  • This is a look back on Buck Williams's career. Buck Williams was the working man’s working man. Playing hard every night whether it was diving for loose balls or chasing down rebounds. Coupled with playing defense extremely well thanks to his strength, athleticism, and attention to detail. Williams could also score with the best leading the league twice in field goal percentage. Thriving around the rim punishing other bigs and throwing down thunderous dunks. One time even bending the rim in the NBA finals. All of which helped Buck Williams carve out a long 17-year career in the NBA. Which started off hot for the Nets winning the rookie of the year and became and all star which was the first of three for him. Williams quickly became the go to guy in new jersey helping the team to multiple playoff birth and became an ALL-NBA player. Being one of the best power forwards in the game. Before heading to the Trailblazers where he would take on a smaller role with no complaints to win. And the blazers won a lot making two NBA finals with Williams at the power forward position. Becoming there leading rebounder and best defender making four all defensive teams. Then ending his career with the New York Knicks providing solid minutes as a backup for a couple more playoff appearances. Ending his career as a true ironman only missing significant time his final season.

0:00 I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American and male. So, Buck Williams is right up my alley. Since 1994, I really wanted the Sonics to get Buck Williams, as he would have been an awesome backup to Shawn Kemp. Buck Williams has gotten into TWO major fights in his career: Moses Malone, and Mark West. So, with the Mark West fight still on his mind, that's why he pumped his fist, when he got the three-point play against Mark West.

Buck Williams was underrated in today's NBA, but like you said he was the hard working man in his time. Hope you do the Thurl Bailey video.

I read somewhere some years back, that black dudes from the southern states are generally very tough, gritty and aggressive. I thought about i for a bit and holy crap, its right, especially in the 1970's, southern dudes were not ones you wanted to mess with, tough rebounders and very passionate
