I personally believe the statement “attractive people are seen as more intelligent” only applies to men. As a (stated frequently to me by others) attractive, innocent/young for my age looking woman, I am more often than not treated like I’m dumb. Like I won’t notice a salesperson lying to my face trying to convince me to buy something. Like I won’t notice little looks shared between other women making fun of me. I think people mostly view beautiful women as objects, and struggle to see that they’re real people with thoughts and feelings. This jealousy and judgement comes mostly from women, and also from men that are NOT secure in their masculine identity who want to put beautiful women down. There’s downsides to being attractive because envy and hatred will always exist

Pretty people get treated good from the rip, they develop confidence and positive attitude from this then go on to succeed because they are not only pretty but their mental health and attitude is healthier - the gift that keeps on giving. Now I can understand why I had depression since I was a child and why even a babysitter beat me brutally but didn’t beat the other kid in her care. She beat me so badly the courts actually got involved in 1974 and was not normal at that time, cuz back then kids had no rights and abuse was a personal problem. • @user-ee5om8wy7u
    @user-ee5om8wy7u 2 месяца назад +227

That privilege works for the opposite sex and not just for attractive people. For example, if I'm an attractive woman trying to get a pass from an interview by another woman, there's a higher chance for me to not pass the interview. The only way my attractiveness would benefit me is if my interview taker would be a man.
Similarly, more attractive men would get less benefits from other male counterparts because they would be viewed as competition.
So, above average attractiveness may bring benefits only from social circles of mostly the opposite sex. Within the same sex, however, it could be the opposite effect due to subconscious jealousy and envy!
Ultimately, extremely attractive people are not always treated equally: sometimes they are treated better and sometimes much MUCH worse than everyone else.

Facts! I remember having an interview a couple of years ago which was 2 rounds. In the first round a male manager interviewed me and said he would "hire me tomorrow" but he needs approval from his colleague. During the next round, the female colleague interviewed me and shortly after I got rejected due to "not having enough experience" in the software they were hiring for. Fast forward 2 years later, I'm now a consultant specialising in that software that the female colleague said I was lacking experience in. Long story short is that its true that women see other women as competition where your competence and looks can work to your disadvantage.

The data from the studies contradicts your point though. Even in same sex scenarios, beautifull people tend to be trusted more and viewed with more respect and admiration. Maybe some narcissistic or very insecure people would view prettier people as a menace, but in general, this is not the case for most people.

You certainly do get the benefits of white privilege, however white privilege by itself doesn’t make a woman more attractive or desirable than she actually is. (Speaking as a male)
I (and many other men, including white men) would pick a more attractive darker skinned woman of different/mixed ethnicity over an average looking white woman, a females white privilege doesn’t really offer any benefit towards men itself (esp other white guys) because women get social and physical protection + respect when paired with men, not the other way around.
That inherent social privilege is only of use if the woman comes from a very wealthy family or something like that.
Essentially, a woman being white offers no inherent importance to most men.
What’s important is is she actually physically attractive? Her face, body, hair, etc.
Just letting you know how most (80%) men think btw. Of course there’s always a small group in each group of men that have very specific preferences.

Taller people are not the healthiest, generally the taller a person is, the more likely they are to have cardiovascular problems in old age, this is because the heart must make greater effort to pump, this is not a problem when you are young, at advanced ages the probability of a heart attack increases greatly, in contrast shorter people tend to be healthier in their hearts in old age. According to attraction studies, tall men tend to be more attractive to women, and command more respect from other men, however this does not happen with women, shorter women tend to be more attractive compared to women. tall, however taller women command more respect than short women

If we talk about intelligence, there is no clear correlation between beauty and intelligence, but there is a correlation between face shape, intelligence and certain social behaviors, people with elongated faces tend to have higher levels in cognitive tests, and have a more introverted personality, people with a wider face tend to be more extroverted and have a more dominant attitude, or a more ideal attitude for a leader, people with long and wide noses tend to have more empathy (but it does not mean that are nicer), people with shorter and less wide noses tend to be less empathetic, people with a larger chin tend to have more resistance to stress, people with high cheekbones have more self-esteem but also have a greater tendency toward selfishness .

I did full time internship 3 mos zero pay had to pay child care and work Saturdays the dentist told me he was gonna hire me cuz I did do well on my last 2 weeks of internship a big boob blonde with perfect teeth had to internship at that office too , he made such a obviously big deal about how hot she was she was there 15 min he took my job away from me and gave it to her she didn’t even work yet! I was left in debt over this whole dental assistant school, had to jump on first employer who offered a hire cuz I was about to get evicted with a child. That employer was a nursing home cleaning. 2 mos later that same dr called me and demanded I come in next day cuz pretty princess didn’t work out- I told him no, I already lost my daycare slot and back on waiting list and I wasn’t gonna burn the one employer who hired me even tho I’m ugly. He called me 3 times raging even showed up at the nursing home and even got into the hallways to call me stupid for doing this job instead of working for him. At that point I was terrified he wasn’t nice to begin with and now his behavior is like 48 hours territory . He never got in trouble and everyone minimized the problem because he was a wealthy dentist-I hope his wife is still alive

So as someone who's paid the ugliness tax and also experienced pretty privelege, it's 💯 true for both sides. I grew up the ugly duckling and didn't grow into my looks until my late teens. The world treats you differently based on appearance and that's just the sad truth. But as someone who's been terribly bullied for being fat and ugly, but also been showered with attention for being skinny and beautiful, I don't get swayed by the compliments or the privilege. It sounds strange but I actually turn it down and say things like, "there are far more important things in life than how you look". Which puzzles people... But I guess I feel like I'm doing my tiniest bit to change the status quo on the POV. 😅🙌

This isnt a bias towards attractive people, this is from the "general factor of genetic health" that coincides with being more attractive. People who are genetically healthier for example also have better immune systems meaning they can combat viruses and have less deficiencies growing up allowing them to grow symmetrically and to their maximum phenotypic height. Intelligent people (people who score higher on IQ tests and school results) are also more attractive because of the same "genetic health factor".

Beauty is more objective than subjective otherwise a 5ft5 bald fat guy with asymmetrical features would be getting as much success on dating apps as a 6ft2 athletic built handsome man with great facial bone structure.
