He perfectly captured the “quiet kid” persona where he isn’t that intimidating at first glance until you get the smallest glance into his mind and see how ugly it really gets.
My favorite aspect of this take on Riddler is that when they reveal his identity and you see his face it doesn’t look like the face of a killer. He just looks like an innocent, quiet kid who wouldn’t hurt a fly. That appearance makes Dano’s performance all the more chilling.
Seeing his face genuinely scared me. He has such a gentle face... but the expressions he makes are the expressions of an unhinged madman. The contrast is so incredible. ESPECIALLY when he started singing. That had the potential to be really stupid, but with context and his performance, it became a perfect taunt.

Love Paul Dano. Extremely talented actor. I think one of my favorite characters he played was the character of Percy, in cowboys and aliens. Definitely one of my favorite actors. Understated, but highly talented. Just fantastic work ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I actually enjoyed Paul's performance in The Batman however, before to see The Batman, I saw a couple of movies of his, and one of them was Swiss Army Man, and since that time, I became fan of Paul. In fact, he said in an interview "he'd love to meet Jim Carrey", who played the first Riddler in Batman forever.
Haven't seen this guy before and only seen this little clip of the Batman. In my opinion so far he did a great job of giving off vibes of "I'm insane." Will give the rest of the movie a chance before passing judgement.

If you watch it a second time 1: pay attention to every detail, it makes it so much better and 2: sit closer to the screen if you didn’t already, the movie is so beautiful and it looks completely different from closer up
I remember him as the young Martin in Taking Lives. He was a serial killer in it too and his performance is great in it too even though he is only in it for a while.
Paul Dano did an unbeliaveble act with the Riddler... Its was so insane how much perfect the psycopath was made and the acting was insanely incredible and fun to watch. Such an inspirational actor!
I figured out that this version of the riddler was very much inspired by the Zodiac killer so quickly. I mean i loved it. It made the character so much creepier and scarier, in my opinion.
This is such an underrated film. The whole singular idea, by Matt Reeves, that this is a man who is unhinged and unhealthily obsessed with fighting the criminal element at night who is constantly beating criminals to a pulp with his bare hands and with his unlimited amount of vast resources at his disposal. All he sees in the criminal element, in this corrupt town that his family helped to build and found dating back to the late 1800s, are the people who killed his parents as a young child making him an orphan. So, he dons the mantle of that which he fears the most, in the form of the Batman, after training for the majority of his life to rid his city of the evil that took his parent's lives. He dosen't know who was responsible for killing Thomas and Martha Wayne so every criminal he sees, to him, is the criminal that killed his parents on that fateful night when he was only 10 years old. He is addicted to this mission, like a drug, so as both Bruce and Batman, he spends all of his time, trying to succeed in this impossible task he has set up for himself. That's why he never sees the light of day as Billionaire Bruce Wayne and is a social outcast and pariah. He is a man driven by vengeance; by revenge. By the end of this journey, as we see Bruce on a physical, mental, emotional and psychological level and transform from a young, naive, impatient man who makes mistakes still early in his career as a crime fighter we see him then become something else by the end...a symbol of hope, an ideal, a form of inspiration that makes criminals terrified to step out at night and commit their atrocities that makes Gotham City one of the worst places to call home. A city with a history and a foundation steeped in corruption and crime that ties back to the Wayne family and and their vast fortune. It also plants the seeds that will give him the inspiration to step out in the light of day to transform into the billionaire, playboy industrialist more interested in dating models and driving fast cars in order to hide in plain sight so no one would be able to distinguish Bruce Wayme is actually the Batman. A man consumed by vengeance who transforms into a symbol of hope. Obviously a film inspired by the comic book mythos and Arkham video game series and Batman animated series from the 1990s. Ironically, a film consisting of character arc transformations and worldbuilding moments that is actually one of the most faithful Batman comic book movies to the original source material in the 1940s. Such as Detective comics issue 27 from 1937 and batman issue 1 in 1940 created by Bob kane, Bill finger and Jerry Robinson. Then, the new 52 comics such as court of owls and Zero year by tomeu morey, john ottley, Jim lee, Scott Snyder. Batman year one by jim lee, David Mazuchelli and Frank miller as well as Batman: the long halloween and Batman: ego and other tales. This essay is lterally just scratching the surface of why it's actually one of the best batman films yet up their with the likes of the Dark knight from 2008.

I loved how his Ridler was someone that was so many moves ahead, and then he at the moment you think he really is so far ahead, he reveals his hand and he's missing something. Such a shock.
Love Paul Dano. Extremely talented actor. I think one of my favorite characters he played was the character of Percy, in cowboys and aliens. Definitely one of my favorite actors. Understated, but highly talented. Just fantastic work ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
seth meyers is actually such a good interviewer
I actually enjoyed Paul's performance in The Batman however, before to see The Batman, I saw a couple of movies of his, and one of them was Swiss Army Man, and since that time, I became fan of Paul. In fact, he said in an interview "he'd love to meet Jim Carrey", who played the first Riddler in Batman forever.
Haven't seen this guy before and only seen this little clip of the Batman. In my opinion so far he did a great job of giving off vibes of "I'm insane." Will give the rest of the movie a chance before passing judgement.
This film was sooo good, I loved it beginning to end. All the characters were amazing. I want to go watch it again in theaters which I don't think I've EVER done, that's how much I enjoyed it. Also, on an unrelated note, I have to buy some saran wrap, lol.
It's even better the second time!
If you watch it a second time 1: pay attention to every detail, it makes it so much better and 2: sit closer to the screen if you didn’t already, the movie is so beautiful and it looks completely different from closer up
@@cybernetik. great advice!!
@@Tarantula_Fangs no problem! That’s from my experience
I remember him as the young Martin in Taking Lives. He was a serial killer in it too and his performance is great in it too even though he is only in it for a while.
Paul is looking so dapper! Can't wait to see him crush it in The Batman ❤
The Batman is almost perfect which is something I will very rarely say for a movie. Best Batman movie.
He did a great job in Batman. I was uncomfortable, angry, and happy at the same time.
Seth is so good with Paul and everybody. Makes me want to see
the movie yesterday.
He's got this quality. I can't take my eyes off him. I've been tracking his career since "Taking Lives"
Ugh word can't describe how much i love Paul
He seems like a really kind soul. I feel since Hoffman died Dano is probably the best actor working today quite possibly.
definitely! Dano, Michael Shannon and Joaquin Phoenix are some of our absolute best (IMO)
This riddler looks like the nice quiet guy you’d hire to be your secretary and to me that makes him so much more terrifying
Since I saw him as Brian Wilson in "Love & Mercy",I immediately wanted him to become more famous.
Yeah, he was great. That was a fantastic movie.
the way we talk about the zodiac killer really makes him feel fictional its so bizarre
I've loved him since Little Miss Sunshine and it's just so nice to see him getting the recognition he deserves 🤧
Paul Dano is one of the greatest actors that has ever lived. Him and Daniel Day-Lewis are the shining pinnacle of acting.
0:44 I like this part a lot for some reason
This Riddler (for this Batman Movie) could NOT have been better casted. Wonderful & freakin´ chilling work of Dano!
Pure greatness!!!
I really love this guy.
I love how seth always makes his guests feel comfortable
The zodiac killer would be feeling pretty full of themselves if they read this title.
This essay is lterally just scratching the surface of why it's actually one of the best batman films yet up their with the likes of the Dark knight from 2008.
him saying he’s a x-men kid made me realise that he would be an amazing professor x
There are times that he'd just make faces or have certain mannerisms that would make him feel less than human and he fucking nailed this role so hard literally this movie is so perfect and it resparked my love for batman
“I AM A FALSE PROPHET, GOD IS A SUPERSTITION!” - his best performance
He seems like such a sweet man 💕👍
Just by knowing paul dano, you will find some great films. He has impressive filmography
Dude's super well dressed!
