What Andy Serkis has done for Motion Capture technology is a lasting legacy for the medium of film and the art of cinema. If the Academy had any class they would recognize his contribution with an Honorary Oscar.
It's quite fascinating what avenues he has ventured with the use of CGI. The animals like gorilla and chimp are fairly decent in terms of impressiveness, however what is truly mind-boggling is that Andy Serkis himself, has even turned into real-world non-living objects like puddles of water, sticks, sand particles. He lays *completely* still for some of these, and for motion like crashing waves, he swishes and wriggles his body and rolls across the floor of the set (which is usually a padded box room, however sometimes he even does this at his home on the hardwood ground) and becomes the object. He is CGI itself, period.
Agreed, because what he did is what you'd really call, "outstanding" work. Nobody else has done what he has, so there should be an award named in his honor in some way.
@@Eric-km9ip Think that was really rude of them. He's the real deal. He actually ACTS! A lot of actors, especially out of the American tradition, present themselves doing whatever the part calls for. But when Wahlberg plays a role, he's being Wahlberg as that part. It makes for an authentic performance, but it also means you're only ever going to get Wahlberg being Wahlberg. With Serkis, you NEVER know what you're going to get. He's got a gigantic cast of characters, human and otherwise, waiting in his head to come out and fit any role.
