The kids standing around in various places on this set engaged in various aberrant forms of clapping along to whoever was performing. That's my main memory of watching this program.
Shivaree was a syndicated TV show that was almost similar to other teen-oriented music shows like ABC's Shindig & NBC's Hullabaloo. Thanks for sharing!
So the intro is the Ventures Diamond head from 1965 is that them playing I wonder or is it the surfaris ? Actually listening to it it's all wrong when it comes to the drumming, he's no Mel Taylor. Great clip though
The bass player ( far right) is Ken Forssi, who later joined the psych/punk band Love.
Glad to know it. I always thought that someone on the first Love album must have served time in a surf band.

Two hollow bodies and a mop top? Yep, the Beatlization had already set in here. RIP surf music...

I wish they were actually playing this live.
The best surf rock band all time period!
If you are talking vocals no one could beat the Beach Boys. Nobody was close, not even Jan and Dean.

@@bradsmith1189 Now there is an obscure reference!
Well done, this was a song by the Hondells, they have the best version.
Absolutely! Chuck Girard was amazing...no matter what he was singing!!!
Great music always.
the kids seem so happy without there ' smart phones'
And I'm watching this on a smartphone at work but haha you are right on the money 💰
Yo, we were surfers. We had no time for smart phones. Why? We had our girls with us.
The BEST version is the one Gary Usher cut as The Knights!
That one is the best version....I agree.
the Surfaris totally ruled!!!
Great drummer, and great band! I am starting a cover band that includes The Surfaris!!!
cantsdemort their album cuts are much better much more adventurous than this stuff!
I am getting a decent collection of their material, great band, great songs, and Ron is a psycho on drums & vox dude!

This band seems to just be copying The Beach Boys.
来日した時「勝ち抜きエレキ合戦」で演奏したけどど下手
Too bad …big beach boy sound…should of cranked some guitar stuff
-Hard to tell the difference between these guys & the Beach Boys lol
The Surfaris were always magnificent live. Great clip, and it's even better seeing Evie Sands and Barbara Mason in the intro.
Thanks for posting Starr... such rare footage..
This song should have been a top ten hit
Maybe in a world where no other music existed.
for nerds
Singer boys get the girls
Curiously sounds like a Beach Boys tune.......??
Looks like Jackson brown on guitar 🎸
