Man I've been playing her today for 8 matches. Lost all of them, and in some of my matches people said I don't heal enough. I just reply with ,, I'm a support not a healer"
I think it's going to be a tough transition for a lot of people to rely on less healing. Flex supports are just so strong and supports that don't contribute damage because they are busy healing won't succeed in the long term. Taking too much damage is not a healing problem, its a lack of pressure problem
@@ioStux The problem with this in mid SR Solo Queue is that it's going to insta-tilt your team into losing winnable games. I've played Kiriko a bit now and I can already see where it's headed, people who like the hero but lack the very high skill cap, are not gonna have a fun time...
Hmm, I played quite a bit of kiriko and of course she can't heal as much as someone like mercy, but she can definitely heals quite a bit, thanks to big chunk per heal at max (130) and swift step, protection suzu allowing for more mobile healing style. I spend more time healing than doing dmg as kiriko, which helps to win more in soloq. People rely on healing too much.
I think it’s important to note that swift step is also a cleanse and gives I frames to kiriko herself (the cleanse doesn’t seem to work on Ana nades but works on everything else). Dont waste protection Suzu on yourself if not needed!
Thats a very good point, but keep in mind that the i-frames are only useful in very very niche situations, like getting stuck by a cassidy grenade, or surviving a d.va bomb. So its important to not die when you could have just suzu'd yourself :)
Amazing video! I would hope you do this for every hero as well! Sometimes I watch you coaching sessions just to hear your explanation of playstyles of particular hero, as other videos usually don't cover that fundamental concept for some reason.
It's crazy how people can say the exact opposite from each other in their guides. A lot of people say kiriko is a viable healer if you can somewhat aim. As a newbie kiriko player, I did indeed teleport to low health people thinking thats her gimmick, let me tell you I found out very quickly what you were saying about not doing that XD many-a-times did I teleport right into a Dva ult D:
I also feel like being with your tank as kiriko is super risky since that’s where most of the enemy fire is. Equally as risky as flanking , but Atleast if your flanking you can see your teammates to swift step and also put the enemy in a pinch so there attention is split feather just dumping damage in the general direction of the tank
Seriously, this is one of the if not the best guide format I’ve seen in overwatch. Keep it up. P.s. bit sad about the onestar for OTP I love this champ so much.

Thanks for pputting somethings in context some pointers i was able to noticed with time using her but the grenade ability was my problem not healing or cleansing my tank at a moments notice, i won 3 comp matches after watching this, thank you
In addition to swift step I'd like to add , what it cleanses all debuffs like suzu . So it better to use it instead of suzu to cleanse debuffs and use ur suzu for ur team
This is easily the most helpful hero guide I’ve seen for any hero in Overwatch, and that’s saying something because I’ve seen a lot. Thank you very much. Please make more. Subbed!
Before I unlocked Kiriko I didn't think I'd get on with her that much - I'd played a fair amount of Moira and wasn't confident in my aim. Then I tried her and she quickly became my main. Broke into Gold over course of 3 seasons now. I'm still less confident with her than with Ana and Mercy. But it's fun having options for frontline, backline, and pocket styles of Support.
I love that her ult is so powerful, that you consider 120 dmg headshots, which probably spell the doom of any 200hp hero, as just a quicker way to farm her ult. Like, if you hit headshots consistently, you win fights 9/10 times by flanking and picking off a squishy, then teleporting back and going back to healing your team.
I'm not insanely good on high mechanic heroes but I found kiriko enjoyable for me to play and wanting me to play more. This guide will actually help me alot
new player to OW here, beautiful explanations! im very hyped to improve on her and one day maybe master her (me being japanese is definitely not a bias lol)
For new and less headshot capable players, it's always better off to heal more and shoot less. You should definitely try to be aggressive and snipe some headshots as kiriko but I think its cool to just spend about half effort, 50% in heal and 50% in dmg.
Yup! You want to balance healing and damage, its just important to apply pressure on top of keeping your team alive. Also keep in mind that the only way to improve your aim is to practice, so even with bad aim you have to try and land as many shots as possible to improve :)
I would recommend trying to lower sensitivity to like ~30, and then trying to keep your crosshair at head level, and use your left-right movement keys to keep the crosshair on the head.
@@aguyontheinternet8436 that's pretty solid, I usually just don't move my mouse in vertical motion and just keep firing and it will get some random kills
First minute of the video: Kiriko has a problem with healing. Uhm... have you played the hero? Im outhealing Baptiste on certain maps, not to mention Ana basically everywhere :D
Yeah wait a minute wtf this isn't making any sense. On paper, she has 78 hps, as well as a 50 healing burst suzu. Ana has 77.77 hps as well as a 100 healing burst grenade. Baptiste has a 49.42-68.93 hps plus 50-100 burst plus 50 healing over 5 seconds. All in all, Kiriko has a higher base healing per second than every other hero in the game. And people are saying it isn't enough?
This video is straight facts, ive been playing mostly as kiriko since launch and ive gotta say that kirikos that can consistently hit their knives can dominate games, its bad to try and focus healing cause her healing isnt great and really her cleanse is what really makes her a support, and her ult when used right can wipe teams in seconds
I haven't played OW since Sombra/Ana's release in the first one basically but this hero and a friend got me into it again so im still getting use to the changes. Healers are always the first to blame when we lose and as a main one, I dont think her kunais are more important than healing, specially with a second slow healer but thats jsut my inexperienced opinion, eveything else has been a huge help
The problem with kunai headshots is they're the hardest headshots to hit in the entire game considering they're so slow. Midrange and up-close they're not bad, but long range it's just luck that the moving target you're shooting at happens to walk into it.
I have played her almost exactly the opposite of how she is described here. I see a genji in the enemy backing and I Teleport to him, throw my protection so we secure the kill on his duel, then I heal him up and send him off again. Same with DVa, Winston, Sombra. To me she's great in a dive and her ultimate is for when you blink back to the cart death ball and you need to win a team fight. You aren't meant to fight for long in the ultimate, but it usually breaks the enemy death ball, and the enemies are forced to separate, your dive jumps on the weak heros and you are there to teleport to them and make sure they win their fights.
Fantastic guide!!! Best one I’ve seen/heard yet!!! Thanks for this. Although some of this is common sense… it is so helpful to run this video to remind yourself what you’ve got to keep in mind when wanting to stay focused!!
@@ioStux my pleasure. I also subbed! The video that I watched before your I fell asleep too 😂 To often RUclipsrs just give a brief overview and don’t have the strategies you put forth in this video! Very helpful!
I'd be curious to hear your take on how Awkward approaches the hero in comp. He essentially treats it like you would a flanker, where he comes at an off angle, gets picks and distracts the enemy team, and then goes back to his team when he gets in trouble and helps with healing until his CDs come back up. People either love him or hate him, but let's be fair: 1) He has demonstrated several times that it works in every tier, allowing him to win games and climb to the highest ranks (skrims and professional will likely be different). 2) Even if you don't like it his logic is solid: getting a pick means less healing is needed (dead people don't do damage), and distracting the enemy means his team needs less healing. 3) Getting the enemy team to waste their time on damage they can't convert into a kill and distracting them is value. Obligatory required mention of "support, not healer" lest I face the wrath of ML7. Here is a video showing his approach: ruclips.net/video/x6cIbRv5DJk/видео.html I'd love to hear your take... any time he is brought up it always gets spicy. XD
Kiriko does have pretty good healing, if spamming healing ofuda you actually do more healing than Mercy per second, but Kiriko lacks *burst* healing like Ana and Baptiste. But Suzu is extremely OP, and there's no healing better than killing the enemy team, which Kiriko can excel at if you are good with headshots.
PLEASE do this for supports first then all the others!! 😁 I had watched maybe 4 other cosching videos of yours before this but this guide really broke Kiriko down without going crazily in depth. Could/would you do teamfight scenario videos?
I actually prefer playing her in a Dive comp. I guess it just depends on your skills and situational awareness. Now I have been playing OW for 6 years so my game sense is way above average. All in all practice makes perfect 😊
I love playing Kiriko. She is a fun addition to the support roster. Why is she banned from rank? Both teams would have the ability to pick her, no? Now they are going to make nerfs/adjustments even though shes not getting any play in a ranked setting?
They want to give people time to learn how to play with, as and against her, so you dont have as many first time kirikos in ranked. Also makes sure there are no gamebreaking bugs in ranked.
Omg I didn't even notice. I'm cutting her some slack though, she's probably new to the game and doesn't know the map well, I definitely fell in there a couple times as well when I started out :D
I’ve been using her in ranked and so far I’ve won almost all my matches and I’m not used to being a healer but everytime I try and play dps the healers are trash and I’m not good at any of the other healers except maybe moira and zenyatta but thanks for this video it helps a lot
I was doing high healing at first too but realized that’s not her best role. Try weaving in as many kunai shots as you do healing. You shouldn’t be the main source of healing as Kiriko. She’s a support, not a healer. Took a while for me to get that, still working on it.
You going to be covering the other characters as well? I'm a very new player to the series. What characters could you recommend? I really don't know who I like in terms of tanks and DPS. But I love being Kiriko and moira
Yup, will cover the other characters as well :) For new players i recommend playing at least a couple games on all characters until you find a role that really speaks to you. Dont worry too much about min maxing, just focus on finding your passion! :)
It’s funny how he says she’s really bad in dive but it’s actually her strongest team comp (she’s great in all kinds of comps though). If swift step had a longer cooldown it’d be a different story
Bap has burst healing and more damage throughput than Kiriko, and his Immortality field is stronger. Because of this, Baptiste is better in situations where your team is outclassed significantly by the enemy team, for example when playing with friends who are worse than you.
I actually feel like the devs weren’t trolling putting the talismans on m1 and dps m2 I haven’t changed it and I drop avg 9k healing and around 2k dmg per 10 mins. I feel like the talismans being on m1 promotes the healing support playstyle but I’ve yet to try it changed.
genji isnt great with her in general, however.. the combo kitsune rush with genji's blade ulti.. Kind of insane and may even be better than nano-blade in some situations
I gave her settings similar to my Widowmaker settings but tweaked. Biggest help was lowering vertical sensitivity by like half, so it’s easier to keep crosshairs at headshot level.
I will say I do slightly disagree with the swift stepping to a tank in the frontline is a horrible thing you should never do. I find swift stepping, throwing down suzu, and then healing a tank is sometimes enough for the tank and you to hold your own against whoever is fighting the tank, but in a heavily unbalanced fight, for say a dva, low health tank, and you, yeah you're probably screwed, but if it's like a genji or something, i think the tank and you will be able to pull through and kill the enemy. especially if it's a reinhardt who can shield while you heal them, and slightly stun the enemy, so that's 160 when you get to them and throw suzu, then 290 once they use some kind of shield, and then once they do some sort of attack like reinhardt's rush, or roadhog's hook, or dva's fly, that's enough for your heal to reload and you can give them the third bust giving 420 health total, and then account for the damage the tank does to the enemy in that time, in addition with the damage you can help deal, and I think you're safe, AS LONG AS IT'S NOT AN OBSURDLY UNMATCHED FIGHT
Either Sojourn or Junker Queen will be covered in the next hero guide, yup! Although I want to get a settings guide out asap as well since its more broadly applicable :)
@@crirrus on a team that gives me a enough space to heal and attack it's 3k but that's only if the rest of the team either Argos enough or gives me room by staying in line of sight
I'd argue when your example at 3:25 should not really be a stacked team comp, no? Soldier and Ashe should probably play their own angles while Rein goes in. Just seems like stacking in a comp like that loses you too much map control. If you played it well even by solo queue standards for Masters/GM then you might not have more than 2 players in the Suzu or Kitsune.
The best noob tip is to not teleport to players that go in 1v5. Its temping for all of us but it never ends well. At that point you either have to stay back for the 4v5 or just accept defeat knowing your dps or tank is dumb af and thinks they can 1v5 every team fight.

Yes I will! I plan on bringing out a video each week, with coaching sessions uploaded in between whenever I get a good one. The next one will be a Settings guide, but after that I want to cover Sojourn and Junkerqueen! :)
The main problem is that she lacks burst healing. Someone like Baptiste of Moira for example have a much easier time saving people. While her HP/s throughput is pretty good, OW2 is very bursty compared to OW1, mainly because a:) Tanks now deal significantly more damage than before and b:) You have a lot less shields to hide behind. Ana's healing nade, Baptistes Immo field, Moira with her healing orb can get someone to full within a fraction of a second when needed. Hope that explains it! :)
I watched the cinematic on my tv, my subwoofer literally sent out a shockwave during that scene, my neighbours werent happy, but I sure was, such a good cinematic! :D
I totally disagree with the point that kiriko shouldn't be played in comps that have flankers. With a genji or a sombra on the flank you can start out on the flank and try to assist with a kill and then simply tp back to a teammate. This is extremely effective and at least forces cooldowns and attention for basically no investment at all.
Hey, the main issue is that the playstyle gets extremely punished in higher ranks. Youre more likely to get 2shot, and the enemy team will just run over your team 5v3. It can work in lower ranks however!
pretty cool guide so far but i cant finish this guide now. the music is driving me crazy 21 minute of a 16sec riff just isn't enough. Even though that's not what the video is about.
5v5 requires less healing? I wish. With the "soft reset" I'm Bronze again and people don't know how to play without double shield. I'm hardly getting any damage in as Bap because everyone just constantly takes damage and if I have to take my eyes off the tank for 5 seconds to fight off a flanking Tracer, the tank is fucking dead.
Hey! Yeah placements are really odd, most of my friends placed bronze 5 even though they were diamond before, Blizzard wants people to place lower so that everyone can feel like they climbed during the first season. One important tip I can give you as bap is to weave your primary and secondary fire, so between each secondary fire, you want to squeeze in one burst of your left click. It's not a reduction in Healing per second and allows you to apply pressure :)
I would love to, but I don't speak portuguese unfortunately, and subtitling videos is very time intensive :( I wish I could offer content in a wider variety of languages, guess I need to take some classes haha!

People either love him or hate him, but let's be fair:
1) He has demonstrated several times that it works in every tier, allowing him to win games and climb to the highest ranks (skrims and professional will likely be different).
Here is a video showing his approach:

I'd love to hear your take... any time he is brought up it always gets spicy. XD
Loved the video but can someone tell me the name of the song playing through the whole think please??
Thank you so much for this!!!
Great video ty
I love playing Kiriko. She is a fun addition to the support roster. Why is she banned from rank? Both teams would have the ability to pick her, no? Now they are going to make nerfs/adjustments even though shes not getting any play in a ranked setting?
They want to give people time to learn how to play with, as and against her, so you dont have as many first time kirikos in ranked. Also makes sure there are no gamebreaking bugs in ranked.
Dude, we need to talk about Orisa dying at 2:17
Omg I didn't even notice. I'm cutting her some slack though, she's probably new to the game and doesn't know the map well, I definitely fell in there a couple times as well when I started out :D
@@ioStux hahaha yeah i know, but was funny though. I fell there all the time also .-.
lmao
I’ve been using her in ranked and so far I’ve won almost all my matches and I’m not used to being a healer but everytime I try and play dps the healers are trash and I’m not good at any of the other healers except maybe moira and zenyatta but thanks for this video it helps a lot
I busted out like 12k heals in kiriko yesterday. She can certainly pump out big heals if you focus on it and use the suzu well.
It’s not, I scrim and its not the best support line
Thank you
I'm gonna have to switch her firing buttons on my console. Like moira I have to have attacking as R2 and healing as L2 or I'll go crazy
21:00 *ana main in ow1* perfect
POG ITS HERE
Great guide!!!
Hey ioStux, when would you play bap instead of her? (She seems to do the same jobs / have a better ult…?)
Bap has burst healing and more damage throughput than Kiriko, and his Immortality field is stronger. Because of this, Baptiste is better in situations where your team is outclassed significantly by the enemy team, for example when playing with friends who are worse than you.
Does this mean you will be continuing your In-Depth Guide series to include more characters? Very Exciting!
Exactly. As of now, we are planning to release an in-depth guide for every hero in the game!
Weirdly enough I can't hear "Protection Suzu" after this one anymore.
not the orisa falling 😭 2:19
I actually feel like the devs weren’t trolling putting the talismans on m1 and dps m2 I haven’t changed it and I drop avg 9k healing and around 2k dmg per 10 mins. I feel like the talismans being on m1 promotes the healing support playstyle but I’ve yet to try it changed.
the aim is killing me on console but despite the loses, I'm having fun. My team, not so much
Disagree with the 'sticks together'. She shines as she can dive to heal anyone within 35m as well as use them as an escape.
What settings does he use for the crosshair?
genji isnt great with her in general, however.. the combo kitsune rush with genji's blade ulti.. Kind of insane and may even be better than nano-blade in some situations
she is very fun heroes but very hard to expert without aiming or mechanic positioning timing and experience. she needs everything
I gave her settings similar to my Widowmaker settings but tweaked. Biggest help was lowering vertical sensitivity by like half, so it’s easier to keep crosshairs at headshot level.
how do you have GUI and ability colors turqoice and purple?
The moment you mentioned "confidence" I realized I shouldn't touch this hero lmao
2:20 which horse is that?
How do you change the hud colours for friendly and foe can't find them?. I play on a pc
I’m a support most of them time and I hate when people become Kirito and think they are a dps LIKE PLS HEAL then fight
Awesome vid! Sojourn next? 👀
Either Sojourn or Junker Queen will be covered in the next hero guide, yup! Although I want to get a settings guide out asap as well since its more broadly applicable :)
@@ioStux can’t wait!
Can these go over to console as well? Or is it mostly just pc?
Kiriko es muy compleja y espero aprenderla
2:22 the orisa falls off the map LoL
I'm not sure if my heals as kiriko is high or not but I get an avg of 10k per match which I thought was decent
thats really really good yes. im assuming youre only focusing on healing though, whats your dmg average with her when you have around 10k healing?
At that point you either have to stay back for the 4v5 or just accept defeat knowing your dps or tank is dumb af and thinks they can 1v5 every team fight.

do such a guide for winston or doomfist
Coming! But Winston way later than Doom probably
Guided for other characters are coming soon! :)
Awesome guide!
May you do another for Junker Queen please?
Yes I will! I plan on bringing out a video each week, with coaching sessions uploaded in between whenever I get a good one. The next one will be a Settings guide, but after that I want to cover Sojourn and Junkerqueen! :)
@@ioStux could you do a guide in OW2 Orisa also? there’s currently no guides on how to play her since her massive rework
@@recreationaldrama yup! I'll cover the 3 new characters first, and then cover the other characters, prioritizing those whove had the biggest changes
Kiriko is a dps character that plays like a b*tch, escaping to her teammates but also flames them. Ma main 🤙
Overwatch 2, a hero for everyone! :D
why is she considered a low healing output hero? her hps seems to be about the same as mercy and is not limited by range like she is
The main problem is that she lacks burst healing. :)
Kanezaka… IS UNDER MY PROTECTION
I watched the cinematic on my tv, my subwoofer literally sent out a shockwave during that scene, my neighbours werent happy, but I sure was, such a good cinematic! :D
nice video bro
thanks bro
lmao "oh shit button"
Haha thanks for the feedback, I'll keep it in mind for future videos! :)
It's not a reduction in Healing per second and allows you to apply pressure :)
put subtitles in portuguese in the video
I would love to, but I don't speak portuguese unfortunately, and subtitling videos is very time intensive :( I wish I could offer content in a wider variety of languages, guess I need to take some classes haha!
I thought kirikos healing was pretty good. I usually end with12000-16000 heals and around 6000 damage
Wouldn't 1 star one trickability for difficulty mean it's easy to 1 trick? So should be 5 stars if it is difficult
Yeah either way worked, I was worried about how it would be interpreted without the voiceover but ultimately decided that people will understand what I mean and just sent it haha
