My mom graduated from New York Art school in 1946. Also studied in Los Ángeles art academies. This is how she taught me to draw portraits. She also taught me that for art purposes to draw the human body you would roughly sketch it at the size of 8 heads. She passed in 1996. Waiting for us in Heaven to be reunited again one day.
This is why he is my favorite artist, he doesn’t take everything so seriously and I envy that, he doesn’t get worried or overthink when drawing and is full of confidence, I learned a lot from him and because of him I actually improved a lot, like really a lot, I could draw many poses now and visualize things more clearly and flexibly, I also feel like I have gained a lot of confidence because of him, I just wanna thank u for helping us a lot and streaming a lot because it really helps, it truly inspires me, thank u! I’ve learned to accept mistakes and move on not only in art but in other things as well
I'm a budding artist, and I swear this made more sense to me than ANY other way I have learned to draw faces over the years from actual teachers. Thanks for this! I think this is definitely how my brain needed to see the "structure" in geometric shapes to really fully understand how to do my portraits.
great tutorial and drawing, Only thing is you should change the song every now and then, Wanderlust - AK is awesome but it gets old quick if it's the only thing you hear. a recommendation I have is also a song called Wanderlust but it's by Nomyn. just experiment with other songs 😁
@@hamedelshal Just want to clarify, I meant change songs throughout the video, like start out with Wanderlust, then after the song is over switch up the song with another example: 00:00 - Wanderlust by AK, 3:52 - Wanderlust by Nomyn, 7:42 - Breathe Out Breath In (Instrumental) by Roof, etc... if you understood my previous comment sorry for making you read this, I just felt I didn't explain myself well. thanks for taking my tip into consideration though.
I dont draw at all, and also don't know about art or drawing... But this process is awesome, one question there are draws that seems to have life or some kind of spark...why this doesn't have it? Not finished maybe? Other type if style?
Quite good. I would have marked out the hairline a bit differently and I think your nose and mouth distance was slightly off, but wow, good job. This has inspired me. i will be giving this a try. your neck is a little too wide, try matching the width of the neck to the colored part of the eyes not the outside of the eyelids. I recently made this switch and i much rather the thinner neck look. If you look at your reference photo you will notice that the neck width lines up with the outer edge of the colored part of her eyes as it narrows as it approaches the head and widens toward the body.. Subscribed, please keep content like this comming.
The Loomis method still isn't for everyone, unfortunately. I've been an illustrator for more than 20 years and I've never been able to use it. My symetry has always been distorted. And if I mechanically set up the grid (with a ruler etc), the final result would still look wrong to my own eyes.

Obvious skills but the portrait is dead without defining the eyes. That said it's the first time I've seen the Loomis method, so very interesting none the less.
U use Andrew Loomis method only if ur not copying ANY picture reference 😅. If u want to transfer reference picture to another support just trace it(makes ur life easier) or use grid method.
Great drawing ! Too bad you missed the little dimple left of your model’s mouth (right side of your drawing) cos that plays a great part in her kind of mysterious beauty.
@@droolpuppy1398 pay attention to it, it only needs some detail which you jave to add some shading and obviously the model's neck is quite broad not enormous as you have mentioned
@@droolpuppy1398 Yes it was not applied to give the idea to the artist to do them by their own and obviously the video's motive is to teach basics to make structures which contributes to the making of a person's head's model.
It doesn't look that accurate around the eyes shape, distance and face expression to be fair Edit: my bad, it looks like the picture is mirrored from what we see actually so now it makes sense

Have she gave her life to Jesus Christ?

Good video, but why do portrait artists draw so tiny. Seems to me that makes it hard to get all those details in the face.
