Hello and thank you so much for looking out for us old guys who cherish the old classic Goldwings. Your videos are incredible, nicely done, and very informative! I bought a Honda genuine service manual and have used it for restoring, disassembly and reassembly of my 1989 GL1500. It has been helpful but nothing like your videos, I don't think I will ever need to scour the pages again since joining your channel today. I will let everyone I know that could use your valuable information to also join. Thank you so much for the trouble you go through to help all the do it yourselfers out there, you are a very generous and giving person willing to share everything you learn!!!!
To add to your list of essential tools for tear down I would highly recommend a heat gun for pre-softening those rubber hoses and air intakes around each carb, I’ll even spray or soak some rubber parts with distilled white vinegar to keep ‘em pliable, so many of these items are just not around anymore in the aftermarket.
@@octanerestorations can’t sat that I’ve heard that one, I did mention the vinegar spray to one of my customers and he rolled his eyes like I had a bone in my hair and carried a spear, told him it’s tried and proven in chemistry class to soften many items. Had a good laugh with him about it anyway.
Been binge watching GL1500 videos and think, partly thanks to you, I will have one soon. Should be a nice contrast to a Honda Cub... Videos like this give me hope that owning one won't be hell. Cheers from the UK.
I would consider getting one that runs good if you don't want to do tons of work! If you get one of these as a project motorcycle they can be a big undertaking!
I took your advice about the JIS drivers and bought a set that included a 10” JIS for the hidden screws. Thank you for that info !! I had noticed the screws were caming out when i worked on my 94. And i also bought the pliers.
I am making a video about it, it is definitely a game changer! And the pliers just make life so much easier, I use them pretty regularly, glad it helped!
Just a tip for you my buddy is the Honda goldwing guy he's done over 40 of these bikes maybe even fifty he's been working on them for 30 years and there's a lot of things on these bikes that don't need to be there like the coolant hose that hooks to the bottom of the carbs plug that off there is tons of vacuum hoses though I know that so try to remember where they go or else you will be reading the manual for a while lol have fun on it
what happens if i swap the two hoses to the right of the carburator? i just bought a Gold Wing and when i start it revs rises until i cut the engine to avoid damage to engine and fuel shoots out from overflow hose/houses. i also realised that the overflow T-junction is broken so fuel gushes out on to the engine with so much pressure
is it an 88? If so honda issued a recall on the overflow fuel line with the t junction to replace it with a metal one. If that is the case and extra fuel is getting into the cylinders that could explain the revving so high. I don't know for sure if it would damage your motorcycle if you switch the lines (since they should both be vacuum lines) But I would switch them back. And check your idle screw while you're at it, someone might have messed with it!

Very good idea! Will add it to the re-installation list! And agreed! Have you heard about boiling them in wintergreen oil?

@@Mr.Innovator961 I will definitely give it a try, thank you! Seems like vinegar is a staple in the shop!

@@octanerestorations nice advice. I will be judicial with my searching and be willing to spend out a bit more for a well maintained example. Thanks.

How much will you charge for cleaning the carburetor on a Honda gold wing and where you located at
Was that motorcycle abandoned in the desert? How can it accumulate so much sand and dirt?
You're actually not far off😂 Here in texas we have tons of sand and dust storms
Have You ever drained the carbs via drain plugs on the Bike ?? I can not see how to get to them . Any hints would be great , Thank you for this Vid.
Hello! I have before, I could make a video on it sometime!
Why the music ?
It's very annoying.
