    Sounds like the UK in the seventies where unions had far too much power.
    It didn't end well for the UK car manufacturing industry which was largely decimated.

    The model Y comes from Tesla Berlin, they ship them on trains to Sweden, German union members cannot hold a sympathy strike for another union. Most of the mechanics are still working there are only 7 mechanics out of 130 on strike. Tesla found a work around for the number plates issue. Bodywork repairs on Tesla used to be done at small independent garages. Mechanics said they could not repair Tesla due to IF Metall instructions. Tesla started to build their own inhouse bodywork shop so the Union changed their mind.

    Wouldn't it ironic if Tesla's unionized competitors all went broke and their workers went to work for Tesla? These unions are only self-interested, the interests of the workers have nothing to do with it.

  • @healeydave
    @healeydave Час назад +4

    I don't understand, Tesla doesn't even make cars in Sweden, why are the unions causing Swedes all this grief and potential losses. Are they doing the same to all the other car companies that import cars into Sweden??
    If these unions were really serious about protecting their members, they should concentrate on the aggressive moves Chinese companies like BYD are making. I don't condone the legacy car makes poor decision making that has led many of them to miss the boat on the EV market but I'm also not comfortable with companies like BYD that appear to be seizing this opportunity to go for the jugler and end the big brands whilst the opportunity is there for the taking. Tesla has played a fair game, they saw the EV opportunity back in 2003 and and led the way. It's not easy for a new car company to start up in the West and they had some difficult times early on but they deserve the success they made for themselves. I've read most Tesla employee's are more than happy with their salary and benefits packages and they're not bothered about being unionised.

    I think job losses in Germany will be greater and quicker. I describe Germany as being like the UK in 1965 - still thinking it was in a good place - by 1974 we lived in a world of powerccuts and mass unemployment. The collapse when it comes is much quicker than people realise and you then see panicked government intervention such as nartionalization as a measn of coping.

    It was inevitable that the dinosaurs would fight against their inevitable extinction. At the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, the workers used to throw their wooden shoes (sabots) in the machines to fight against the disappearance of their former jobs... and they failed.

    The service level has dropped significantly since the strike began. Before the strike, I could get a service appointment within 2 weeks with mobile service, but the last time I needed service, it took 5 months(!) of no-shows and canceled appointments, and I had to drive 500 km to get my problem fixed. And you’re wrong about one thing: I'm pretty certain that a majority of Swedes support the Tesla workers and the Union. We have a long tradition of unions and companies working together to benefit both sides, Tesla is anti-union and I’m sure it’s hurting their sales. My company is looking at alternatives like Volvo and Zeekr for our next EVs.

Only reason I bought a shit Tesla is at that time VW just didn’t have a good EV. Now it’s truly not the case.
