    I'm rewatching some videos. This one was always on my mind. Very good one with a lot of information. It's always good to listen Ian and Bob with their perspective of big operations.
    Talking about food safety inspections. I remember when we started building our honey houses in Europe. The honey extraction room was called laboratory.. we had to build everything in ceramic tiles.. we had to send specimens to be inspected for sugar and pesticides, herbicides... EU bureaucracy.
    In the end I became a non chemicals beekeeper. They made the decision for me with all the bureaucracy that was there at the start. Now they lower down the criteria a little bit.. made it easier but we remained certified organic Beekeepers. We get tested and inspected much more. But the prices of our products are much better. And I always have a contract in advance to sell everything.. and I know a lot of guys that have problems selling theirs for a lower price

    Here in South Carolina during the last week of February I was delighted to find boxes (single deeps) with 8 frames of bees. Problem is I run 8 frame equipment. Over the winter I built double screen divider boards after watching Bob’s videos. I didn’t even look for the queens. Made sure there were eggs in both boxes. On March 5th I had queen cells in every split. During those days we had nights that were sub freezing. Will check splits and divide new hives to a new yard in about two weeks. Our wild cherry trees are about to bloom in 7-10 day. Which will be the time our first suppers will go on. Because of the double screen divider boards our spring buildup peaking with the honey flow will be our best effort yet. I’m sold on them. Thanks Bob!

    I have a warming room too. Pipes in the floor, solar panels on the roof and a giant boiler outside , very insulated that brunches into two smaller boilers inside. The sistem provides all the hot water for the honey house. The room is maintained always at the same temperature and low humidity. But ofcourse it's all much smaller than Bob's

    It's funny that we bring our bees to sunflower so they can get fill with food for winter. It doesn't get extracted. Here in the south of the country there's a joke how that's not honey

    As far as feeding your bees Honey Bee healthy and things like that I noticed that when I feed my chickens enzymes my bees will drink their water that day but they never go to my chickens to drink their water unless I give them enzymes...so I think honey be healthy would be a good thing to feed your bees from time to time

  • @matthewmccormick2417

  • @td4190
    @td4190 3 года назад +1

    Bob do you bottle you honey with just one type of honey crop for each real type. That sounds very hard but kool. Does that increase your sales enuff for the work. I definitely prefer spring honey over summer. But being only a hobie bee keeper I can't really do that
