  • Shortening your golf swing is a fast way to improve your consistency. Arm over run (overswing) at the top of the swing often leads to your arms getting stuck behind your body, ruining arm structure. In today’s golf lesson, Kerrod Gray and Oli Tucker demonstrate how to shorten your golf swing to make a better impact position and increase your consistency.

    I've been trying to fix this for weeks.
    This is the best video I've seen so far for fixing the issue, thank you so much Kerrod!

    This is something I have always struggled with and have failed to correct it with several different attempts. I'll give this a try as well.

    Hi Kerrod,
    Thanks for yr prompt reply
    My apologies if my previous comment sounded a tad brusque….I suppose it’s just borne out of yrs of frustration with the game…I really have only myself to blame for trying out too many methods and not sticking to one thing
    I enjoy yr videos and will try harder to apply yr tips…
    Many thanks

      Hi Robin! No problem at all 🙂 Golf IS frustrating sometimes, but that's part of the fun (for me anyway). Thanks for your support and all the best 👍

    It took me a couple months of practice, but my break-through on this fall was feeling a 3/4's "slot" feel at the TOBS. Seeing this visually confirmed that even though the club felt layed-off at the top, it was actually smack on plane. Based on recent winter play I'd judge the index will come down 3 to 4 strokes with the improved consistency when the scoring season resumes here in Oregon.

    Thanks for the advice I’m very new to the sport. I’m a muscular guy and i don’t have good shoulder flexibility so this shows i have a little hope. What you are showing is pretty much my limitation with my shoulders.

      How's your body rotation? Might be the best thing for you to work on if your shoulder flexibility is limited.

    This is my exact issue with the added problem of slight roll of forearm inside during takeaway. AOA with irons are shallow with FTP always left, draws on my good days with mid 70s scores. Hooks and blocks on my bad days with the odd day not even breaking 90!. Will try this drill for a few weeks, its a shame I'm in Melbourne otherwise it'd be an in person lesson!

    This looks like a good drill to practice a shorter swing, like around 80%. But what can I do to find the right top position?

    • @kerrodgraygolf
      @kerrodgraygolf  6 месяцев назад

      Record yourself or use a mirror to compare your swing to videos online (like mine😅). Or get a swing analysis, I do them on my app if you are interested.

    I'm going to give this a whirl. I bring the club back way to far and then my brain readjusts the swing path on the way down. I still make good contact and distance, but just imagine if I were actually doing it the right way what would happen!

      Don't turn away because the truth looks too complex. Stay with it a while and you'll soon find it all very helpful and comfortable. After all, complexity is far more acceptable and workable then mystery is. - Wouldn't you agree?🙂
