how fast would he have tried to blame her for *killing* it?
@@cjtorres5917 Facts on facts lol
You might not see this comment, but Targaryens are not immune to greyscale. Look up the Valeryians vs the Rhoyne. It shows that greyscale was used to kill over 300 dragon riders.
i love that the story Rhaenyra asks to hear is about Nymeria. it seems like just a random thing, wanting to distract herself, and a fun easter egg for fans (and its that in a part), but the story is picked with purpose. The Triarchy are using similar methods as Nymeria *right now* to best the dragons. The previous Targs couldn't figure it out, but maybe she's trying to. To find a hidden clue in the story that could help. There is war and understanding the enemy is always good. She's not involved right now but its still good to stay on top of things just in case. Which shows she is a good queen already
It also made me think of Arya, which was a nice call back.
GOT introduced the White Hart mythos with Robert's doomed hunt in the first season and I LOVE how they have reintroduced it here. GRRM took it from Celtic mythos and traditionally the Hart is seen as a messenger from another world, it's like a 'quest giver' that only approaches very specific people. In GOT context it's seen as a 'portant' that confirms the legitimacy of a ruling or potential King/Queen. Robert (and Viserys here) do not understand it, they think it's just another animal to be tracked and killed to fulfil the portant. Look what happened to Robert and it does NOT bode well for Viserys. It's the fact that the Hart appeared to Rhaenyra and I love how they showed Rhaenyra suddenly understand that this animal is MUCH more than a hunting trophy. That was so beautifully filmed and overall this is SUCH a good show, it's much better than I thought it would be.
Your breakdown are AMAZING. I literally wait after the episode for yours and Alt Shift X. Your delivery and commentary and so passionate about the show and the books, you know what you're talking about and you looooovve it. Please keep going
Yes, I love this woman so much.
I enjoy her analysis because she says wacky sheit like when she declared that Viserys had only married Alicent because of her coochie, even though she had spent three days in the same dress.
Or when she said Viserys was stupid just right after starting the review from the second episode.
Like, she's so charismatic and oozes confidence.
I also wait like crazy for her breakdowns and Glidus'. She doesn't say all that deep sheit, but it's the deliveries that do it for me.
Ive been here for a long while but thanks for reminding me about Alt Shift X I only discovered him a month or two ago over some Dune stuff
I don’t want to hear 👂 anyone’s review but hers! 😂
The only other thing I wanted out of this episode was to actually see Daemon slice and dice the Crabfeeder. Love the way they designed Caraxes. He's perfect.
Oh man, I was so hyped to see Daemon shredding mother-fo’s with Dark Sister.
Seeing Seasmoke was also dope.
Daemon has dragon blood. He doesn’t get sick like mere plebs and NPC’s.
When the dragon stomped on that guy I lost it 😂😂😂 such a cartoon moment
Laenor calling Vaemond "Master of Complaints" was my favorite burn of the season so far
I love how Gray calls him Crispin the whole time lol
Cant stop laughing. she is so messy
If Viserys offered to help Daemon more often, Daemon would solo the entire globe.
Daft innit
Breakbones looked at Rhaenyss like Jon's homie the redheaded Wildling, Tormund Giantsbane, would look at Brianne 🤣🤣🤣🥰.
Viserys' putrid attempts to kill the stag reminded me of Theon's inept attempts to behead Rodrik Cassel. I don't know which was more sad lol.
I'm vegan but even I had second hand embarrassment 🤣
Probz slightly more sad for Viserys, since he's supposed to be a deserving king 😬😅
EXACTLY. But atleast the King has health challenges. Even with all his flaws, Robert Baratheon WOULD NEVER!!!
Aww poor Theon
oooo, you got me dying over here Gray!! I had to stop the video when you said, “Sir, go back to the tent with the women and children” 😂
I gotta wonder if Daemon locked Caraxes up for his solo beast mode moment cause I figure Caraxes would’ve cremated the entire island turning sand to dragon glass if he was loose when they shot Prince Daemon up. They needed him to fall back for their strategy to work right?
Sidenote: I just can’t stand Otto “fake Littlefinger” Hightower. He’s an opportunistic piece of bullsh#%.
I've seen some people online call Otto Middlefinger. Perfectly fitting.
@@olhasum4721 Lol I like that. 😂
Yep, and an idiot too. If he didn't disinherit Daemon by naming Rhaenyra heir, then his grandson Aegon would be automatically heir.
He literally disinherited his own grandson.
The dude already planned for Alicent to wed Viserys, so he should have waited to disinherit Daemon until he was certain Viserys wouldn't marry Alicent, or changed his mind about them marrying.
I’m so glad you talked about the greyscale! I was thinking about that as soon as daemon went after him and then was covered in blood. I haven’t seen anyone really mention it.
When I saw daemon running after the Crab eater, I couldn t help but think of Jhon Snow and Ramsey bolton
“Jason looks musty” 😭
I really love how you pointed out that the white hart recognised that Rhanera was queen for not killing or hunting deer. I love that you give each and every character a good run-down. Every thing you said in the episode was exactly the way I imagined it too. Your fan Daniel Meredith xo :)
I forgot how much I love the way you review these episodes 😭 the sass the entertainment!. Fiya
We’re all gonna be calling him Crispon all season aren’t we 🤣
paddy considine is killing it. regardless of your favorite character he is by far the best actor. not even matt smit can compete. i expect an emmy in his future!
I respectfully disagree....matt Smith can command the screen and not even utter a single word. I am NOT saying paddy isn't great because he truly is but Smith as Dameon is a whole other level.
@@constantlycriminal8630 well then. i guess we will see who wins the emmy :)
@@blackshade1840 but I am totally biased in every way possible 😆 🤣 😂
Your breakdowns are passionate and awesome and truly informative. Loving all these dragons. You also are cracking me up🐉🐉😂
The guy who was the kings hand is a good actor because you keep wanting to hit him from your phone
Don't forget, Jason Lannister will rise again...as sir Hugh of the Vale
I wanted to call this episode "Riding in cars with Targaryens " 🤣🤣🤣 That scene was beyond awkward!!!
Omg girl you are officially my FAVORITE GoT RUclips channel! I literally WAIT for your HOTD recaps 💕💕💕💕
Did anyone else scream, “ZIG ZAG DAEMON…ZIG ZAG!!” 🙋🏼♀️😂
I don't care what Daemon does from now on, he's a legend. Way to shout out to Thoros and Jorah!
"Thoros of Myr, a warrior-priest of the Lord of Light, with his fire-coated sword, led the way through a breach in the castle walls with Jorah Mormont not far behind him."
At least Bobby B actually went hunting like the warrior he was!
Love how you keep us informed
Watching Daemon cut his way through the triarchy is reminiscent of Jon Snow ⛄️
I gotta say... you do this so much better on your own. When you team up, there is too much extemporaneous extra stuff... NOT focused. Maybe team ups could be good to debate a theory/interpretation... or a live review or something. But YOUR take is what I come to this channel for.
Same💕
I can't stand her panels. Too much giggling.
I like both but direwolf city is a good kick back (also love preposterous AF) but the real juice is in your solo stuff. You know your shit but I like how you also listen to your contemporaries and can chill too.
Major respect.
I like how they mentioned Johanna Swann, she becomes the most famous courtesan in Lys and becomes “the ruler of lys in all but name” so it’s a blessing in disguise lol
Another fun review! Yaaaaassssss after Daemon faked the crabfeeder out w/ the Trojan horse glamor, he is now my FAV character. Matt Smith is the shiznit.shining. Hollering @ inflammation! 🤣🤣
Love the passion Gray Area’s puts into every video, she’s funny too 👍
Great review! The fact that you continued to call Criston, “Crispin” was sending me 💀💀, especially considering how much of a villain he became to Rhaenyra later. #TeamBlacks all day.
The metaphor of Caraxes stepping on the guy was Deamon. He’s only there to make a name for himself. Not to save a doomed soldier. He only cares about him & his glory. It lets the audience know what he’s really about.
👆🏿👆🏿👆🏿👆🏿👆🏿👆🏿👆🏿👆🏿👆🏿👆🏿
Yeah that’s how I took it too. I think TV Daemon, at least right now, is a little more unambiguously nasty than book Daemon.
The only other thing that hit me different than it did her was also about Daemon, I thought the Gold Cloak rampage was pretty unambiguously evil in this telling, to me it was giving Gold Lives Matter and I felt it was probably meant to
That’s what I got from it: these people are not your heroes. I think it also has socioeconomic implications or foreshadowing at the people who will suffer for the glory of the nobles.
Thats a long-standing GRRM theme; that war between kings and nobles does nothing but cause destruction to the common people.
Always looking forward to your breakdown! You’re Awesome 👏🏾 ❤️
Just wanted to mention, I have yet to see Rhaenyra be the "realm''s delight". And I like her character. I was expecting her to be doing a lot more politicking or at least be showing the kind of concern for others to make them think there's something special about her. Seasmoke looks sooo happy when he's lighting up the land! The Velaryons are the bomb, every last one, even little brother complainy pants.
Thank you for addressing the daemon and grayscale situation. So many ppl skipping over that
I love your videos. They’re always filled with book lore, you’re always dropping knowledge and coming up with amazing theories. Plus, you’re f-n funny and crack me up, which is exactly what I needed today. Thank you as always, Lady Gray!
This episode made me think that some riders have a much stronger connection to their dragon. Caraxes felt daemons pain while Larnor had to keep saying dracarys every time seasmoke spit fire. Laenor also didn't seem to do a whole of damage and killing, considering the fact that he's on a dragon
I think it mainly has to do with the bonding. Daemon's been a dragonrider for much longer, so the bond with Caraxes is much stronger and deeper than the young Laenor with Seasmoke.
I AM DYING! Your reviews are THE BEST. Straight up. Fan for life. Love you.
I love your videos. They’re always filled with book lore, you’re always dropping knowledge and coming up with bad ass theories. Plus, you’re f-n funny and crack my ass up, which is exactly what I needed today. Thank you as always, Lady Gray!

Love your depiction of the episode s. One is my favorite GOT channels
Been waiting non stop for this 🥺🥺
Excellent job on this breakdown, a job well done as always! So sorry you got Covid. I wish and pray you well!
I really think there was a missed opportunity. When Rhaenyra comes back with the boar, she should have said "I brought us a pig for the feast, father". There was definitely that type of self satisfied (rightfully so) energy about her already, but a quick line would have made that even better.
I love your videos, you are hands down one of my favorite youtubers. I don't get the updates on time even though I'm subscribed.

With Alicent's stolen life and youth by her father Otto, I wouldn't mind seeing her murder him or something. Not unless if she wanted to play the game all along.
Great stuff, glad to have you doing your thing again 👍 👏🏼 😀...
