      @kevin smith ahh gotcha.. Sometimes it's not so much you being the one who's not into it, but because of parents or coaches who ruin it for you as a kid. My niece stopped playing softball because the coach on the select team she was was on would hit back rocket ground balls to the girls in practice and well it's not fun and discouraging especially when you're younger. Plus just because people enjoy something that you don't doesn't mean you have to like it. Respect each other's decisions. for ex: I don't really like watching tennis, but if my friend is playing in the match you best believe I'm gonna be the hypest one in there lol.

      Clint Cooper what I know as well. It’s a mystery to which reason is the true one that Jordan leaves to baseball. Only he knows what’s going on. Probably both true at the right timing. But whatever it is, he still remains the one and only person who retired from the peak of his sport and change to a sport he hasn’t touched for a long time and then went back to achieve another peak. The whole journey was a legendarily crazy.

    I hear when they were going to play the 95 season with replacement players, MJ was likely going to be among them, until he said he didnt want to make the majors like that, he wanted to earn it. I respect that.

    • @selfishstockton6123
      @selfishstockton6123 5 лет назад +19

      DoubleFailMech It still says something that a Hall of Famer in one sport wouldn’t want anything other than a chance to compete in another sport handed to him. He didn’t want to possibly take up a roster spot that could have gone to a minor league call up

    • @selfishstockton6123
      @selfishstockton6123 5 лет назад +4

      DoubleFailMech common courtesy is as uncommon today as it was back in 95. Just saying

    • @selfishstockton6123
      @selfishstockton6123 5 лет назад +3

      DoubleFailMech MJ never intended to make a full second career in baseball anyways. As for your false parallel it not at all like praising someone for not robbing you, since MJ didn’t rob anyone in the end after all. The White Sox wouldn’t have retain him on a contract if that was the case. He played in the minor leagues too just like all players do

    • @selfishstockton6123
      @selfishstockton6123 5 лет назад

      DoubleFailMech If MJ took up a roster spot, it was for more than publicity or he would have been a major leaguer from day one which he obviously wasn’t. For a man who had not played competitive baseball on any sort of level in easily 10 plus years he did surprisingly well and no one can deny

    • @1124-w9d
      @1124-w9d 4 года назад

      @DoubleFailMech i think it is praiseworthy because his dream from the childhood, one that he has said he shared with his father, was to play in the Majors. That opportunity was right there for the taking, and he turned it down. He wanted to earn the spot fair and squre, which is the right thing to do. You think he turned it down because he was afraid of what people might say? He spent his entire life under a microscope. If he was afraid of what people said about him, he would've quit when SI published the story "Bag it, Michael" Jordan was never a guy to back down from a challenge. He kept playing and i believe he would've kept playing if it weren't for the 95 MLB strike and the risk of him wasting is best playing years away.
      When someone chooses to do the right thing instead of what's easy, thats always worth some praise

      @Ulysses432 because it wasnt the NBA alone....it was the Mob. Theres proof in the Mob that Jordan had MILLIONS on the books in gambling. He wasnt paying alot of his losses. Guess what....Theres confessions from one of the top bosses in the Mafia who said his father was in fact killed for his debts. The Mafia and the NBA (in the 80s and 90s the NBA and mob were working together in gambling. They worked with superstars and refs to throw games...the NBA was the easiest sport to use for throwing games back then). The Mob and NBA made a under the rug deal that allowed Jordan to leave the NBA for 2 years and his past gaming debts would be paid and thrown under the rug. Watch Michael Franzese interviews about Jordan and The Kennedy family. Alot of deep shit

      Shawn Kemp no, no he wasn’t. He was a below average major leaguer. And if he actually was an amazing baseball player, his skills and accomplishments on the field would have never outclassed his skills and accomplishments on the court. He is the greatest basketball player to ever live, so for him to be better at baseball than basketball, it would mean he was the greatest baseball player to ever live. And we all know that is not true.

    Being from Chicago, this is just awesome to see! Harry,Stoney, MJ, and the park. Great memories. Terry Francona (a legend in his own right) managed Jordan with the Birmingham Barons, and said MJ was close, in face "another 1000 swings,and MJ would be well on his way". Here's a guy who hadnt played baseball since he was 13, and suddenly held his own in A ball. His remarkable competitive spirit wouldve made him an above-average athlete in prob several sports. Tennis,soccer, wide receiver. He has proven my theory with baseball & golf.

    A lot of people like to knock Jordan’s baseball stint, but I thought he did a very respectable job for a guy just walking into AA professional baseball, cold. He was a better hitter than most major league pitchers, most of whom are great athletes in their own right, who grew up playing shortstop and batting 3rd when they weren’t on the mound. Knowing his work ethic and competitiveness, I bet he would’ve made it to the show had he stuck with it.
