Continuing from what Eli has said, there have been cases of Lemon Sharks bonding with people and warding away other animals they think may be a threat. Even on dives without baitboxes involved, so no confusion over whether or not they are being defensive of food.

I always cringe a little when I see you guys underwater with sharks, but thanks to you I am less ignorant, and I am starting to really respect sharks. Every time I get the chance, I try to educate my friends/family about how sharks are not man-eating monsters. Keep up the good work, you are awesome!!
To be honest, I'm glad this shark isn't as marketable as other sharks. Otherwise there would be a huge craze to snatch these sharks and put them in aquariums for people to pay to interact with these sharks. Let the puppers have their freedom
Very true! And much to the detriment of the lemon sharks (much like Great Whites, they probably need the open ocean in order to breathe and migrate). Even with large sharks like Great Whites, only juveniles have been able to stay in large tanks (and even then it's not the best conditions as they eat a ton and wouldn't last very long without being released back to the ocean at some point). Places like the Monterey Bay Aquarium don't keep great white sharks anymore because of these issues. If people want to interact with lemon sharks, they're probably going to need to take diving lessons and some professional shark interaction education too.

Lemon Sharks have actually been great at adapting to captive environments, where they can be easily studied. The only limitation aquariums have with these guys is that their so big compared to most sharks, so there are space problems. I've actually been to an aquarium with a Lemon Shark, they all looked bored though.

I swam with a lemon shark at South Beach, Miami. It was so close to the shore and I followed it for like five minutes recording it on my GoPro. I was only like 4-5 feet long but was still beautiful. I did not touch it because I thought that it would feel provoked if I did. Once I’m done making the video I’ll post it on my channel and come back to this comment to add the link.

Last shark attack was great white who attacked spearfisher, bit his leg, but they managed to save him and even his leg. Years ago, people often died because of similar wounds, they bled out.

I've come to really love sharks over the past few years. They really are, outside of territorial bullsharks and a few other exceptions, very gentle and intelligent creatures. I'd feel perfectly comfortable in the water with a shark as long as the visibility was good. They're big water cats who like pets.

I think humans have a hard time not relating to things outside of ourselves. We eventually learned to read mammals better, but a fish, or shark or water dwelling creature which has the least human face is very hard for us to read. We have to learn how they communicate, because they don't have eyebrows, they don't close their eyes as often and they have almost a permeant frown on their faces due to the shape of their mouths. It makes sense that they scared us for so long, they are very different from the typical mammal design, but I think with more study we can start to learn body language, subtle changes in their movement and even face to see better basic emotional communication.
I like the smaller sharks, mainly bc I'm also a small human who likes to just watch things happen from away and enjoys interactions from other things in the world who try to or have given me some sort of interest :'))

And the focus on the affection seems to be backed up by at least some evidence.

Blue sharks and nurse sharks tend to be very social.
