For new sojourns you cannot one shot with your railgun anymore (it does 190 at 100 charge) so in ult try to get a headshot then body or two headshots on squishies at around 50-70 energy that way you can get kills quicker since it takes two shots to kill anyway or you can try to get a 100 energy shot then use a few normal bullets to secure the kill but from my experience it works better to just hit two quick rail gun shots
You should definitely play high ground with sorjorn. #1 high ground is harder to get to because half the OV cast isnt mobile and needs to use stairs. #2 for the cast that can’t make it to you you have natural cover of the ledge. #3 the enemies needs to force you off high ground unless they want you to constantly rain fire on them. That makes the enemy team focus on you and allows the tank to push forwards.

I also like to ignore the enemy tank and shift over him and then place my E behind the enemy backline so that they walk back into it and I can easily get a few kills. Obviously this is quiet risky but if you land your shots you can pressure the enemy really good.

Dec patch, where they "nerfed" her (kinda): "Secondary fire falloff happens quicker now / Critical damage multiplier is now 1.5 / No longer able to kill a full health 200 HP hero with a single fully charged Railgun shot / Primary fire damage increased from 9 to 10 per projectile / Overlock energy charge rate is being increased to 20% while her Ulti is active". And yes, she`s still OP (kinda) and super fun. Btw., loving the "Quake Kill" reference, I know what you mean! :)

The main issue is that with your primary, you track, but with your secondary, you flick. Flicks are easier when your crosshair is stationary. Constantly swapping between tracking and flicking is more challenging. So its one of those things that in theory is superior, but in practice reduced your Railgun accuracy too much for most people. Hope that explains it!
Thanks for the guide! Thoughts on using her energy ball for short area denial? I've had success putting it down just behind an enemy Bap window to deny or complicate use of the ult. But I'm only silver-gold, so I don't know if the principle would work well into upper ranks.
I'm no expert, however I thought the same thing. Though, it would probably be a 3rd option and even then it might be better to hold onto it due to the long cool down since getting a kill stalls pushes more effectively than area denial. But I was plat DPS/Diamond Support in Overwatch 1.
When I played pro tf2 i was a scout main, and strafing the same direction as the enemy scout was the easiest way to hit them, its a aim fundamental. You have to mirror enemy movements for the easiest shot. If you perfectly mirror, which obviously isnt akways possible, but if you do you wont even have to move your mouse, just click.
Haven't seen anyone talking about this but using your primary fire (left click) while using the ult will be more beneficial than just spamming your railgun, and since the railgun has a cool down you'll be more useful with using the primary than just waiting. Nice guide tho i learned more than i thought i would.
in between the fully charged shots there is like a sec gap. so using primary shots in between is essential while playing her. also as a sojourn main I really like to use primary shots to line up my railgun shot.
I’m playing with the mindset u say but I still feel ineffective maybe I just need to practice my positioning and aim better during a fight more. I’m diamond 3 and can feel effective on any character besides sojourn and hanzo 😅

Well, she is getting a huge nerf now in the next patch.

I would say this tip applies the most to sojourn as it feels like her railgun wants to whenever possible count as a body shot rather then a hs

For sure a few time I've used to trap an enemy support, like if they're in a room the then use ball on the doorway so the cannot escape
And dont forget to primary fire between railgun ult shots! Dont waste damage potential and kill time

I dont think it charges faster but it does soften them up so you can kill them with a body shot or a lower charge headshot.
