Here is exactly what RUclips has been crying out for; a James Hird highlights package without any of that godawful music people always put on these sorts of videos. I hate it when people do that. This just has the commentary, the way it should be.

Watching mid-way through the 2018 season..
As these highlights demonstrate, James Hird is simply one of the greatest footballers to have played our game. As impressive as his career statistics & honour roll reads, it’s not so much ‘what’ he did on the footy field, rather ‘how’ & ‘when’ he did it that set him apart.. Some of his contemporaries may have been more technically skilled, but few players (of any era) have had the ability to read the game so intuitively, while also having such a profound influence on it’s end result.. It’s fair to say, it may be some time before we see the likes of James Hird pass by this way again...
I’m honoured to have witnessed his time at Essendon, and will cherish the memories.

Wonderful package just shows how good our champ James was and still is to this day.
His second and third efforts just brilliant his ability to read the play and know where to be second to none. can't say enough about his courage and passion for this game and for his beloved bombers.

A dominance of his goals show in these highlights, but his general play, decision-making and skills around the ground were often even better. He was elite. The best I've seen.
There are not enough superlatives in the english dictionary to describe how good James Hird is. And now the coach :) He's gonna bring back the glory to the greatest football club on earth. Go the Dons'

I could easily watch him for 6 hours. Even now, when I watch his highlights, I'm still in total awe of him. He really was the best player I've seen in my lifetime.
I met him 6 years ago and had my photo taken with him. He was just lovely. :)
I firmly believe the Dons will win a Premiership under him.

Do you have many whole games on digital media? There are a few Dons games I am hoping to track down... top of the list is the Dons vs NM 2001 round 16 comeback, and the other being the WCE game where Jim hugs a spectator... 2004 round 2 or 3 (?)

Everyone forgets that once upon a time essendon actually dominated Collingwood on anzac day and that is mainly down to jimmy hird. Thanks jim. Hopefully we can start flogging the pies again on anzac day. Go bombers

Essendon have clearly been the most dominant in history and even fairly recently, such as in the 90s and early 00s
They have the best 16 premierships, equal with carlton, and they have had some of the est players in history.

He may have been a genius on the field, few would doubt that, but his inability to accept any responsibility or acknowledge any wrongdoing for the supplements saga is bringing down the Essendon football club and irreversibly tarnishing his legacy.
This video is not about Hird the coach, it's about Hird the player. I would prefer people to just watch it for what it is and leave all the ASADA issues out of it.
