I was married to a Balinese woman and can not recom that. Yes nice and pretty, I still grateful for the two kinds we have but at the end it turns sour. She messing around, burning through my money and her behavior became rude. Now I married a Java woman and things turning much better. She keep the money, she care about me and the kids and help me with my construction project. Sometimes she even more German like then me. I´m now 10 years with her and could achieve so many things. The 10 years before was a hard time, not say waste of time, I´d learn a lot about human, especially Balinese. Think trice before you go this step.

The Balinese are definitely attractive although over the years I have had some attention which I ignore as much as I love the culture&warmth of the people I never entertain the idea as I love the idea of yearly time in Bali but not permanently and have a lot of travel to go&entertaining getting Italian citizenship as my idea would be splitting time between places whilst exploring more on flexible passport. I do not have confidence for solo in such places like India though&only been once&wish I could explore more with help&it is lovely to soak in a culture whilst not limiting options& locals can tell when westerners appreciate their aesthetics. My sister married an Asian man in Oz&the financial expectations from his family in his homeland made it complicated to visit regularly However, wouldn't it be lovely to have a partner in crime with similar values? If you are destined to settle with Balinese beauty it will naturally come to fruition&you would instantly get all the yummy local cuisine&extended family you could possibly wish for&never ending ceremonies Apologies,I waffle too much but hope you get all.your hearts desire whilst on your exploring quest,Ciao for now

I also noticed from my first time decades back, it is assumed mostly westerners are wealthy. I think balance is key as pros&cons to every country,Cheers

Sorry to say but from my Perspective if you are in Bali, you will find very hard to marrying a Balinese Woman since they usually tend to be more conservative and choose Balinese Man... Every Balinese woman / Balinese Girl I saw on the streets, Campus, School they are probably 85% have a boyfriend and ready to marry after graduated, and the Balinese Parents tends to "ENCOURAGE" the children to marry fellow Balinese to preserve Culture and Hinduism... My advice to you is you can live in Bali , but in terms of Relationship, choose other ethnic than Balinese Woman, such as Javanese / Manadonese / Sundanese... They tend to be more open minded than the Balinese...
Bali isn't really suits for Single Man Traveller in terms of finding Relationship

Hi Denny. Thanks for your insight into Balinese women and their alternatives, I appreciate it. I also think Balinese women would prefer a Balinese man who is aware and familiar with customs and traditions. Thanks for saying hi.

Stay single, enjoy your life. If you marry a Balinese, there is an expectation that you will have money and that you will provide for them and their family and all their ceremonies with your money. You will always be a tourist, you will always be a Bule, its called Racism. Balinese are beautiful people, but they want what you have, your money and many will sacrifice anything for money. True love without any expectations in Bali is a rare thing to find. Legally you own nothing, and never will. If there is any dispute, you will always be in the wrong, remember you are not local. We have visited every year since 1993, know lots of wonderful locals, and some of the best are of Muslim faith. We sponsor countless thousands of $, and we are always referred to as Bule, Sponsor. If you are thinking of marriage, advise your lovely that you are poor like them, they will soon walk on you. Money is the driver.

I say go for it. Indonesians make the best wifes. My wife of 17 years is the best partner. Her forthright attitude and will is beautiful. She is not a pushover and her anger is impressive. I call her a little banshi and pointed at rude backpackers in Darwin they chose to dive into the window of a taxi to avoid their destruction. We still laugh about it years later(:-)

I think it's a misconception that Southeast Asian women are submissive or subservient - most all the ones i know are really assertive. Happy for your long partnership, MrT.
