and then when they get old and sit on wheelchair 24/7 . . they will say " I need more spaces . no furniture . no more cabinets . I need my own room at ground floor because I do not need the stairs anymore ." .. believe me .. this is will be in their future
I love it! I think i actually prefer a cottage over a tiny house. I've never needed a huge amout of space to be happy... This would be perfect :) i love cozy. And this is definitely that :)
Same here. I lived in a large, ranch style home as a kid growing up. Even when I became an adult, it always felt too big. We moved into a smaller home and I actually liked it better. I'm just a cozy type person tho..fireplace going, cute comfy furnishing and enjoying good company. I dont need a manchion bc it's just a glorified storage facility 😐
I agree, cozy doesn't have to be cramped or have unusable space. All of our kids are grown and it's just the 2 of us with our dog. I would LOVE to live in a house like this or very similar in a quiet spot. It will do my head, heart and soul good. I can't handle the noise like before.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this house!! So many cozy little spaces!! Having separate rooms makes you feel like there is more space, and everyone can be busy in their own little part of the house. This is my favorite house by far. Lovely little find!! Thanks for sharing!!
I have looked at many videos of tiny houses and most seemed cold and uncomfortable; especially the living area. This cottage was oozing with personality, warmth, style and grace...If I lived alone, it would be a place that I would never feel alone because it has so much personality. I adored all the nooks and crannies, especially the "man cave!" I would rename it my "woman cave!" Finding something like this in Houston would be a true "diamond in the rough."
Yes...tiny houses have those ladders to climb to go to loft bedroom...which anyways is cramped..... loved this house with stairs... much less stress on knees when you get on years....also the house is cute with all those knick knacks....🏠🪑🧸🖼
but I don't agree - the video is about both her and her home that she created, allowing her to make some major changes in her life. You stopped here to see the house.
640 square feet. 2.6 acres. $17,500. South Central Florida. I like Tiny Houses. But they are not legal around here except in an RV Park. And their two people over 55 and 2007 or newer date of manufacture make it hard.
The cameraman obviously adores the host, but I'd rather have more footage of the details of the house than close-ups of somebody talking... looks like a very cute cottage, but I don't feel like I really got a sense of the layout from this... :)
She wasn't trying to sell the house, just staying the night with her family. She was kind enough to give us a tour, which she didn't have to. If it was YOU or ME doing a walk thru, we would be critiquing various things from our own point of view and how we could personalize it. Actually, if you ever did a walk thru with a real estate agent, both the agent and the client would be doing the same thing. Again, she wasn't trying to sell the place !!! If you want more info then go to the listing at Air BnB, Cookamonga, Georgia and see if they can do a better presentation. And, NO... it does not have a master bedroom. But, forgive me for saying that one of the areas could be converted. Was that to harsh ??
Funny you mention a master growing up I never knew anyone that had a ‘master suite’. I never knew anyone that had two bathrooms either. Lol. People have gotten completely rediculous and wonder why there is no middle class, this and a lot more reasons are why. People have totally lived over their means.
Grave Walker Shutup I agree with Denell. The whole time I was thinking "stop showing her and show more of the house." Switching from room to room and not showing where some of those rooms are in relation to the others was annoying. Maybe I'm spoiled by other channels that do house tours how they are actually suppose to be done. I dont care about what she thinks should be done I just want to see the house and its layout.
You definitely nailed it. No one seems to show homes that a small, but more than 400ft. Plus the need to have bedrooms with out climbing ladders. please please do more of these.
I agree with Karen, i am disabled with a small family and have always felt guilty living in a small 1950s style house. Carbon footprint and abilities need to come together with functionality.
I built a tiny home and we lived in it for 5 years. The largest home we have lived in was 2200 square feet. Now we live in an 800 square foot small home. I have worked on houses where the Master suite was 1500 square feet. From my experience, I would have to agree with you. A house between 600 and 1000 square feet is big enough to live in without feeling like you have been sent to the corner and yet small enough that it is easy and economical to maintain. Like the Good Book says, Keep your eye simple and your whole body will be bright. Matthew 6:22
The kitchen is the "Heart" of the home..love this so much...love the color of the kitchen, very warm. Love all the colors in this house. This is perfect for a single person and a dog or two...
I like this. My husband and I bought a 500 square foot home. One level. We have no children. However, it was 2005 when we bought the house. In 2013 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and now I am in a wheelchair. It's very hard to maneuver myself through the doorways. She is right when she says you need an outdoor get away. I wheel myself onto the front porch everyday. Mostly for my sanity! Lol. The house is white painted clapboard with a brand new green metal roof. A year after we moved in, my husband installed a white wooden picket fence with an attached arbor. The comments regarding the fence were overwhelming! We call our home Harmony Breeze Cottage. Just a little piece of happiness I wanted to share.
Get tested for mercury toxicity, both hair, nails and blood. Do mercury detox, get the dental amalgam out of your mouth. Good health to you. Deeply felt.
Did I miss something??.. where is the "master bedroom"? I only saw one room, though I saw two potential spaces ( the classroom/man cave and the upstairs lounge area that is separated by curtains).
Quoin Entertainment I was waiting for the master bedroom too. I believe the one with the balcony is the master. But they turn ed it into another lounge.
I love this little cottage. There are only 3 people in my family and I find this very soothing, rustic and charming! Very useful thought of space in this little cottage.
This is very cute - but I couldn't really see much of the interior because the cameraman was so intensely focused on the speaker. I really would have liked to have seen the rooms and the details, as it seemed quite quaint.
Was this a video about her or the cottage?.. I would have loved to see the house instead of the hostess....you need to make another video showing the house not her...don’t get me wrong she is pretty and her voice is pleasant but I believe the cottage was the subject...
Mara ..well I think You may have forgotten where You were dearest:this is HER house,as so she will be Your guide for the evening.. furthermore Mara, ill be going to see what videos/content you’ve made to tell her “that she need make another video”. -I thought it was cool she made this one.
We had a large old victorian house but my mom likes those cut outs too. She asked her husband (the guy I called dad) to cut a hole in between the living room and the kitchen (saying she's social too if people are over she would like to not feel trapped in the kitchen like the maid). He said sure no problem (but of course weeks went by) she went and took an ax (he's a construction worker he had a whole shed full of tools) and she cut a hole in the wall. Really ticked him off saying why would you do that now we have a hole in the wall. She said more incentive for it to get done. Anyway she got her cut out and in the middle a table was made within two days that day included lol. A round table so it served as a dinner table as well as a cutout where we could all converse back and forth. I miss that house I lived in it until I was 18 from the time I was four. It was a great idea and it saved on having to get a table by doing that. It didn't need legs because the wall served to keep it up.
Yep thats what mom said pretty much dont buy a car from a mechanic, when they come home the last car they feel like working on is their own. He was that way about working on the house. It was beautiful when he finished though. He only did it because the hole just sitting there on the wall was ugly and he didnt want his friends seeing it lol.
I absolutely love it some of those tiny homes I noticed have been getting extremely expensive and I was thinking what's the point so this actually works because it's a home but small enough to maintain I would definitely love to see more of these thank you for sharing
I sure agree with you. If a tiny house costs so much, why bother. The whole point of a tiny IS a way to afford a home, not another way to go into debt. Now that builders find out about these cottages, she speaks of, they will take over that too and their price will go out of this world!
just check the net there are many builders who still make the starter tiny homes for decent prices.ijust watched yesterday a guy debunking the new saying that tiny hoes are to pricey now as well so just do a bit of reasearch gl and i hope you find whatever you are looking for
Darrell barron Most of those starting prices are without upgrades. They charge extra for customising the tiny house to make it comfortable. Without those upgrades, a tiny house is not much better than an ice shack. The cost piles up when all the upgrades are factored in.
Loved this little cottage and thought many of the negative comments far too critical for the 'mechanics' done for our viewing and information. The only complaint I'd consider serious is the layout of the kitchen, especially can't imagine canning with almost NO counter space esp.next to the stove !!! Excellent idea on switching dining / living room space! ALSO the upper level shows lots of 'master bedroom' space ... (silly complaint! as well as 'supervising children'- i like keeping my little ones safe & happy!) This video was a colorful treat !! =) Thank you for posting. Really loved seeing it!
It was a nice video. Probably all the tiny home suckers that thumbs down this video. Let's remind them why they are mad, .. Because you paid 50-80 grand for a 300sqft trailer home. For that same money, I built my dream home.
Agree totally!!! So long as you have good audio we don’t need to see her the whole time! The whole idea was to see the house but it was about her and her ideas.
@@jakartaman3365 these videos are drawn out for length and made to keep you hanging - part of the requirements to make $$$ off them from RUclips and sponsers...Fact.
Made in America! I used to build log cabins for a private contractor in Northern California. Kits and custom. He was really good, and he even had people in South Korea fly him over there to teach them how to build log cabins. Sadly, I'm no longer in touch with him and last I heard he was in bad health. Doesn't seem to be a very big market anymore, sadly.
Absolutely. Cabins, cottages can be super versatile. This looks much more comfortable than some of the tiny houses I have seen. Even when I was renting my biggest thing was room for the piano and possibly a china hutch.
I just sold my 3 bedroom, 3 bath home and downsized to a vintage farmhouse that is 570 sq ft. It is perfect for one person. Years ago many local families lived in my farmhouse before it had electricity and before there was a running water and a bathroom. Amazing. I also bought a tiny home for 10K, about 3 years ago for emergency preparedness. It is really sweet, 8x18' with 2 lofts. But it is WAY TO TINY for me to live in full time unless I ran out of all options. I also have a few friends that have already up sized from their tiny homes. They are cute but you can go nuts actually living in one. I would advise anyone to shop around and buy a small home instead of going with a tiny home. You will be much more comfortable. Take advice from someone who has had several large home, a current tiny home as well as a current small home. Go small. Just my 2 cents.
I would love to find something like you have. I live in a small condo, but between the real estate taxes and association dues I HAVE to work (and I'm a senior citizen!)
Sounds like we have similar lives. My old large home was the same size as yours and now we both have small homes within just a couple of sq. feet of size of each other. I am also in the woods on an acre of land in Western NC. Where are you located?
Yes, small vs tiny is wonderful. I hope more people would consider buying small homes instead of going tiny, After seeing so many people and several friends abandon their tiny homes for small homes, I think tiny home life is only a phase. The price of tiny homes has gone off the charts- as far as expensive. Are you kidding me? With a stick built home you have land and in most cases property taxes are less than renting a LEGAL spot for your tiny home. A small home gives you more space and options. People seem to have fallen for the "dream" of tiny house living. When you are going on 90 days living in a box (especially in the winter months) cute soon becomes cramped. Sweet becomes stir crazy. Imagine years in a box. Some can do it but if you shop around you can find small homes on land at very reasonable prices. I am not downing people for living in a tiny house but if you take time to consider your options you may find a way of life that is much better for you in the long run.
Just so you know Carpet is an insulator. I'm on my 3rd house with hardwoods and it's much colder in the winter on hardwoods than it is for the carpeted rooms.
I agree. And we have pets. We have wood floors and then we use a throw carpet in the area of the living room where we set. It is colder, but I'd much rather have it a little cooler and be able to just sweep and mop every thing clean. I don't care how often you clean carpets, unless you live totally alone and have no life, the things are nasty. That's been proven. They can hide mold and mildew too. And carpet is really expensive when you consider how easy it is to ruin.
Keith U Keith, carpets are not easy to keep clean even if you're a clean freak like me. Area rugs are actually easier since they can be switched out after awhile or cleaned and allowed to dry seperately.... If you clean a carpet with a professional machine thoroughly you can't walk on it until it's completely dry, which isn't practical. We had carpets in the house we bought and got rid of them ASAP. They might be fine in some rooms but harder to keep clean in high traffic areas, such as a living room or den. And studies have shown carpets have things in them you can't even see with your eyes, even if you keep your house clean. I'd suggest someone putting down new floors, put in a heated floor system IF that's in their budget to do, instead of carpet. if not, use area rugs where the floor gets coldest; OR a combination of heated floors AND area rugs, is the best.
In general it would be helpful (in other video's too) if there was something like a (simple) floor plan included. And, show more house - not so much the "moderator". :-)
Barbara Manor Or just like, show the complete room and how the house flows on camera so the video isn't just going from one random shot of a room to another random shot in another room
Ana Peric who ever u are, these are very good suggestions, not criticisms. filming in such small spaces its hard to get the just of the space and how its laid out or flows. so these are valid suggestions. your comment of "complain" however is not!
I live in a small 540 sf studio apartment, which is to the side of someone's home. I have my own adorable patio with a nice gate which locks with a deadbolt, a separate entrance off of the patio with a security screen (making it feel safe enough and comfortable enough to sleep with my front door open). It comes complete with a stackable washer and dryer, two closets and a kitchen with lots of storage and a full-size refrigerator, as well as a full-size bathroom. I'm very happy here in my little haven :) I have always loved the tiny homes, but as for myself, I think a home with a 500 sf range work best.
Thank you so much. Wonderful video. Don’t worry about not showing more of the house. The idea of how a small, real hose on a property is better than a tiny hose with no land, is very clear and well illustrated.
I am honestly shocked at some of the prices on tiny homes. I bought my house, 720 sq ft on 1/3 acre for 49K. Plenty of room for me, the dog and the cat. I have had to put money into the house, but I can do things as I can afford it without being chained to a mortgage payment for 30 years.
Yes, the prices of tiny homes are insane. I purchased a 570' small cottage on an acre of land in the woods, near a river in a beautiful area. IT has 250' covered porch, and a 110' sleeping loft, bedroom, 110' shed, root cellar and carport. I bought it for 65K . It did not need much work - for me it was about painting, and adding new appliances. It came with all appliances but I bought new ones. I add to it here and there to personalize it as i see fit. I have my 8x18 tiny home parked on my land also. I may use that as a guest house one day or move it to another location to create a get away. i paid 10K for my tiny home and added upgrades on my own. I hope people stop and consider that it may be a better idea to purchase a real home instead of one on wheels that is way over priced.
Chaz Evansdale For ability to build small due to lack of code or code enforcement there is most of Alaska, half of Missouri, one county in each Arizona and Idaho, and still several houses built smaller than 800 sq ft all over the U.S. that were built small before building code mandated a larger size for the banks(especially in gulf states)...
there are little one and two bedroom house that just need a little love all over missouri. We are buying one that is 2 beds for $40,000, and adding on a small master ( we have three children) it just needs a little elbow grease.
I want a little cottage just like that. I love all the little nooks. It transforms the layout into a map of special places, instead of simply a floorplan.
manic hairdo Yes! I notice I'm much less concerned about scrubbing this and polishing that. I'm just plain old tired of it, and realize it just doesn't matter.
I'm with ya ladies. I had a huge Victorian farmhouse that was finished on every level B/1/2/A. And I had filled it all up with stuff I enjoyed through the years. Well I sold it and appliances. And got rid of ALOT of the furniture. But I still kept some of my antique stuff, including depression glass, jadite, etc. I've always had a small dog and now 2 cats with it. I haven't even unpacked ALOT of that stuff I kept in this small 2 bedroom house I live in now. It's hard enough keeping up with the cat hair much less dusting the rest of that stuff. I'm retired now and have other interests. I preferred to have a craftroom with cabinets & drawers to keep my stuff in. And a big open area where others can come and play too. I have hardwood floors too. And I love the 2 cats I inherited, but once they are passed no more. Who wants to spend theirs days cleaning all the time? Yuk! It's my time to get out and have fun.
@@jaditelady173mary4 I hear you! And THEN there's the issue of the "CAT'S HAIR". My Persian keeps manufacturing fur knots to the point that I'm afraid of CPS (cat protective services) stepping in and trying to wrench my girl out of my arms because of the entanglement nightmares! I rent a house with the same predicament though. My new landlord (his grandmother can no longer manage all of the properties including the one I'm living in) has been very accommodating despite the scattering of tabby-colored accessories. . Since I resolved myself to spending the final years of my career working for a non-profit organization providing clinical services for little kids, I've found that my income is non conducive to achieving the status of home ownership. Up until about the last year, tiny houses gave me a little hope until the price of living off grid rose to an average over $100,000 for a house on its own land. Unfortunately, contrary to the theory of the pretty woman presenting this video, realistic prices for cottages I've looked at have been even more, and I've checked in areas where housing tends to be much less (which means a long commute to work or one that is really unrealistic. This person appears to have stumbled onto a situation that is the exceptance to the rule (sorry, spell check couldn't help me here!) I do love the idea of living in something a little less claustrophobic, though.
This is just adorable!! So refreshing to see instead of all of the massive homes everyone seems to be obsessed with! You have done a great job, nice tour! Thank you!
Would've loved to see more of the house...the title is pretty cottage better than a tiny house, but mostly what we saw was your pretty face. You can talk behind the camera (or next to it) while the videographer is shooting, and you can narrate what he is seeing (or better still, you do the videoing and talk about what you're seeing). Just some suggestions ( and I see I'm just one of many making a similar suggestion).
A do have to admit that she makes reference to this place being more family oriented, and that a room designed for a mom to focus on work and family is important too. My kid is grown up now, but I understand what she meant. You have to be able to be in the same room with your kid(s). When my son was growing up, I studied and did all my class work for college in an tiny room, and found that to keep my son safe and engaged in play that was beneficial to him, my being there with him was inherent to my goals as a mom and as a student despite my being distracted by his "adventures"! My son has taught me so much even when he was little. He still is my best teacher now that he's 41!
This is an adorable house that some paint would make it lovely. I'm thinking this would be fantastic for a retired couple, who maybe enjoys traveling and a home to return to that has not much daily upkeep and nice outdoors. Thank you for this most enjoyable video!
CHRISTINA WHITE My husband and I are retired, and just bought a house that was a little less than half our old one. We had a closet so big it held a vanity and small chest in addition to the clothes for 2 people! 5 bedrooms, 2 dens, dining room, a front parlor. We couldn’t wait to get smaller house...Goodwill and a thrift store nearby got really lucky! Our kids and grandkids don’t live there any longer. It just seemed so wasteful. I’d love to find a small cottage like this one!
I'm leaning more towards a cute cottage instead of a tiny house. I dont need the mobility, but I need the clever space usage. A square-ish cottage would be easier to work with for space I think. I appreciate all the commentary. It's helpful to hear your experience and ideas to help shape the space if you have different needs. Would love to see more tiny cottage builds on youtube!
I thought the exact same thing as you.... I remember thinking when she's talking about certain features the camera is stuck on her and seemed reluctant to turn the camera and to show what she was talkin about .
Really cute cottage... I need space to feel free... we built a 2000 sq ft barn house with 1200 sq ft living space for $38,000... debt free.. loving the homestead life :-)
I really Love this one. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ *When your children become Teenagers. Doors/ curtained off and private spaces become extra important*. To both the Teenagers AND then Parents
There was another room downstairs that could be used as a bedroom. Man if people could see the little house I grew up in. Before tiny houses had a name. It was under 500sq feet and five kids
I love watching tiny houses video but I notice here the one who’s taking videos is focusing on the woman than the house and the stuff and so fort ... My Goodness
Very sweet little house. Love the different areas... downstairs.. nice spaces for art, sewing area, another craft area, a work/home office area, and living area. Ideal for a single person too.. who loves projects and also working from home.
I bought a small home 🏡 1000 square feet and it’s wonderful! I’m so happy I went small and it cost less than most tiny houses. Outside storage & small yard . Even though I’m obsessed with viewing tiny house it seems nearly impossible to stretch your legs and cozy up with a hubby on a couch.
I find cottages charming and functional. I do not like tiny houses. I feel that they are overpriced and not practical. There's little room to move around, there's no room to play for kids, there's no room to sew, or can, they aren't conducive to having a well stocked pantry (which I consider to be essential to running a home). I like cottages and small wartime houses much better for a family. You don't need a 10,000 sq foot mansion, but I suspect that the tiny house movement will lead to a lot of divorces down the road. That's a lot of togetherness.
pennellkay, just curious, what were the 3 rooms? kitchen, living room 1 bedroom? 2 bedrooms and kitchen? Did you count the bathroom, or did you not have one? I once lived in a very small house with another person, in a secluded mountain location. Kitchen/living room/everything else was all one room, there was a small separate sleeping area. We had bathtub outside on a covered porch, and an outhouse down the hill from the house. Big wood-burning cookstove.
pennellkay your family must have had terrible financial struggles. I'm so sorry. Your poor mother must've worried a lot. I'm glad that you remember a happy home though.
We built a small cottage back in 2011. We went with about 1200 square feet and super insulated -- it uses less than a cord of wood to heat in Wisconsin. Like this place, we have the laundry in the kitchen, and will be installing lift-up stairs for storage as well as stair riser drawers later this year. A tiny house would be too small for us, but we wanted to go as small as possible after living in a 3000 square foot beast for our last home.
Right. Some of those ladder arrangements would drive me bizzookeez but lots of ingenious storage solutions and kitchen/galley arrangements. Even with one of those good old Coleman little gas cylinder stores, a couple of pans and a dutch oven FOOD GALORE. I think cooking is an art form anyway. Maybe some of us are homozygous genetic for the cuisine gene. Lol.
You tell us that this adorable cottage is in Chickamauga, GA, but don't tell us the name of it or give any links to a way to contact the owners (or airbnb or whoever) so we can find it. What is it called? Where can I find information about staying there? I also agree with the other comments about showing more of the home and less of the tour guide. I assume the photographer is her husband, and sure, he wants to look at his wife, but the point of this video is to show the cottage. Hopefully in future videos you guys have done better at actually showing the homes.
For a family of 8 our 4 bedroom home is a small house. Tiny house=200-400 square ft. 300x8=2,400 square ft. Bam! My family per person lives in a smaller amount of space than most of the people in the tiny house movement.
Raymond Etheridge You guys say that, but my grandfather grew up on 3 room shack with eight kids. 2 bedrooms, 1 for the boys, 1 for the girls. The main room had the kitchen/dining/ living room and my great grandparents bed. Don't tell me you can't fit 8 kids on a small space. We did it 100 years age, and people generally turned out fine.
I've been wanting a small cottage forever just been having problems finding one. That house is so cute. I would buy something like that in a heartbeat.
Chicka' MUNG- gah Yes that is cute! We settled on a finished single wide mobile home.. We've added a 12x40 front porch and have someone building a 12x24 deen on the back.. We are on3 acres.. I donot have recent photos ... But it is nice., And we ordered this mobile home with 2x8 construction / 6 inch thick walls- higher side walls - upgrade roofing ..( 49k) I'm pleased -- and I have no debt..
I agree. Small cottage way better than a tiny house. So much bigger. I would have designed the kitchen differently and bigger with all that extra room.
I have always loved a cottage. And this one is very well organized. The balcony and porches are wonderful. Thank you for videoing this home. I totally understand why you were excited to share this cottage with us. (I am really surprised and disappointed at the pettiness of some of the comments. Who are these people? Not your usual viewers and subscribers I think. Please don’t take those words to heart.)
I love this house! Of all the tiny or small houses I have seen on RUclips this is my favorite. I would like to live in this house, this is my style. I love the round window and how the home is decorated. I enjoyed the tour.
Okay, did I miss the master bedroom, or is the upstairs twin set up the entire sleeping space? Now, on to the price. I don't know where this home is located, but finding something for $40k anywhere in my area is impossible. The concept is great, and I agree with Aloha that living in a tiny house isn't practical for me, but I'm thinking I'd have to live in a remote part of the country in order to find something at this price point. The concept is great, space utilization is amazing and it gives me something to think about. Thanks!
Tom Webber you mentioned aloha u must be living in Hawaii! 😝 I am on big island I bought my property for $7,000 we just spent $20,000 on our home. A little bigger then a tiny home. 515 sq feet.
This cottage reminds me of Snow White or a fairy house from a movie. It’s charming however I feel like I would feel depressed because of the colors. I would paint it white and stay away from antiques and those carpets. I do love it though because it’s way bigger than a tiny house and it won’t feel cluttered I love the back of the house and how it has a deck. 😍😍😍💕
How different people are, I love it for exactly the reasons you don't like it, the colours, the antique pieces and so on. I felt we don't get a chance to look at the full layout but I don't think this lady has much experience doing this and just shared a place she had found. Still a nice chance to peek inside.
Lovely young wife and mother. I enjoy her opinions and likes and dislikes. Music is nice and gentle. This is a sweet and informative series. Thanks and best wishes to this fun family!!!!!
i agree with the sentiment ....however here those houses would ,with the land be crazy expensive round 600k likely. its to bad in the last 35 yrs that the banks, realtors and such have pushed the mcmansion idea.when i was a kid a 900sq foot home was pretty darn big,and now the zoneing and gov regulations say you cant own a home, unless you pay ppl hundreds of thousands
I love small houses, house that are practical, but this new tiny house movement is more of a an HGTV push than what is practical. A lot of those houses are cute but not practical. They boast they are great for picking up and moving, but the customers don't see until after they purchase the home, they are not easy to move. People don't realize that zoning laws prohibit them from even using a tiny home as a main dwelling place. I don't want to bad mouth the tiny houses that are being built, I just think they are selling a fantasy and not a reality. I love this house you are showcasing. As a born and bred New Yorker, I will live in almost anything and in any size! I have friends that live in less than 800 square feet with five kids and that has been normal for them for years.
Dawn Lizarraga - Actually, the movement took off years before HGTV acknowledged it. Producers probably don't care about the movement from a social p.o.v. , but strictly from a broadcasting and $$ perspective. In other words, whether viewers watch. The bulk of its programming is still traditional housing.
Some zoning will always be necessary for safety, but once politicians sense the demand might help their vote, laws will change. For now developers no doubt have the lobby influence. Millenials might change it.
Ur right about zo ing laws and they need to change alot of homeless low income people and people who lost their homes in the houseing crash as well as many handicapable and elderly on disablility or ss.could benniffit from those changes instead we got our country fightimg over race religeon and politics as long as the lower calss and middle class are doing thos the real issue in our country will never cjange healthy happy housed people who will be more likely to be able to walk down the street without worrying about getting jumped at night ause all has a decent happy affordable home to go to and help build a real life for themselves Not to say this would change every criminal element but it would cer5put a dent in it
People expecting way to much for a small cottage. No there is no master and only one bathroom. I think it’s perfect. Absolutely adorable. But then again I don’t require much or even want much actually lol
This cottage house is amazing for a small size family. This is 10x better than a tiny house. The space is just perfect. I see my single self living there happily and peacefully.
The roof is absolutely cute in a fairy tale... in reality, these kinds of roofs take a lot of space. So, even if it is rather nice when you see the house in a beautiful garden, surrounded by nature, trees, i need more space to breathe inside. We need at least another room. There's a possibility for this, near the other bathroom and the balcony. Also windows in the roof, openings for more light and air. No claustrophobia this way 🌞🌹😊
Was there only 1 bedroom? I really would have liked to actually see the house, like when you walked in, the camera should pan around showing the entire house. We can't get an accurate picture of the house if it only shows you talking, you can still talk while he pans the camera. And since you shared your opinions so freely "as a mother" I'll share mine, btw I have 2 adult children & 1 that is almost 9 so I have a lot of years on you. Saying you don't want your kids out of your site or in another room than you? That's really ridiculous & it's actually not helping your kids at all. Even a baby can be like in the living room with you in the kitchen as long as everything is baby proofed. Yes you must ensure safety but this issue is more about you than your kids. It's ok for kids to play in their room, or outside (age appropriate of course), they need to learn to be self reliant & do things on their own without a parent "helicoptering" around them. If they don't learn to be alone with themselves & self reliant as kids then they will not do well out in the world as adults. Give them some space, check on them regularly but let them spread their wings. The way you said it was like anyone that lets their kids out of their site in another room was a bad parent, I'm sorry but that not the case nor is never letting them out of your sight very realistic. I do really enjoy seeing all the places you go & the houses you show, I'd just like little less judgment on parenting & how people have chosen to set up their homes & just more describing the homes as they are. Thank you.
Sheila Harvey - Loved your comment....I was starting to think oh gosh my kids have their own rooms and a playroom with double doors on it...does that make me a bad Mom? Nooo that makes me a "sane" Mom. hehehe (my kids are 11 and 7 yrs) My suggestion to the host on the video is to stick to the topic of the house and not your personal living choices or parenting.
She clearly doesn't watch the children all of the time as they were up on that rickety balcony alone! I'm not a helicopter parent, but no child in my care would be up there alone. Juts a huge no-no for me.
I would rather buy this home than a tiny house. ☺
Yes I agree. A cottage built into a hill with a grass roof. Plus a wood burning stove
Thus ist Just a Showroom!!
If I were younger I would want that house over any other I have seen.
Why would you need to be younger?
Probably stairs. When you get older (like me), you don't like having to climb stairs, especially to use the bathroom.
Judith Get a 1 or 2 bedroom in a one story. It sounds as if you can negotiate the design.
and then when they get old and sit on wheelchair 24/7 . . they will say " I need more spaces . no furniture . no more cabinets . I need my own room at ground floor because I do not need the stairs anymore ." .. believe me .. this is will be in their future
So? Your day will come, too.
Why is the camera always on her?? I would like to actually see the house
We actually had more pictures of her butt than of the rooms
flamingpie herman 😂😂😂😂😂😂👍
I was thinking the same. Plus she has a lot of opinions that weren’t necessary.
Just thinking the same, can’t even see the house👎
Idk,she's pretty darn cute,I didn't mind :P
this house is much better than tiny home and less expensive
Agree
Yes
Didnt hear or see the price

I really want a small cottage out in the country somewhere with lots of land
me too. i love it
LOVE LOVE LOVE this house!!
Pat Cooksey ٧ ق
Yes...tiny houses have those ladders to climb to go to loft bedroom...which anyways is cramped..... loved this house with stairs... much less stress on knees when you get on years....also the house is cute with all those knick knacks....🏠🪑🧸🖼
I feel like the videographer forgot that the subject was the house - not the woman.
You're a complainer and dumb..
Ana Peric
You lack intellectual development.
Immature.
but I don't agree - the video is about both her and her home that she created, allowing her to make some major changes in her life. You stopped here to see the house.
Maybe the videographer was thinking of phooder??
Lol
This is one of the cutest and most functional homes that I've ever seen!
I really like this house . My house is less the 700sq. feet and on almost a half acre . I got it for $4.000 !
nrubino3 nice what state
Where is it--Beirut?
Small town in Missouri
640 square feet. 2.6 acres. $17,500. South Central Florida. I like Tiny Houses. But they are not legal around here except in an RV Park. And their two people over 55 and 2007 or newer date of manufacture make it hard.
C. Ward Tiny houses aren't legal in the majority of the US.
The cameraman obviously adores the host, but I'd rather have more footage of the details of the house than close-ups of somebody talking... looks like a very cute cottage, but I don't feel like I really got a sense of the layout from this... :)
Yeah, where's the master bedroom??
I thought the same. That house is so cool, and I really wanted to see the layout.
I got the feeling this was likely a single mom with 2 daughters and that they all shared the one bedroom.
SongsByLeslie haha, I was thinking the same too.
SongsByLeslie me too.Seems that all she dose is throw off on some else's home.
I seen a kids bed room where was the adult room or was the kids room the only bedroom
I was wondering the same thing.
My question as well.
I opened chat to ask if I missed the adult sleeping area. Glad to see I wasn't the only one that was asking! Lol. Dibs on the claw tub!,
EXACTLY!!!
Can you do another video showing more of the house instead of the hostess?
I agree
Madison Montgomery And I’m sitting here thinking show more of her lol.
You definitely nailed it. No one seems to show homes that a small, but more than 400ft. Plus the need to have bedrooms with out climbing ladders. please please do more of these.
So glad you enjoyed the video!
This is perfect for a single person and a dog or two...
or a cat or two.
How wonderful your home sounds!! Good luck to u.
I absolutely love this home!! It’s very quaint and cozy. Thanks for sharing!
Did I miss something??.. where is the "master bedroom"? I only saw one room, though I saw two potential spaces ( the classroom/man cave and the upstairs lounge area that is separated by curtains).
YES..That's what I was thinking also! Thought it was just me!
Same! Where do the parental units sleep??
Yeah...um, what's the deal here?
S A M E
What bout Mama and Papa bear?
Quoin Entertainment I was waiting for the master bedroom too. I believe the one with the balcony is the master. But they turn ed it into another lounge.
Thank you for the tour. It's a super cute and functional home. You shouldn't, however, be criticizing how other people choose to use the space.
then tell all these other commentors how they Criticize Super Much !!
Me From Maine Oh get over yourself, snowflake. Everybody can criticize anybody. Just like you're doing right now.
I love this little cottage. There are only 3 people in my family and I find this very soothing, rustic and charming! Very useful thought of space in this little cottage.
I LOVE this house! No Man Cave.... Sewing room!!!
Holy,,Prayer
Or craft room.
Mary Garcia Same thing.
Devin Lauwerier NO! That was not her house!
Lolololol
yup..agree wit u mara...i love to see more bout the house.
EXACTLY!!! I'M NOT INTERESTED IN BUYING HER!!!
Thank you! I appreciate your practical perspective, not falling for trends!
Thanks Pam Tan!! We really worked to try and put that message out, and I'm glad you'd noticed. Have a great week.
I love this type of small (not tiny) house tour! We need to downsize!
Really hard to picture and understand the actual layout an look of the house. The video is about the hostess? The camera is always on her!
Mistress Phoenix the cobblers kids are the worst shod
Yep thats what mom said pretty much dont buy a car from a mechanic, when they come home the last car they feel like working on is their own. He was that way about working on the house. It was beautiful when he finished though. He only did it because the hole just sitting there on the wall was ugly and he didnt want his friends seeing it lol.
LOL reminds me of the scene in Fried Green Tomatoes when she knocked her wall out because she needed some air. lol Good for her.
lol. why wait for a man to start. ? That's was an awesome share, ty😂

Now that builders find out about these cottages, she speaks of, they will take over that too and their price will go out of this world!
just check the net there are many builders who still make the starter tiny homes for decent prices.ijust watched yesterday a guy debunking the new saying that tiny hoes are to pricey now as well so just do a bit of reasearch
gl and i hope you find whatever you are looking for
Darrell barron Most of those starting prices are without upgrades. They charge extra for customising the tiny house to make it comfortable. Without those upgrades, a tiny house is not much better than an ice shack. The cost piles up when all the upgrades are factored in.
Frugal Whimsy well they hope that the money they save in expenses and utilities pays for the custom work done
chai momma don't get me wrong I love tiny homes I think they're absolutely adorable I just do like Cottages a lot too
have a blessed day
Loved this little cottage and thought many of the negative comments far too critical for the
'mechanics' done for our viewing and information. The only complaint I'd consider serious
is the layout of the kitchen, especially can't imagine canning with almost NO counter space
esp.next to the stove !!! Excellent idea on switching dining / living room space! ALSO the
upper level shows lots of 'master bedroom' space ... (silly complaint! as well as 'supervising
children'- i like keeping my little ones safe & happy!) This video was a colorful treat !! =)
Thank you for posting. Really loved seeing it!
camera man was terrible.. camera was on woman most of the times. would have loved to see more of the house quality and decor... poor focus...👎
mega complainers here! Do you guys only focus on Criticizing???
also dont need all that music....cant hear what your saying. had to mute.
Oh that awful music!
I love, love, love this house, very quaint and comfy... there is just something about cottages I must say, great video.
I think it’s charming. It’s a lovely home for an organised family. Better than a tiny home. You can breath. X
Love this house small but big enough to have family in. Show more like this Please
Too much talking about the house not much of showing the house for viewers like me to look at in detail and enjoy looking.
too clutters in small space
👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
The cameraman was so cofused by the place that he didnt know what to show
In other words, a little less conversation and a LOT more action!
@@jakartaman3365 these videos are drawn out for length and made to keep you hanging - part of the requirements to make $$$ off them from RUclips and sponsers...Fact.
I moved into a cottage 18 months ago. It's incredible. Spacious, cozy, part vintage, part modern. So blessed.
You know where I can find one?? 😃
I wish this cameraman would actually show the house instead of just the woman standing there talking
your a complainer, nutso !!!!
Leah Rosenau
I concur. In the beginning, on the main level, the tour didn't have a flow from room to room to experience the floor plan. Disappointing.
5:45 tiny house, big butt lol
i
O my God, this is simply beautiful! It will be my dream come true to stay in such lovely tiny houses! Which place is this?
For my new home, this home is going to be the inspiration.
What an amazing little cottage! Beautiful, magical and practical!
I also down sized. Moved from 2200 sf to 550 on 1/2 acre in the woods.. love love love it!
I would love to find something like you have. I live in a small condo, but between the real estate taxes and association dues I HAVE to work (and I'm a senior citizen!)
Thank you so much for sharing.. I was thinking the same
Sounds like we have similar lives.
This is truly close to being my dream home.
Absolutely Adorable. ♥️
Just so you know Carpet is an insulator. I'm on my 3rd house with hardwoods and it's much colder in the winter on hardwoods than it is for the carpeted rooms.
It's called a "vacuum", they work really well when you use them
What exactly do you have going on in your house to have so much "bacteria"??
I take my shoes off when I walk in my house... but to each their own. My guests do too.
I'd love to see more pics of this house! It's so cute and cottage chic!
I love that you are doing tours like this. I didn’t know there were just small houses for sale that are cheaper than a tiny house. Much more doable!
In general it would be helpful (in other video's too) if there was something like a (simple) floor plan included. And, show more house - not so much the "moderator". :-)
Barbara Manor Or just like, show the complete room and how the house flows on camera so the video isn't just going from one random shot of a room to another random shot in another room
complain , complain !!
I'm very happy here in my little haven :)
I have always loved the tiny homes, but as for myself, I think a home with a 500 sf range work best.
Michael Reynolds Smartest way to go!
Please give me plane
I'd rather have an 18'x18' cabin than a tiny house on wheels. However, I can't find a place to live legally in one year round near family and friends.
We are buying one that is 2 beds for $40,000, and adding on a small master ( we have three children) it just needs a little elbow grease.
we live in one in Missouri and post videos about it
And a cute little house you have, too! I love watching your videos!
OFF GRID with DOUG and STACY
I want a little cottage just like that. I love all the little nooks. It transforms the layout into a map of special places, instead of simply a floorplan.
I would love another your of this, just showing the house, please 😂
I've returned to wood effect lino throughout my cottage with rugs here and there. So much easier to sweep and mop as I hurtle into old age.
manic hairdo Yes!
I agree. Its also a lot more healthier having lino or hardwood instead of carpet on the floors.
Good thought
This is just adorable!! So refreshing to see instead of all of the massive homes everyone seems to be obsessed with! You have done a great job, nice tour! Thank you!
Thank you! It was such a fun little house to stay in and give me ideas for our house later!
please show more of the house and not the host
Brent Reed YES, terrible tour
stop your whining !!
Ana Peric
Stop your whining about people having an opinion you don’t like!

@@hatsumia8946 Thanks, I appreciate you saying so.
That little cottage is absolutely ADORABLE!
That sounds great! Check out my playlist on Tiny Home tours, you'll find some cottages in there!

Thanks for the tour, and thanks for being a great Mom, we need more Moms like you.😄
I missed the sq.ft. of this one, what is it? What is total cost? Too much video of the woman, not enough of the house, sorry. Thanks though.
ehrlichlanier c I had the same questions. But I see you haven’t got an answer either
ehrlichlanier c - it’s over 400 squ ft. Tiny houses have to be under 400.
@@masada2828 Says who?? The "tiny house god?"
@@reesedaniel5835 : grow up!
I thought the exact same thing as you.... I remember thinking when she's talking about certain features the camera is stuck on her and seemed reluctant to turn the camera and to show what she was talkin about .
Really cute cottage... I need space to feel free... we built a 2000 sq ft barn house with 1200 sq ft living space for $38,000... debt free.. loving the homestead life :-)
Bottletree Farm - What area of the country do you live in?
What did you do with the other 800 sq ft?
So cute and really individual. I like the modern look of most tiny houses, but it's so nice to see this antique-y alternative. Lots of personality.
I really Love this one. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

CAT G.Blondecat Blondecat I LOVE your cat w/makeup! I see you from time to time and EVERY time it makes me smile. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼💜💜💜
yes...and you dont want them in the same room as you
There was another room downstairs that could be used as a bedroom.
You know where I can find another like it?? 😃
@@FancyNoises good ole NC !
I'd rather live in a cottage than a house. :)) Very nice. Thanks! :))
Why not show the house and not so much of their personal items and you?
Lol.
Very cozy and homy. You were right, it's beautiful.
Hopefully in future videos you guys have done better at actually showing the homes.
these videos are drawn out for length and made to keep you hanging - part of the requirements to make $$$ off them from RUclips and sponsers...Fact.

challenge: what about wheelchair accessible small/tiny homes
This house reminds me of the cute cottage homes in Carmel, Ca. Lots of charm and personality in a small package.
I agree tinny homes are interesting, but with larger family's of 4+ they no longer seem functional.
Raymond Etheridge My family of seven wouldn't fit into a tiny home.
For a family of 8 our 4 bedroom home is a small house. Tiny house=200-400 square ft. 300x8=2,400 square ft. Bam! My family per person lives in a smaller amount of space than most of the people in the tiny house movement.
They are typically for couples or single people. Or maybe a family of 3.
Parents get the tiny house, kids sleep outside in tents? Or vice versa!
I agree with you. I love this house. Most of the Tiny Homes are so small and expensive.
I've been wanting a small cottage forever just been having problems finding one. That house is so cute. I would buy something like that in a heartbeat.
Chicka' MUNG- gah
Yes that is cute!
We settled on a finished single wide mobile home..
We've added a 12x40 front porch and have someone building a 12x24 deen on the back..
We are on3 acres.. I donot have recent photos ... But it is nice.,
And we ordered this mobile home with 2x8 construction / 6 inch thick walls- higher side walls - upgrade roofing ..( 49k)
I'm pleased -- and I have no debt..
Joyce T. - Agreed! I'd move in & not change a thing!
You're right. Rural areas are where you'll get more bang for your buck as far as houses go.
OMG. THIS HOUSE IS SOOOO CUTE. I WOULD LOVED TO HAVE THIS HIUSE TO RAISE MY BOYS. SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL.
Cute cottage. Has elements I would like to use in my own small house.
Show the house..not her!
Again, I agree totally with this comment!
Love it, it makes so much more sense than a lot of the tiny houses .Especially with children.
dream home. ....one day maybe I will have a small house like this...hhhh
where's the master bedroom
my question too...did I miss something ???
Chanae Paris W.P I just rewound the vid thinking I missed it lol. I would gut and rework the 2nd floor for sure.
No that was the powder room and 2nd bathroom
WHO want's to "lounge" in a room that smells like poop?
Bradley Greenwood hmmm....
perhaps they spray a lot.
Far better than tiny homes. Only point in a tiny home’s favor is you can relocate it without much trouble.
Dawn Lizarraga amen.
That was her point......
Ur right about zo ing laws and they need to change alot of homeless low income people and people who lost their homes in the houseing crash as well as many handicapable and elderly on disablility or ss.could benniffit from those changes instead we got our country fightimg over race religeon and politics as long as the lower calss and middle class are doing thos the real issue in our country will never cjange healthy happy housed people who will be more likely to be able to walk down the street without worrying about getting jumped at night ause all has a decent happy affordable home to go to and help build a real life for themselves
Not to say this would change every criminal element but it would cer5put a dent in it
People expecting way to much for a small cottage.
No claustrophobia this way 🌞🌹😊
That outdoors upstairs “patio” has a name, it’s called a Balcony.
Yes, that is what it is called
Lovely cozy house💖💖
Well said, Sheila!
She clearly doesn't watch the children all of the time as they were up on that rickety balcony alone! I'm not a helicopter parent, but no child in my care would be up there alone. Juts a huge no-no for me.
excuse me? less judgement? Aren't you judging her? If oyu don't like it just move on.
I agree
