Dee Snider, the lead singer, went before Congress defending musicians from censorship by the FCC. This was a song that really tried to send a message that music can't be restrained.
Dee Snider the singer is one of the most intelligent rock stars...back in the 80s al gores wife was trying to censor music and he spoke on behalf of artists...she was hoping to parade Dee in front of the cameras and show how bad rock music was...he walked in like a kid in detention, even had his statement folded up in his back pocket...then proceeded to not only counter the argument with logic and intelligence but lowkey gave her the finger without her realizing it and made the whole ordeal look stupid...highly recommend watching the footage of it...
It went down as it should have. Gore's wife was a stuck up religious busy body trying to oppress our freedoms for our own good. I wish we had more Dee Snyders in these days of rampant moralizing censorship. All we have to do is not take it and fight it if we don't want them to tell us how to think.
Dee Snider was a family friend when I was a kid. He gave my sister and I an autographed record as a gift one time. I also remember being maybe around 10 years old and going to Church on Easter Sunday. Dee Snider was a few rows behind me wearing a pink suit with his crazy blonde hair teased out. I wouldn't say the band was going to quit without him. More accurately they did not rush into replacing him and gave him the chance to work his way back. When they played their first few shows they had a backup drummer on stage, but one day the backup didn't show up and the band didn't even really notice :) Luckily for everyone involved, Rick showed he could handle it with one arm, due to the new setup he had which allowed him to simulate complicated fills with his feet, so the band never was in a tough place where they had to think about replacing him. But had Rick not been able to perform up to the standards of a band of their talent, then we may have seen Rick decide to quit or even the band move on without him. But I do not think there was ever a situation where the band would have completely stopped if Rick wasn't able to continue drumming. They did replace founding guitarist Pete Willis for alcohol issues and Steve Clark was replaced after he tragically passed away. Given that, I think the band would have continued if Rick was not able to perform at a high level. But as I said, luckily it all did work out for everyone involved.

Neidermeyer is a character from the movie Animal House, he is iconic, and Twised Sister getting him for this video was awesome! Metal music was for the outcasts in the 70's and 80's. It was not mainstream. Great r action, it had the affect on you, they intended.
I think this song would pump anyone up that was getting bullied in school. I was bullied in high school for playing in the band. Now i play in a rock band any get to play all these cool songs. Great reaction! ✌️
Mark Metcalf, who plays the father, is actually an amazing person. He plays a ton of hollywood villains while remaining a cool person in real life. The fact he's able to evoke such emotion in people is testament to his skill as an actor.
Love this song!! I seen an interview with the lead singer Dee Snyder where he said he wanted the dad in the video to be like Wyle E Coyote, lol. Where they could just keep doing all this crazy stuff to him and he never gets hurt. Pretty funny video. Great reaction!! You're Awesome!!🙂
I asked for a Twisted Sisters' album for my birthday. I got She's So Unusal by Cyndi Lauper, Van Halen's 1984 and the Gogos' Talk Show. Not a bad trade for a 10 year old!
As a teen in the 1970’s I had a strict father that would not allow that ‘hippy music’ in the house. It only served to push me out and hang at friends homes. That’s one reason I enjoy reliving music from back then through your and other reaction videos, so thank you.

Back in 2016, Dee did a touching acoustic version of this song to raise money for the fight against pediatric cancer. It is emotional and worth the listen.
Dee Snider (the lead singer) spoke before congress in the 90s when they tried to make legislation to censor music. He showed up with his big hair, Jean jacket, and makeup and surprised everyone with his well thought out and articulate speech.
Hell, yes. That video came out in... what? Late 90s? Early 2000s? Whatever, it harkens back to the very best of glorious 80s schlock videos. Love it. 😎
The actor in the video is Mark Metcalf...he's best known for his role in the movie Animal House...if you haven't seen it, it would be a good movie for a reaction video...I saw Twisted Sister in 2008 before AJ (the drummer) died. One of the best shows I ever saw...
Love Twisted Sister. If you got Netflix, you should check out their documentary. Twisted Sister came out of their idea to dress in drag. Dee Snider wrote the song and lyrics as a way of rebelling against all their critics. Oh, and Mark Metcalf is a great actor. He got you to react just the way he wanted.
Funny thing my Daddy wasn't fond of a lot of my music in the day But he loved this video He said he got the same heat from my Granny He laughed his bass off Other than football Music brought us together To hear us going down the road singing to 80's country Well thank God you didn't just saying lmao Peace out my brother
Dee Snider grew up in the same town I did (30+ years about). I walked by him in the city one morning, nodded to him and said “Go Bruins” (our high school mascot). He smiled and said “go, Baldwin”. It was brief, but an incredible experience.
I'm forever reminded of Dave Chappelle when he talks about his white friend 'Chip'... he does a little joke about 'We're not gonna take it!'. Great bit.
Wasn't really a fan of Twisted Sister but this song is representative of what Rock'N'Roll stands for.......... Freedom Of Expression, Rebellion & Aggression..... against anyone who tries to stop us.
2020 Anthem! LOVE that you reacted to this! Believe it or not they have one amazing Christmas Album. You have to check it out seriously. Even if you don't react to it. Its so much fun!
Imagine being in grade school when this came out. My bus driver would play any tape you gave her. And sure enough one of the kids gave her this tape to play and it was the best bus ride ever.
OK this is seriously one of my favorite music reaction videos now!!! The actor who played the dad they told him to ad lib what the thought people would want to stand up against and he did an awesome job. Also, if you watch Twitsted sister videos from this time they loved looney tunes and the dad was Wile E. Coyote so to speak while Twisted Sister was the Roadrunner always outdoing him. Thus, all the flying through windows and the wall and getting water thrown on him after he lands. One I think you'd like by them is the price. Twisted sister was a band for around 15 years before they got signed they started in their teens like 15 to 16 and were in their 30s by the time they finally got signed. The price is about what it's like to dedicate your life to a dream. They wanted it to be serious but the drummer had them do some big fake drumsticks to add in the homage to looney tunes even in that video!
Video was blocked had to edit it like this to get it through guys thanks for staying and supporting

Neidermeyer is a character from the movie Animal House, he is iconic, and Twised Sister getting him for this video was awesome! Metal music was for the outcasts in the 70's and 80's. It was not mainstream. Great r action, it had the affect on you, they intended.
Dee Snider.
The pride of Baldwin Long Island, N.Y. 🤘🤘
rock on baldwin!
@@truffleandrosalie Born in Astoria raised in Baldwin 😎🤘
I think this song would pump anyone up that was getting bullied in school. I was bullied in high school for playing in the band. Now i play in a rock band any get to play all these cool songs. Great reaction! ✌️
😂 twisted sister. that is all.
(this was huge at the time, I do like it!)
Thanks for doing this Mr.Video🙏 This song has been the pump-up, for many a childhoods "rectifying" right-cross!!
I saw them in full drag at Camp Casey in Korea back in 2003 they rocked. We started a mosh pit during a Power ballad 🤘
Saw "Shaggy" "Wasn't Me" on Camp Walker July 4th 2005! USO tours are the BOMB!
2:25 I love that part, where his little brother is laughing at him getting yelled at, upstairs.😂😂😂😂
Jammin Hat and shirt!
MTV was awesome back in the day.
Need to watch the movie Animal House...the dad plays the same character...says almost the same speech to a fraternity pledge 😂
We have got to get you into the Scorpions. Live 1985 concert from Oakland, Ca is a good place to start......Rock you like a hurricane- definitely!
Meanwhile......turn it up! 🎼🎶🎸🤘😎🔥
Scorpions -"Rock you like a hurricane" was a fave of mine, despite it was more rock than metal and I was a die-hard metalhead as a teen
I love that this song is just so universally relatable to anyone who hears it
Fun fact: twisted sister is the only band to sell out Madison square garden before they signed a record deal. That's how big their fan base was.
Changed my life when I was 11. Then I released my own album 10 years later. This song is gasoline.
Respect to Dee Snider for his role in allowing us to listen freely and uncensored! Rasta Mr. Video today, mon, peace be the journey
That actor dude was a 70s-80s movie actor who always got the "head trippin,' prick" or "control freak" roles. Usually in comedies, but he was good at it.
Oh, we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh, we're not gonna take it anymore
We've got the right to choose it
There ain't no way we'll lose it
This is our life, this is our song
We'll fight the powers that be, just
Don't pick our destiny 'cause
You don't know us, you don't belong
Oh, we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh, we're not gonna take it anymore
Oh, you're so condescending
Your gall is never ending
We don't want nothin', not a thing from you
Your life is trite and jaded
Boring and confiscated
If that's your best, your best won't do
Whoa, oh oh
Whoa, oh oh
We're right (yeah)
We're free (yeah)
We'll fight (yeah)
You'll see (yeah)
Whoa, whoa, we're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
Oh, we're not gonna take it anymore…
pro-choice anthem for 2020
The lead singer Dee was incredibly smart and very professional. Watch the "explicit lyrics" court case. Everyone expected him to be stupid but his speech floored everyone on the room.
Love your videos man! Please react to ZZ Top Sharp Dressed Man! It is such a BANGER!!!!
I loved (twist his head off) .... You are one of my favorite reviewers .... You make me smile and I'm a combat vet with PTSD and smoke to go to sleep and not have bad dreams and drink too much. You help me because you always make me smile and relieve my anxiety. .... You are a good man and I appreciate you
You tell him Mr. V. ,. He's going to get his, just wait and see!!!! Love you man💞💞💞
This brings me back to my early childhood since I was born in 1985 and my sister was a metalhead so I grew up on this music
MY TEEN YEARS WERE FILLED WITH SO MANY GREAT BANDS, TWISTED SISTER IS JUST ANOTHER ONE OF MANY THAT PISSED OFF MY PARENTS ;)
The man's name is Mark Metcalf and he played Douglas C Niedermayer in Animal house. The biggest hit movie of 1978.
Love ya ready for this reaction
Back in 2016, Dee did a touching acoustic version of this song to raise money for the fight against pediatric cancer. It is emotional and worth the listen.
I was like 12 when this song came out..
Dee Snider (the lead singer) spoke before congress in the 90s when they tried to make legislation to censor music. He showed up with his big hair, Jean jacket, and makeup and surprised everyone with his well thought out and articulate speech.
Yesssss. Haha. This should be fun
Oh the memories of blasting this on my stereo in my bedroom and in my car on the way to school!! 🤟🏻
Ya man digg it!
Your face when you saw Dee Snider's outfit at the start.... DYING :D
I love how these songs still get the message across.
you gotta do "I believe in a thing called love" by The Darkness
Hell, yes.
That video came out in... what? Late 90s? Early 2000s? Whatever, it harkens back to the very best of glorious 80s schlock videos.
Love it. 😎
You don't have to take sh!t off anybody anymore - you have a whole army of 100K + and growing every day that has your back!!
I got you today❤️Tennessee
Another TN sister here..
just ❤ him too!
Here from Tennessee too! Hey ladies
That father at the beginning is how some parents treat their kids on quarantine. 😤🔊🔊🔊
I’m first! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😂
Ooohhh, snap!!! Twisted Sister!!! This is a great song!!!! Thanks for playing it!!! 🤟🎸✌️☮️❤️🍺🍺
They call a song like this a 'Rock Anthem' - and it was a banner that we flew from the moment it hit the airwaves. LOL. Glad you could join us ;)
80's glam rock at its finest 😆 And yes, that's his real hair!
Since the season is coming up, Twisted Sister Christmas songs!
One of the few 80's hair bands I missed seeing live. Next, you need to peep W.A.S.P.!
You were always my favourite youtube reactor
Funny thing my Daddy wasn't fond of a lot of my music in the day
But he loved this video
He said he got the same heat from my Granny
He laughed his bass off
Other than football
Music brought us together
To hear us going down the road singing to 80's country
Well thank God you didn't just saying lmao
Peace out my brother
" I WANNA ROCK" . follows one of the most iconic songs ever
Dee has a new beautiful version of this song now he sings against cancer. It'll bring a tear to your eye 😍
Dee Snider grew up in the same town I did (30+ years about). I walked by him in the city one morning, nodded to him and said “Go Bruins” (our high school mascot). He smiled and said “go, Baldwin”. It was brief, but an incredible experience.
WITNESS! The glorious birth of thousands of movie montages! If it wasn't Eye of the Tiger, it was this.
"Twisted Sister showing me the way" is the best reaction ever.
This was my first rock band I listened to as a kid (probably around 7) along with Quiet Riot. I'm glad you enjoyed their video and song.
They remade this song. They did it for childhood cancer. Its beautiful
I love you as a reviewer ... Keep kicking ass
I remember them from the middle of 80's, when I still was in school. They had also a bit called I wanna rock.
lmaoooo you look so damn pissed when the dad was yelling at the son hahahaha
“I’m trying to play the guitar. Better my future.” 😂😂😂
I lost it when you jumped up and started tucking your shirt in
😭😭😂😂 Your face when Dee Snider came on screen in the FIERCEST drag makeup ever was shock, disbelief and confusion. I live for that look 🙌🏽💥
I feel like this video completely epitomizes EVERYTHING about the 80’s!! Totally bat shit crazy, lol! But ya gotta love it!! ✌️💗😂
The "dad" was an actor from the movie "animal house" with John Balushi. He just adapted the character to the video.
I'm commenting again about A Boy Named Sue lol. I think you'd enjoy it after seeing your Devil Went Down To Georgia reaction. ♥️
Yes!! Leo would love it!
I think he’s done it. Type mr.video and boy named sue in search bar and if he’s done it it will come up. 🖖🏻🇨🇦
