I loved them both. First for their Hammer films, second as the first Big screen Dr. Who and lastly, but by no means least, for their roles in Star Wars. The career is my childhood in a nutshell. A child of Dracula, a time traveller and an intergalactic governor. R.I.P., I miss you both. 🙏🥰🥰🥰
I have read that Peter Cushing was so nice to Carrie Fisher off screen that she had a hard time acting like she hated him on camera. In one of Cushing's interviews, he refers to her as "That dear little Carrie Fisher."
I read Peter was originally considered for Obi-Wan and Chris for Tarkin. Also John Carpenter considered either one of them for Dr Loomis before Donald was casted. Lee told Carpenter he regretted turning down the role.
They do appear in a lot of Hammer movies together and those are a lot of fun to watch. Peter Cushing is such a great Dr Frankenstein and also a great Van Helsing.
Such a genuine, warm and loving friendship between two gentlemen of the silver screen. The respect, affection and admiration between the two was clear to see.
Peter was the best in my opinion. I went to visit his house and where the bench and plaque is down by the sea front in whitstable. I even got the chance to meet an elderly couple who told me a story about Peter :) Both legends will live on forever ♡♡
We got some good officers in the other films, but watching this really makes me wish that Peter Cushing was in _Empire_ and _Return_ as well, with Grand Moff Tarkin somehow surviving the destruction of the Death Star, standing next to Vader as one of the Big Bads until the final reveal of the Emperor, just so we could have gotten more of him in Star Wars.
There's a vague notion in the novelisation of the original movie that Tarkin might be the big cheese of The Empire. The Emperor is described as weak and out of touch, being manipulated by his governors. Fear of the Death Star will keep the systems in line after the abolition of the Senate. . And Tarkin is in charge of it. Had George stuck with that, we may have had more of Tarky.
Not only were these two gentlemen great actors, but they were great friends. You can hear the genuine affection that Sir Christopher had for his old and dear friend. Rest in peace, both of you wonderful gentlemen!!! 😔😞😢❤️🌹
They used to go to the cinema if they weren't needed on set in the afternoons at Hammer. And tgey used to get into trouble with the cinema manager for giggling through the movies.
@@zacmumblethunder7466 I had no idea they did that. Thanks for sharing this!!! It only makes me love and respect these two gentlemen all the more!!! ❤️
Fear will keep the local systems in line. Fear of this CGI technology . Don't get too proud of this CGI technological terror you've constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force.
Don't frighten us with your sorcerous ways, Lord Cushing. Your sad devotion to that ancient religion has not helped you conjure up the stolen data tapes for the CGI technology or given you clairvoyance enough to find the rebels' hidden fort... ACK... (chokes) agghhh... ackkkk...🤢 P. S. That emoji was the closest I could find to a nearly passed out person.
My sister said on the day of Peter’s funeral the cortege stopped at each shop and cafe on the high street in Whitstable he went to out of respect. There is also a converted art deco cinema Wetherspoons named The Peter Cushing. It’s a lovely building. I’ve been in. He also swam in the sea every day.
I don't know if it's true, but heard that Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing were thrown out of a movie theater because of their raucous laughter while watching a Looney Tunes cartoon.
In A New Hope Tarkin always gave me the creeps over Vader, maybe because it seemed he was more in charge and he was relentless but at the same time cold as ice, showing little emotion
@@JulioLeonFandinho Tarkin had that thin veneer of impeccable manners that contrasted with his utter ruthlessness. Palpatine was obviously evil and snarly. I always thought Tarkin was the classier villain.
George Lucas Kathleen Kennedy Disney are all a bunch idiots not to put Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing in the same movie together. The Masters of Horror The Dark Side of The Force that would have been AWESOME!!!

Love this. Would've loved to have seen Sir Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing in Star Wars together.

The closest we get is an interaction between their characters in a book.
@@minicle426 really? Which one?
@Miles Doyle I don't know what the hell you're talking about, but this has nothing to do with Christopher Lee or Peter Cushing.
They do appear in a lot of Hammer movies together and those are a lot of fun to watch. Peter Cushing is such a great Dr Frankenstein and also a great Van Helsing.
Dude that was awesome I've never seen that. Thanks 🙏

Never had thought about that, but it would have been best of the best. Cushing-Tarkin is my favourite character in Star wars!

That made me tear up a bit, NMSW.
Yeah, two giants and gentlemen indeed. MTFBWY
You Christopher & me bought to tears. Peter sounds lovely 😢
@taniaearle4457 I've never heard a bad word said about him. Nor about Christopher Lee.
Peter Cushing, charming to the last. Christopher Lee, such a wonderfull actor and exciting life he lived.
That’s full of love even without Lee speaking but u can see it from his face.
They brought back Peter Cushing in CGI form in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Greatness never dies!

Peter Cushing is the best!! As result, Tarkin is the best!

If Peter Cushing and Christopher lee was in a film you knew you was in for a treat
Who's more scarier? Darth Vader and Emperor Palatine or Count Dooku and Grand Moff Tarkin?
Palp and Vader
In A New Hope Tarkin always gave me the creeps over Vader, maybe because it seemed he was more in charge and he was relentless but at the same time cold as ice, showing little emotion
@@JulioLeonFandinho Tarkin had that thin veneer of impeccable manners that contrasted with his utter ruthlessness. Palpatine was obviously evil and snarly. I always thought Tarkin was the classier villain.
Still the question remains:
“What is a Grand Moff Tarkin?”
Duh. It's like a Moff.
But grander.
Peter Cushing as Tarkin was the original big bad as Vader answered to him and the Emperor wasn’t introduced until episode 5.
"... holding Vader's leash" and "Vader, release hom" sum up what Vader was at that point. The mystical bully boy doing Tarkin's dirty work.
George Lucas Kathleen Kennedy Disney are all a bunch idiots not to put Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing in the same movie together. The Masters of Horror The Dark Side of The Force that would have been AWESOME!!!
Well we know that lol
This is such a sad interview
Moff is the acronym for Military Officer.
