I feel deeply ambivalent. Focused on the cadets and the lessons they learn about being good representatives of the Federation and living up to their potential, this could be a show that expands the Star Trek franchise into more relatable, accessible territory. It could also be more fun than previous ST series. Focused on higher-ranking characters or petty emotional concerns, I'll consider the opportunity wasted. Also, if there's no Tilly, I'll be absolutely furious! They've seemed not to know what to do with her since season 2. The focus and sparkle have been lost; they've made her too sad, anxious and wandery, her appearances almost random. If teaching is truly what she's well-suited for, she should appear more energetic, more lit up - even if she's still learning how to guide her cadets. I want to see Young Professor Tilly with a fun mentor who helps her shepherd the baby officers into their potential, fulfilling her own purpose along the way!
As always it's going to depend on the writing. If they turn it into some angst-ridden teenage drama it will probably fail. They will have to really be creative to make the show interesting and engaging.
I’m excited, too! I will summon my inner teenager who will hopefully enjoy this new chapter of Trek. I’m pretty sure he will. 😊

Easy on the yes.
Captain AND Chancellor? Not sure how that works....
I think previous chancelors of the academy have been admirals, but I don't see why a captain couldn't hold the position...
