hey there! i'm voidphobia/voidmonster, one of the players you contacted for this video. this turned out informative, respectful, and honest. i agree with so many of the points you brought up. it's unfortunate how broken and mishandled creatures of sonaria is in its current state. currency and events are two of COS's biggest issues currently, alongside the data issues/glitches and lack of communication from developers. i'm hoping the more attention that is brought to these problems, the higher chance they may have to be focused and fixed. but i also sadly don't predict much change, as the developers and owners have clearly proven how obtuse and unopen to change they are within the last year. they make fun of the community- see us as beggars and whiners. until their attitude changes from being entirely profit-focused to appreciating the concerns and ideas brought up by their community, COS will likely continue to fall apart. i can only hope the future proves me wrong, or that we can at least enjoy the time we have left with this game. wonderful observations. thank you for joining the fight for a better COS!
p.s. - i meant to reply to you on discord as well, but it looks like you're not in the COS discord server anymore and your DMs are turned off for non-friends. just wanted to thank you for allowing some information of mine to go towards the project!
Either way They just don't want anyone to give offens opnions about them Remember when those who complained about halloween boss got banned??? They're just hypersensitive about these kind of stuff!
Remember when you rolled a 35 mush random gacha, spawned in and could do whatever you want? No 10k mush overpriced creatures, no overly expensive customization (would be better if that was free bruh), no need to fear for your storeds of unobtainable "recognized devs' local starbucks' janitor" exclusive creature, that it will be killed by an instant adult trial token op thing that a lucky 9 yo got. Just everyone having equal opportunities and no worries. Good times. And remember the first event, the Christmas one? Where you actually had to do quests in order to unlock stuff, and then roll a cheap-ish gacha instead of buying them for more mush separately?
Wait, i guess the last part is not true. It's only more expensive in the event currency, not in mush. But cmon, we all know that shit is so boring to get. I'd rather lose 3 gachas with mush than grind the hearts rn 💀
@@SecretRatDestroyer i was really mad when they removed the random gacha, considering that you need to wait 14 mins for one spin (5 mush per 2 mins) and i didn't have that much free time to stack random pulls. it took me an excruciating amount of time to get Vaumora and ESPECIALLY Militrua from their gachas, and it just hurts. also, i feel like broken enconomies are an inevitability, no matter how many games Sonar might make. it's already happened to both dragon adventures and CoS, especially with how grindy both games are. so far, the most efficient way to get coins in DA is to do quests (mainly grinding) and to harvest materials and sell them (even more grinding.) Most of the events are fun (Valentines event is garbo, only good ways to get hearts is to feed your dragon endless amounts of chocolates, or do the time race. and only 2 ways to get the egg, buy it with event money or by minigames which is EXTREMELY rare and hard to do.) but, the event dragons eventually end up getting super overpriced and players will sell for/pay millions of coins for one dragon
I feel like the Valentine's update is the final nail in the coffin for COS. The new creatures are so expensive, and you barely get hearts. You'd have to collect 250 hearts just to unlock the LEAST expensive valentine's creature 🤕
They need to: 1. Stop adding new creatures for a while, except for events 2. Stop adding expensive new shops 3. Maybe make events a thing like the daily streak. Have two different log-on streaks, one that's normally there like always and one to earn the event creatures, including the Wardens!
Also, GACHA TOKEN = FREE SPIN OF [X] GACHA. bloody hell, sonar, i have 28 session gacha tokens, but cannot spend 14k shooms on creatures i already have.
As a player who started playing COS a few months before beta ended, i can confirm that all the thing in this video are correct, nowadays the devs only focus on new creatures and money, back in beta i remember how fun it was, there was no breaths, not many toxic people, no obsurdly overpriced creatures (cause keruku and all the limiteds didnt exist back then it was only normal gachas), and everything was so much fun, it felt like a survival GAME, not a collecting simulator... I miss beta.
Fr! Lately Sonar Studios has been turning all their games into over complicated, overpriced Adopt Me clones. Griffins Destiny was awesome in beta, until they added trading and f*cking pet eggs. And the economy in Dragon Adventures is so ludicrous, it’s just sad.
You're actually very right about this. The Creatures of Sonaria developers keep overpricing creatures, but not only that they're overpricing them, they are adding too much of them. Sure, the creatures are nice, good and all but I feel like it's a little bit too much. What I mean by that is that they're adding way too many creatures way too soon, and I believe they should slow some things up. And also about the new valentines update.. Well, let's just say, way too much like the past 2 events. And about the hearts, It's way too difficult to collect them. You get like 5 to 15 hearts every time you collect 1. Just like the Halloweens update and Christmas' update, there's nothing more to expect than some new overpriced creatures and the creatures from the previous event of valentines day. I'm actually pretty sad because of how unplayable this game is, and I hope the developers (And owners) make a change to this, otherwise the least thing you'd expect from this game are more players.
I honestly think it would be a better idea if they made a seperate game that's similar to COS, but just a roleplay game with all the creatures available to play from the start, it's a way they can keep making cool creatures without overwhelming COS and its players
I started playing in beta my exp: 1. Became more pay-to-win 2. Ery is just a chaos creator 3. Honestly a blast just playing now with all the kos 4. Events being bad now 5. If you cant grind you are pretty much doomed 6. (My opinion) the designs became worse 7. Old map. 8. The scrapped creatures being actually good I didnt have more but i miss features like: -Sharks being rare -Footprints -Some old models -Less pay-to-win -Better community Thank you for anyone reading this have a good day you deserve it ❤️
I personally loved when you could actually *see* other players look at you; it added life and made you able to watch where players were turning to bite in combat
The designs have become less alienish and more of something you'd see in dragon adventures, I miss the days when the only dragon inspired creature was the sochuri
@@ASF77 if you mean the old model they copied it off of MI Basically Vin’rou Volkim They look almost identical Cos banned Mi players Why: they played the game And Mi started banning too for the same reasons. Now the drama stopped and vin’rou has a remodel. Honestly its fine
I've played most of this studio's games since their very early days and I can confirm that the games used to have passion, effort and dedication put into their development. I don't know what happened or what caused it around the same time all of their current games started losing passion and put more focus into mindless grinding and paying for new in-game content. LSS +Easter and Season dragons were the final nails in the coffin of any hope I had for the studio to improve and better their games so I've just been watching it burn for months. The most recent game, griffins destiny, was such a soulless cash grab on its opening that you could pay for in game currency before the official launch came out and wiped everyone's data. As much as it would be a miracle for things to improve I just don't see it happening under ery's management
This true abut griffin denasty. I got some nice stuff and skin for my griffin One day i diden't come. And all my stuff was gone. ☹ and i don't play griffins.( my collections are not saved).
Same with me, I loved feline's destiny, so I started keeping Track of the games the group had(feline's destiny, griffin's destiny, dragon adventures, creatures of sonaria), I really miss old sonar studios, I quit the games and I only play if my friends are playing.
Well, the torture of cos will finally end this year. It's been confirmed that harp isles will come out soon, which will cause a ton of people to transfer from cos. In other words, harp isles will draw the blade that puts creatures of sonaria (and hopefully sonar studios in general) out of their misery so they may finally rest in peace.
As the old falls, the new rises. As CoS' downfall continues, this will be the prime time to create a creature game. The quitting players of CoS will want another creature game to play, which will provide new opportunities to arise. I feel like when Woodlore Oneiros Origin or Harp Isles releases, CoS will finally die, if the current situation is not fixed.
My friend, you have spoken the truth. and as much as it pains me so, as a fan that has loved this game for the longest time, it is nothing more than the truth, if the developers do not fix this, then the blood of the beautiful world they created, will be on their hands.
as a person who has played since the 1st christmas event, personally i don't think cos should necessarily die, in fact cos could literally make a different gamemode that revolves entirely around survival where there: would be temperature differences depending on where u are and what season it is. some of the more important tokens that are used for the less expensive gacha's but none of the others. more accessibility to most of the creatures except for healers. and missions that are more completable multiple times that lean towards how the creature is supposed behave, the more times completed the more mush with little to no cooldown per mission completed. also firing their best coder that was single handedly rewritting an entire game code only to be banned for a joke abt snorlax forgetting amnesia then somehow derailing into god knows what was a stupid decision on the cos's team part. we literally could've had a rewitten code that would solve most of the games current issues + some by now and I can't wait for those games so that way i can just play cos wayyyyy less often and mainly focus on those 2 games, i just hope they don't go down the same path as cos has
I personally doubt CoS can be saved at this point. It just keeps getting worse.. I've completely and fully quit the game and dont plan on ever returning unless things are finally fixed, I miss beta. you perfectly explained a majority of the issues. Good job!
i used to play it every day, i spelt like probably over 5k robux on it. i already hated how they would release new creatures every week but getting wrongly banned from the discord was just the nail in the coffin. i regret wasting so much money on it
Looks like Devs are not even paying attention to this. Tbh, this Halloween Event was a dissaster. Prices were INSANELY OVERPRICED, like x2 up from it was used to be before I just manajed to get the Viracniar...
I am a pretty old player from sonaria, I started playing their games around the first valentines event in Dragon Adventures (I think it was 2020), and I loved that game for a very long time similar to CoS, but then something happened. Devs began mostly looking into CoS, and leaving DA dead, seriously DA that year didn't have winter event or valentine event. After DA was reborn it wasn't the same... it began a cash grab slowly and more and more grinding game, it has been like 2 years since prehistoric world was added? No new worlds came out ever since, something that made the game spin in past. And now only thing that keep DA alive is sessions and events which most of time are grinding, just grinding or buying stuff with robux. I feel that as Griffin's destiny came out, something similar might be happening to CoS, no more passion to make game good, only need to make more money to make more games. Similar to DA, in CoS we don't see that often new mechanics or new looks to the map being added. All the time events with same boring structure in CoS or same structure for each and every sessions in DA. I know I might be wrong in some stuff and that occasionally we will get something good but still, it is not enough to keep community happy for too long, especially that many stuff we want/need in game are being ignored. I still laugh at the memory of Barbie dolls ad in under city of Dragon Adventures xD
See the thing is. Creatures of sonaria is a game that is comparable to a match. Rather than some games that you play for long times that burn slowly like a log, you have a game where constant fresh new updates and fuel is needed in order for the game to not die fast. It is a game that builds itself based off of our short span of interest. Creatures of sonaria was doomed the moment they added a gacha feature. It’s the audience they built and it’s that audience that they must pertain too. They choose that
Smh I hate erythia, when she joins the lobby and attempts to reply to the things Im saying, I usually ignore her and flip her off behind my screen. She's a shitty, narcissistic human being who simply bans people she doesn't like.
Honestly, the COS dscord devs should replace the COS game devs because they are just nice people. They helped my friend with someone who was harassing them, that take criticism w/o banning people, and they're just kind people to chat with.
I'm one year late to the party , and I've only being playing for a two months at this point. Its a horrible experience as a new player and so confusing.
I have been playing this game since the game nearly first released I quit sometime in the summer last year due to how stupid the game got. I encouraged my friends to do the same, the devs weren’t all that good, the creatures got expensive, currency is hard to get, the game sucks now, I’ll always cherish the early stages of the game.
One more reason to migrate into Dinosaur Arcade, because events are SUPER INTERESTING and easy to get stuff, also much of fun. Cool map and regular GAMEPLAY updates! Also interesting mechanics. I love Dinosaur Arcade, and as megafan i recommend to play this!!!
yea DA is an actual game and not a valuable collector CoS has become, but it still has some optimizing issues making it less enjoyable, like if you are in an EU region you wont get ping below 300, and this game is _not_ good at making lag less fatal-- fighting is basically not an option.. But still, an incredibly amazing game and I agree to try it out :D
Ohhh yeah! I haven't played that one in a while, but I love the exploration/gradual collection mechanics. It doesn't feel like I'm grinding in that game.
The only fun I have in COS anymore is in a discord realism server where I actually get to appreciate the creatures, not for the uniqueness that the game gives them, but rather what our community gives them. You’ll rarely find something like a khiku in public servers, since all that matters is showing off the rarest/strongest/most expensive creature at Oasis there. But in realism, the khiku is given personality as a skiddish flock creature that runs away from anything that doesnt look like it, even its newborn children. This makes it fun to play, but the creatures added in the main game dont have nearly as much uniqueness. Oh cool, they have a breath and can fly. Theres no personality, the descriptions of the creatures in the menu are outdated and often have multiple grammar errors. Meaning older creatures, unless given a redesign or buff, are forgotten about. It makes me sad to know that these great creature designs, created by very talented artists and writers, are merely hashed into the game only to be forgotten about. COS takes its designers for granted, the only thing that matters is putting out new creatures and finding more ways to make people spend real money on the game to fill the developer’s pockets. Its sad to see that much wasted potential.
@@jackdawheart- @leonatics the links im posting keep getting deleted, the server is called Creatures of Sonaria Simply Realism, if you look it up you should find the Disboard where you can find the link!
@@leonatics7760 server is called Creatures of Sonaria Simply Realism, the link i posted got deleted immediately so youll have to look it up on Disboard
And you know what enrages me? It's the fact that they directly said they would listen to the community, yet they haven't done anything remotely similar to that.
Erythia unfortunately has a track record of blatantly disregarding her playerbase. I played dragon adventures before it went downhill, so I got to witness a lot of drama that she caused and refused to fix. For example, one thing she did was go on a banning spree where she banned anyone who disagreed with her from the discord and the game. And when people stopped playing dragon adventures they released cos to pull in a fresh player base. They don’t care about the community, all they care about is money.
This is a great way to spread the word of the cos devs true objective, and I respect you for that. These corrupted, rigged, greedy, no good assholes may be able to control the discord (and the fandom) at their will, but they most certainly cannot control RUclips. Please continue!
The thing is that it's all Erythia's fault. She is money-thirsty, other mods and etc just need money so they listen to her. Alertcoderf is the real owner, Erythia is here just for the money. Should we all team up and kick Erythia out of the community?.
As a very old player (dawn of beta) i'd like to point out that Creatures of Sonaria has been on a costant downfall for awhile, even before the easter disaster. Honestly, beta was the only time period that the game was good. Sure there were some bugs here and there but the creatures were balanced, few and far between and the developers were more helpful. It's no secret why good devs like Eti and Nathan left and i don't blame them. With the official release of game , the devs sought out new ways to make the game more fun, those ways being events and event specific creatures. They started updating and terraforming the map, bringing excitement and hype to the game. And that's were it all went to hell. Running out of ideas but still wanting to produce something new, the useless addition of creatures started, causing other majour events to be scrapped (for example the addition of a new map). Because of it the economy started spiralling out of control. New Creature? Inflation time! With creatures after a couple weeks costing only 50% of their original prize (if even that). New events continued to happen (21 pilots etc.), sure, but it wasn't enough. And then the easter disaster happened. After it the LSS event that sought to correct their mistake and since then the devs just seemingly gave up and went along with it, causing the game to become broken, unplayable and very non-beginner friendly. Also a little sidenote: I was BANNED from the discord server for "an appropriate joke ingame" on a day i didn't even log on the game. Moreover, when trying to contact the mods and admins about it, i was promptly ignored, redirected or outright blocked. It's a shame because it's a dear game for me but i don't think i will be returning to it. It simply not enjoyable anymore. It's just a washed up grindy gampling roleplay game.
(Sorry for the lengthy post, I just have a lot of...disappointment...regarding this game.) I just wish to share my experiences with: the fandom, game, and many more. Feel free to disagree, or share your own accounts. However, keep in mind that these are only my opinions. They may be subject to change based on future updates or information. For some background, I first starting playing a few months before the end of beta. I ended up finding it on my recommended and instantly became obsessed. It was everything I could have wanted in a Roblox game. I was a young furry at the time combined with an obsession with survival games or anything of the likes, so it was safe to say that this was a dream come true. Now for my personal experiences, I'll start with the events. Right after beta, I would say, was the highest the game ever got to in terms of quality. The first Christmas event was by far the best event I've experienced while playing, it was: Creative, fun, extremely rewarding, and most importantly; actually *had* reasonable pricing. (This will come up a lot more later.) It was a perfect set off to beta. However, the events started getting more....boring...as time went on. I could dismiss the first Valentine's as a one off. I mean, not all events are supposed to be perfect...Right? When Easter rolled around, it was better in terms of quality from the last so I will give it that. However, I just can't help but feel as if it was a little too easy and monotonous. I also started to notice the prices began to only raise as the events went on. I shook it off at first, but later on that would become glaringly obvious. By the time when the time warden came out, everybody noticed the elephant in the room. Some were pissed (Me included. Come on, 250 hours for a mediocre warden?) others simply didn't care. Now, for the fanbase. The fanbase was very chill in the beginning, wouldn't fuss about stupid shit in the chat, or start idiotic server wars. It had it's bad apples but nothing too notable. The oasis wasn't nearly as packed in the beginning. People actually searched for food and did what the game was intended for; SURVIVING. As the game continued onward, the oasis kept getting more and more popular. Sure, it was popular in the beginning, but people actually left to hunt or whatever the hell else. Now with everybody at the oasis, server drama galore. It first started when people started complaining about KoSers and Anti-KoSers in the server chat. (For those who don't know, KoS means "Kill on sight".) Due to everybody being in the same spot; it became a big topic in server chat. Another thing to be kept in mind, was that CoS had a young fanbase of primarily 11-14 yr old kids. Which often tended to be immature and blow conflicts out of proportion. All of these things combined were a recipe for disaster. I will admit, I was no saint. 12-13 yr old me also engaged in these asinine server conflicts. As much as I look back and cringe, I will admit I could have been worse. Even 13 yr old Anti-KoSer me knew that carnivores needed to kill sometimes, albeit going too far over people "Killing for no reason". There were people who thought *any* sort of killing was bad even when starving or in self defense. As cringy as I was when it came down to server policing, those people were far worse. The server drama got to a point were you couldn't play without seeing it pop up atleast once. If you thought server drama was bad, the trade realm was a whole new beast. Overpricing, newbies spam-trading, scammers, and generally stupid children made the trade realm near insufferable. Being a creature collector, I tried to get the new creatures the second they came out just to avoid that hellhole. Even with all of these things pilling up, I still continued onward until the next point. The gameplay. The gameplay had a degree of skill to it in the beginning. Meat spawns existed, yes, but they were rather rare. Instead of meat spawns you primarily had to kill bots which attacked/ran away from you. They weren't perfect, or that hard, however it atleast added a tad bit of survival to the game. Later on, they started adding more food spawns (Especially in the oasis) which made being a carnivore just siting and waiting for food to spawn. Since most of the food tended to spawn in the oasis, people gravitated over to it (Causing the server drama explained in the fanbase section). As the game continued onward, they started adding natural disasters. Some were great like the volcano, and some were just annoying like the tornado. The tornado was supposed to not reach players who were underground or inside buildings, but it did anyways and it sucked. Creatures started getting added more frequently as well, most of which started to become unbalanced, glitchy messes. when Ghib was first released, everybody complained about how OP it was for a small teir 3/4 creature. Which was 100% reasonable even though I laughed it off at the time. The PvP soon became absolutely moronic, with small teir 2/3s being able to solo teir 5 carnivores. Which, even I, thought was stupid. As the game went on it became crystal clear that the developers never intended to fix the creature balancing issues. If anything, they indirectly fulled the fire by constantly adding new, unbalanced creatures rather than overhauling the stats of the old ones. As they kept adding more creatures the game continued to get laggier, and laggier, to the point were I couldn't play above 3 graphics without my computer shitting itself. The lag, the bugs, only continued to get worse until the fallout that lead me to leaving. The plant update, oh how horrible it was in execution. I was so hyped for it, because plants were already so easy to find and practically made being a herbivore near baby easy. The thought of the plants rotating, dying, and ect sounded beyond perfect. However, they took a perfect idea and shat all over it. Plants didn't spawn AT ALL. They didn't rotate based off of season or anything like that, they just SIMPLY DIDN'T SPAWN. At this point, the game was a: drama-ridden, overpriced, buggy, and above all; unfun. I just left, because it was the only logical thing to do at this rate. This game became a chore rather than a hobby I actually cared for anymore. After some time had past, I returned to see if the game was *any* better, I was mistaken. I returned to: moronic rotation/general prices, even worse bugs, and more half-baked creatures. Now, I only play during the events. Events of which are nothing like they used to be. TLDR; The game started out great but every facet of the game including: The events, fanbase, and gameplay turned to shit and now I only play during events, events of which are far from their prime.
I agree completely. As a newer player (started last year during the summer) I had an extremely hard time understanding how the game worked and how the mush system functioned. For starters the lag and disconnects have been awful, they never used to be this bad when I first started and now they happen almost everytime I play. The mush economy is terrible as well. They push the idea of grinding for mush for hours in-game when in reality half (if not more) of my current creatures were exchanged from the halloween event palettes and materials, not from grinding. Sure I grinded a couple thousand here and there but none of it could compare to the halloween palettes I used/sold. In fact, I don't even think I would have as many creatures as I do rn without selling those palletes which just goes to show that people who joined after that event have little to no chance of buying actually good creatures without good stuff to sell. Overall, the connection issues make me distance myself more from the game every day and the economy is just ridiculous. Sure you can grind but who the hell is going to actually sit in a server for hours just to get 3k mush and still deal with the 75% chance of disconnects and crashes? (And before people try to say that it's just my computer having issues: how is it possible that a 2017 i-7 laptop, mind you not even a full on pc but just a laptop, can run games like RDR2, TF2, WHF, Little Nightmares, in pretty good quality yet crash or disconnect in a single roblox game. Not to mention the fact that COS is the only game it crashes in, I have had no other problems with other Roblox games I play). Moral of the story: Stop adding crap to a buggy and underdeveloped game. New, fancy, expensive creatures aren't going to fix the problems this game has. Don't turn into those game companys that sell a broken game, ignore their community, and only add cosmetic updates just to get a little more money without actually pushing out a full on update. Yeesh TF2 may do that but it sure as hell is in better shape than this disaster which only proves that it is doable but yall won't even try to make things right.
I am also aware that they are remaking the map altogether. Yes this is a good step in the right direction in terms of possible optimization/bugs/lag fixes but if this new map ends up being just as badly optimized as the one we have now then we are back to square one. A new map isn't going to fix the economy either sadly. Oh and that's another thing. If Sonar Studios wants to be that company that just pushes out expensive creatures then fine, so be it. But if you're going to be doing that then at least make them playable. Half the time the new creatures they push out each week are broken or unfinished with fixes coming weeks to months later. Just for example: Boren came out last November and its grab still hasn't been fixed. If you try to grab a creature with Boren you just get stuck in place and either have to menu or hopefully have a nicer bigger creature come pick you up. Almost 3 months and still no fix for that and who knows what else may be wrong with any of the other newer creatures they added. So yes, fine, I get it, this team just wants to push out new creatures. But if that's all you guys are gonna do in terms of updates then you better make them functional or else what's the point? I'm sorry if this is rude or ourspoken in any way but I'd rather speak out about a game I have come to love than stay silent and watch it burn itself into the ground
I agree--it's NOT a device problem. One of my discord friends is able to run the game on max graphics and they still crash. Sonaria has extremely bad optimization and so far its the only roblox game I know to crash _this_ much. How am I supposed to play long enough to get the new fancy overdone creature in the first place? its just sad lol, i've been here for almost 3 years and i'm thinking of quitting, i no longer want to support such lazy, negligent devs
I feel like this is gonna be a looong one.. Im playing since very early beta, so if you want to hear my experience in an unnecesarily long text, feel free to stick around :) So, Ive always loved the animal survival genre, especially with aliens. In case you didn't know, that specific niche is extremely lacking though.. Understandably, when CoS came out, I was _amazed_ - a survival game with outstanding models and animation containing fully working features from basic food, thirst, growth, to more in detail stuff like scenting, nesting, storage, grabbing etc... The community was great too, with only around 500 players everyone was playing the game to enjoy the fun and challenge of growing up and surviving as a fantasy creature. The potential was immense, would this game grow to become one of the best survival games out there? It could have. But never did.. I watched, as the first tier 4 carnivores were added in beta breaking the balancing and ecosystem. I watched, as the map was deleted for a much worse one. I watched, as gameplay features like jumping or AI got removed instead of optimising the game. I watched, as events went from a fun challenge to an unrewarding time consumption. I watched, as more and more broken abillities ruined the experience bit by bit. I watched, as balancing got worse and worse and prices became higher and higher. I watched, as gameplay was turning more and more into a grindy race about who gets the most in-game values. I watched, as the last thing CoS had, its community, was dimished more and more as players here to play a game got filtered out for money-paying people only out for collecting digital valuables. _I watched the best survival game and possible legend, turn into a soulless mess with the sole purpose of creating profit for the creator - letting it all happen carelessly._
Same here! COS was one of my main forms of entertainment with my friends where we would pair up and fight to survive against the forces that were presented against us. We we're a fairly great team, and if it wasnt my friend I was solo or paired with those of the same species! I have alot of stories from when COS actually felt like it had a 'survival' aspect to it, where the adrenaline rush and excitement hit you more than the shock and frustration of losing your creature to non-sensensical players. I would soar through the cliffs as a Nyto, rush through the caves waters systems as a Hemokai chasing prey as the one I paired with waited above on the lookout, grapple with death as I scavenge and eat under beast noses. COS was one of the best games ive stumbled upon, shame that its changed so drastically and for a bitter turn.
I was waiting and playing for a while to see burrows get added. They sounded awesome! But they never were added. There was a lot that was being worked on that looked great but now it’s just not there.
I've played sonaria for a long time and sad to see what it has become. I play games to have fun not grind for hours upon hours to get something that isn't even good. These days every creature in game is over expensive and starters have practically no chance of getting anything besides the starter creatures and even then it takes way too much time. And events are only about grinding . Nothing fun to doo during events it's just grinding.
Honestly, cos is a game with true potential, if just that the devs put in effort, like come one why did they ban eti, his like one of the best devs on the team, sigh currently I am suffering in the economy as us mobile players have no freaking way to grind mush, i feel like at this point the game if more of grinding than for enjoyment, they just want us to waste time on the game so they can grab the cash and run, pls make cos great again
I think they banned him for z00philia allegations? I'm not too sure as there was little information about why eti was banned/fired from the team, for now take this with a lil grain of salt.
@@ezrrarlone1802 I heard that too, and if the accusations are true I fully accept it. But the main issue I have is the fact that THEY REFUSE TO TELL ON THE DISCORD. Discord is 13+ only, so people there deserve to know. Their silence on why makes me think that it might be something else, such as them using the accusations (true or not) as an excuse to get rid of them because something about him rubbed them the wrong way somehow.
sure wasn't a good look that the dev who was most loved by the community got taken off the team and they wouldn't say why, but they all chose not to publicize it and i respect that. we shouldn't spread rumors with no evidence, there's just no need to create any more drama when it seems all the individuals involved already settled it
As a mobile player, I can barely stay in the game for 10 minutes. (And sometimes less crowded servers doesn’t even help) The data usage in this game is crazy. Also due to this, I can barely farm anything. I hope it’s fixed soon, I really wanna enjoy this game again 😭
as a former creature collector, keyword, former. I was so close, only 8 creatures away to getting all of them, then... umm, this weekly creature release thing started, and I now have 30 more to go
It started falling apart the moment every creature and their brother got a breath weapon. When like 3 creatures had it, it was cool and special. Now it's irritating and everywhere
I've always preferred Malgamation's island.. No Gacha or anything, just hunt and survive as long as you can and save up currency for a creature you want.
Back when this game was in beta, it was a lot of fun. My friends and i played for hours and it was pretty nice. When the first actual in-game events started, playing for a few hours actually got decent progress. The occasional new creature was great and you could afford to get the new creature with enough time to not worry about a new one popping up. Today? New creatures basically every week costing thousands of mush. Events that require a full week of grinding for just 2 creatures (the new valentine event didn't run NEARLY long enough). An economy that has most non tier 1-3 creatures in the 10k mush range (unless they're meta, then they're expensive too). Servers that lag horribly when there's over 30 people. Horrible in-game community that is always looking for some way to start drama at any given time. Devs that don't listen to their playerbase and many other things. It is blatantly obvious these developers are just out for money. Especially with the direction even Dragon adventures is taking now with those new "bundles" lol. I hope they stop with this. Please, sonar studios. I DO NOT want to see this game fail but I can NOT support their current business practices. If it continues like this, then i hope Harp Isles gives them a reality check with actual competition.
As someone who’s been around since the very beginning of COS (I’m talking VERY beginning, like when it was still known as Creatures of Agartha), I’m really upset to see the game in its current state. I loved being able to collect creatures at the start, as it was relatively inexpensive at the time, and had a lot of fun with other players and made a lot of friendships. But I feel like Beta was the golden era for COS, as it just went downhill after the early days of the game. I pretty much quit after the easter update in 2022, because I felt like it was just becoming a huge cash grab, and the community just wasn’t the same as it used to be. While I’m still super fond of the memories I have made on the game, I feel like quitting was one of the best things I did for my mental health at the time, due to a bunch of unnecessary stress I got from playing. I could only hope to see this game eventually return back to the glory days, but the way the devs handle this game just makes it a boring, stressful, grindy mess which mainly caters to AFKers who do nothing but keep their computer on for days at a time.
It's such a sad sight really, im convinced that they balance the prices nowadays based on afk farmers and multiboxers (running multiple instances of the games with different accounts on the same pc to double mush income), i don't know if you were on the discord when it happened (or at all) but when they released the Time Gacha and it's Warden, they made it so that you needed to play 100 hours to unlock it, which is a long time to spend in a single game, yes? only to later change it to 250* hours because 4 days after launch "people already had 90 hours" according to devs. 100 hours in one game is already a big commitment to the average player who wants to have fun, but more-than-doubling that to balance the game around people who had their PC's permanently turned on since the gacha was released? c'mon, im convinced that that's also the reason why prices are so high, they don't "want people to have the new creatures so quickly" they make them harder to get so that the average player takes way longer and the top players take a *little bit longer* if at all, if you want to have the newest creatures, you HAVE to afk farm, and the devs fail to encourage otherwise.
I swear, I miss beta so much...These were basically every reason I stopped playing...I used to be a creature collector but because they add so much new creatures and the prices rocketed, I couldn't keep up. So I just...Stopped..
This is very well made. I'm on my absolute last stand for this game and I keep questioning how in the world I keep crawling back. This game needs a 180.
I did not stop playing COS for any of these reasons. I had over 60 hours of play time (about 2-3 months in my exp). But I quit last week after I got targeted by someone because I was recording a video, despite them not even knowing who I was. The load times were also insane, and I had to wait for up to 5 minutes just to start recording. The toxicity on COS is horrible in my opinion, and after this I switched entirely to Griffin's Destiny. I hope no other person has to deal with these problems and I hope COS can become great again.
been playing since the metaverse event, absolutely right about the lag. there are literally servers in LIMBO that are infinite menu loading, they've been here since late november and its insane they're still here.
I’m also a nuerodiverse, yet I found the unscrambler quite fun, but I do agree with a lot of other things, I love the game but sometimes things wanna make me quit
@@pillowdragon5576 Yes really, they cancel shows that could be potential QUALITY to make room for a series based off a crappy roblox game. I don't see why COS deserves it and, say, Wings of Fire doesn't.
On the topic of bugs, here’s some bugs that I’ve encountered (most very frequently): - The log-in streak will suddenly restart if the servers crash (which is frustrating because I’ve been trying to get Felisio) - Log-in streak gachas don’t give you any creatures 99% of the time. It just bugs out entirely. - Servers crash very frequently - Frequent server disconnections - Maiueve still has no neck until adulthood when other pieces cover up the empty spaces. - Weather events just don’t work properly. I don’t know how people got the new Cavengauu, as that requires the drought weather event. And there’s definitely more that I can’t remember off the top of my head.
I played during very early beta and continued playing up until a year or so ago during the easter event. It’s honestly sad how the game’s turned out, I had really high hopes for it but with all of these new and highly unobtainable creatures, it’s just not worth it. The playerbase used to be so wholesome and kind, but now it’s just… meh. I can’t help but think to myself of what this game would have become had the developers and other team members been more willing to communicate with their players. After all, we are the ones who promote and play their games.
I still remember the inflation during some of the events, a 10k mush creature could triple just because of an event Trading is very much awful, people only want new creatures which makes it hard to obtain any new creatures or mush via trade The “survival” aspect was thrown out of the window a long time ago when they added the meat spawners, and they have done nothing to prevent KOS, only encourage it! The developers and head devs (If they have any)need to step up their game. Big time
Great video! I’ve been playing COS since beta, and I really enjoyed it in the past. Now, I’ve stopped playing it because of the constant creature updates and I just can’t keep up. I often try to play again when events come out, like this valentines one, but I find the grinding hard to do and very boring. I really hope changes are brought to the game soon so it becomes a little more enjoyable :)
recode free testing is out, the data in the early access will wipe when testing is over and main game will merge (including data) but the recode is much more of a survival game imo
I came to CoS from Sonar’s other title Dragon Adventures, and the development of CoS hit DA hard due to everyone working on that game. There was a year long drought of content on DA due to this, and eventually I decided “well, why not give this new game a go?” So I did. Immediately I noticed some uh, let’s just say *reoccurring* patterns. Things started to get expensive, and things started to become ridiculously hard to obtain without spending any money. I personally have never spent anything CoS, but I remember the nail in the coffin for me was Halloween event of 2021 and Christmas event of 2021-2022. The creatures from the Christmas event especially were very expensive, and my hopes kinda died down to get the warden from that, or well any creature from it since it was so damn expensive and it would take an insane amount of time to get. Soo after that I stopped playing as frequently and my interest soon just dropped. The players in the servers also just became increasingly toxic over the years since closed beta and initial launch
I feel like constantly churning out new creatures exhausts the players since they need to grind and by the time they even managed to get that creature, boom, there's a new one. I stopped playing because I couldn't keep up with all the new creatures, and a chance to catch up would be nice.
I've been playing COS since August of 2021 (or earlier). I have to admit COS was better back then, but now it doesn't even feel like the "Creatures of Sonaria" that I knew. The game was pretty decent enough back then, it was quite the opposite of what you talked about in this video. Everything you talked about and explained in the video was well said, one thing I was like to add is the *player base* , it's not entirely our fault or the people who play it, it's mostly the head managers of the game for the impact they have on the players (the numerous amount of op creatures almost every friday/update). Back in beta - dec 2021, it really felt like a survival game, economy back then wasn't the big deal and the game itself was (in terms of it being a survival game). Now all you do is hangout at oasis for *SEVERAL* hours, get killed for trying to play the game the way it was meant to be played as, die to 'kosers' (which they obviously kill for the fun of it). I wrote this comment to share my opinion on the current situation, I don't want to force any hate on the devs. The last time I've played sonaria was in 2022 and I joined in August 2021, I've officially quit Sonaria. A lot of old players are and have too, sometimes even new players. The game isn't as enjoyable as it was back then. Not a very good way of ending off my comment, but this is all I wanted to say. Well done on this video, I hope you continue to create awesome videos like these.
I totally agree! The unfair prices, the amount of Shrooms we earn (pathetic without robux), the events and the boring grind, and DEFIENTLY, MOST OF ALL, the gameplay itself. I hope the developers see this video. We deserve to be heard! Plus, with all of us together we can fix the game we love.
As someone who has been playing since the start of beta, I have to admit that the simplicity is what made it that much better in the first place. I respect all the hard work the developers are putting into the game, but I'm honestly just sick of new creatures being pumped out rather than actual quality updates having their time taken on. I'm happy that the community has grown and all, but I just miss beta. The devs have tried to make the game too child friendly, (like removing scars and etc) and honestly I hate to admit it, but the community is becoming toxic. It was pretty much a goal to not end up like Dragon Adventures, but look where we are now.
As an early beta player I agree with all of this, I had a lot of time playing sonaria in 2020 but now I have to focus on school and I don't want to spend all of my free time playing this stupid game trying to farm mush to buy new creatures that come every week. New events are boring, in winter 2022 I just gave up, I was so tired of walking around the map, fighting others for gifts that will give me 20 value when cheapest creature are 2.5k, and there are also 9 other. I already lost game that I really loved when I was a little kid, I don't want to lose another game that I love now.
I used to play a lot like a year or two ago and had gotten a whole lot of creatures, but I stopped playing for maybe a couple months and when I came back quite a few of the creature species had been deleted from my inventory. All of my dev creatures I'd bought were gone, and so was my boreal warden, plus a few other creatures I only noticed later because I never really used them
I played COS during beta, it was still fun, and simple in the best way you can imagine. Back then kens, grams and exterris were considered one of the strongest species, it was simple, no one had to worry about getting new creatures. I remember when Qurugosk was first out, everyone was trying to get it but many people were actually kind enough to nest people. Most people hanged out at the waterfall shown in the video, I remember spending a lot of time trying to find it and sometimes I’d ask a flier to take me there which some of them did and I’d like to thank them for that. It wasn’t hard to find packs and families, I remember joining a Lure pack and being nested as an Ikoran, which were able to jump really high and we used it to climb mountains. The community was pretty good, it would only be a few people that would get mad when their creature died but I guess currently people either “kos” or start sending death threats when they get killed, while a smaller amount are just trying to enjoy the game, on the brink of quitting. I watched *unknowing* the game was getting worse, for a long time, it was only a few months ago when I quit and gave all my creatures to someone. I just kept playing until it was a soulless cash-grab, people didn’t care about having fun anymore, it was just to get the new creature which was needlessly overpriced. The LSS event was my breaking point, I didn’t want to play anymore, it was more like a race on getting the most creatures and the game was literally not open for new players. I tried to get a few of my friends into the game so I could hold on a little longer, but it was no use as it seemed they couldn’t get any of the creatures they wanted because of how overpriced everything was. I realized that even many content creators were quitting. It feels unreal how much the game changed, it seems like an improvement at first but the second you play the game it’s just not, at all. I even remember at some point the devs were saying they’ll update the map again, which *really* is needed considering how small it is and no one does anything besides sitting at oasis but I guess they realized some people will keep playing whether they do or not. Maybe one day things might change, but I really don’t think so as there will always be people playing with each new creature and new picture that is put, the devs don’t care if the game got worse, they care if people are still playing or not. Some determined new players will join, work hard to get things but at the end it’ll all be fruitless. I’m sorry for saying this, but I don’t think I can hope the game will change in a good way ever again. If the devs cared we wouldn’t have ended up like this in the first place. The only thing I can hope for is for a new survival game to be released, that’s as good and simple or even better than beta Sonaria. Well… I didn’t expect this to be so long sorry.
At this point i wouldn't even be mad if they had to remove half of the exiting creatures, it would just fix so many issues man I miss the times when ken gram ext and jot were the perfect kos creatures that could all counter each other while everything else was skill and strategy based
This is why I refused to get into CoS. I was always very tempted by the creature designs and the concept and community but I knew sonar would destroy it like they destroyed dragon adventures, a game I had spent so much time in and had made a huge part of my life that caused me a great deal of stress as they continued to ruin the game each update. I wasn’t going to let sonar have that much control over me ever again and I’m glad I stuck by that choice.
Hello! Just a random from the reaches of the internet. My experience with COS was a disaster. I was there for beta, sure, and awhile after that, but I had to quit playing days after. They created the Adventure gacha, which to me was the beginning. After that, prices went sky-high, and it was difficult for me to gain shrooms with the amount of kosers there was, and is. I no longer bother keeping up to date with the hopeless game, and I encourage others to finally quit, if they haven't already. Have a pleasant day/night!
They won’t listen to us, they’re too busy trying to push out a creature every week. Other games, Overwatch and apex legends, haven’t pushed out a new character in their recent seasons. Instead, they fixed the games. If you ask anyone they’ll say the fixes saved the games, even if they didn’t add new characters. If the cos devs just relax and fix everything you talked about then the game will be playable again.
As a old player, I gave up on the game a while ago, it just BREAKS, my pc and my cell phone entirely until it becomes unplayable. I always reported problems, but no one ever listened to me and they said sonaria is a perfect game. I agree with all the points in the video and for me the addition of another "exclusive creature", after being told there would be no more was the last push to quit together with other unfavorable factors... Sorry for the bad english :')
I've played cos since day one, I grew it, and it was the only reason I learnt to draw, I remember memorys of the first map, playing with some now overlooked creatures; and injoying a nice simple adventure. Now it's pure chaos and not its original intent it furthers from a survival game to a vibe, collection, and grind game. I hope that someday when the game is back to correctness I will play it with interest but now I will play things like DA and GD. (I don't really play da anymore, {because of the season dragons} but I still play from now to then.
Hate to say it honestly, but this game has become a adopt me/animal jam situation. where the game loses its original charm because the devs dont encourage the original aspect of the game and add meaningless expensive things so they can get the players to create a unstable economy. and there you have it, the game is only a trading simulator where you grind your life out or your behind. ------ On top of that, they don't care for us, the players feedback, at ALL. MANY people complained about the valentines and previous copy pasted events, and how putting everything in rotation and session is getting out of hand, but they havent said anything regarding our feedback. they only care for what benefits them. (proof the dev feedback channel is literally cosmetic) And yes, thank you for putting in the beginning that its not all of the devs faults of this, only the higher ups. because apparently the normal devs dont get a say on what gets added or changed the next updates. (but they still are humans and dont deserve to be attacked!) theres good survival games out there.. but theyre overshadowed by this mess
I was a beta player, I remember how fun the game was when I first started playing it- Now everything is so expensive, there are a ton of toxic people, and it's not nearly as fun as it used to be. Only reason I haven't stopped playing is because of how much effort I've put into the game already. I hope things start to get better in the future, but I highly doubt it :(
And the same could be said about their other game, dragon adventures! I used to love that game so much, but they have changed so many things about it and now it's not as fun.. I haven't played it in awhile at this point so I don't know the state of the game now, but I'm sure it hasn't improved much
It's always great to see an old uploader posting again. I know I'm new, but I can tell that you have witnessed the best parts of this game. I am verry happy that there is a new person speaking up about this issue, I hope you get to 1k+ subs :)
Thank you!! I used to want to be a CC, but no longer. Ive seen how they are treated, ive seen the golden age and the overall downfall of this game. I thought it was time to crawl out of my youtube grave and make a stand!
@@leonatics7760 I don't know how CCs are treated or the specifics into that, but I think that you make some really accurate points in the video. Keep going strong! Words are powerful.
@@tytration thank you!! And to add, CCs are commonly overworked by devs to pump out content, and are often harassed by players who want Aereis or just wanna ruin their video, or make their playtime crappy
@@leonatics7760 I didn't know that devs were coercing CCs to continue making content to the point of overworking. How'd you come to know this? I mean, it makes some sense as some people could just get the role and not make any more CoS content but overworking CCs doesn't sound good. Then again it could also be a lack of communication when it comes to communicating burnout but CCs should really have wiggle room. RUclipsrs have different upload schedules and that should be accommodated. There is a plethora of different reasons that could have gone into this but these are my thoughts based on the info for now. Thanks for letting me know. I believe there is a way to turn off the CC tag ingame, though. And block players who want Aereis.
i really enjoyed watching this video!! it made very fair points, especially the point about the rate of new creatures being made. cos is a nightmare for the collectors who play the game i imagine. i’d love to see you talk about more things similar to this!!
as someone who started playing COS when it had just released and just recently started getting back into it, I can definitely agree beta was much much better. everything was so stress free and the rate that they were pushing out creatures was literally perfect. it’s so sad to see how the game has devolved since beta. honestly I feel like soon the game will have 60-100 players max everyday because of this. its so upsetting.
I think a good plan to getting this to the developers as fast as possible is to constantly find and send videos, posts and other media like this and send them to developers directly, whether it be through discord or very popular RUclipsrs. If we as a community all come together to battle the injustices that the developers have caused for this game, we will eventually wither them down and make them give in. We must revolt against them, but not be harsh or harass them in any way shape or form. Let’s hope that this game can make a comeback and fix all the problems within it.
Glad to see someone talk about this. Ive been playing since the day COS released (although I did stop playing for a few months during beta so I didnt experience it too much), I played very actively for I think close to a year. Cos got VERY boring over time, and the worst part is that if you quit for a few weeks, youre behind on everything. There is no thought put into the game anymore, its all about money. I had enough around the LSS event and quit for good. Ive tried multiple times to get back into it but I cant. Its boring, and at this point a grindy cashgrab. I miss old COS. I honestly dont see how COS has an active fanbase.
I HATE that people only use big creatures, I use medium sized predators to hunt small creatures, but nobody uses small creatures that aren’t moonelle. I hate that
Same, I main any tier 2-3 and it's really annoying when you don't even see any other creature that isn't like... tier 4-5 idk how to explain it especially after the amount of people that use that big ass Kora. It feels unfair as there are many creatures that target you because of how you're weaker
I do agree with you on everything of this, ever since this last Valentines event happened.. I’ve sadly just given up on this game for a while and I don’t know when I’ll be back fully. I really do hope COS can be saved as it was one of my top favorites, it’s became one of my top 5’s now maybe lower. Let’s all pray and hope the best that the future will turn better for the game than it is now, I mean the game is so detailed by creatures and stuff my laptop can’t even handle it.
This occurs with each one of their games, dragon adventures use to be very simple and fun, intil they added events and leveling and nerfed certain dragons. (Mother dragon couldn't even beat a raptor lol) I don't know how it's changed since the solar event since that's when I quit. I currently play griffins destiny, I know eventually it will follow the same path but I'm playing it while it's good and isn't to much. I doubt creatures of sonaria will change what's so ever considering this is a cycle all of their games go through.
i used to play COS for a while, i think i mainly stopped at around the easter event that had the Phugu? or whatever it was called the thing that drove me away was DEFINITELY that there was just.. no actual survival save for sometimes having to leave your spot to eat the entire focus of the game definitely felt like a collection game, and though i LOVE collection games, it is VERY overwhelming when there's nonstop additions that cost SO much time and mushrooms/robux/money to get.. it just.. isn't fun anymore
I am betting Ery or someone negotiated behind the scenes to create this because so many people are quitting. A TV show, if made correctly, could bring thousands of people into the game.
I fully agree with what's said in this video, I think I started playing right after beta ended, so... 2020? back when there were still the buggy AI's that you could kill for meat, I remember that Jot was already there and Ken, and I was actually so terrified of those, I started looking into survival games like this due to the fact that my laptop could never for the love of whatever handle The Isle or anything like that, so I came to Roblox not expecting much. I loved the game and I would spend so much time on it, also because of lockdown, I liked the survival aspect because even if oasis was a spot with a lot of creatures, you could still find other groups around the map, and have to actually try to survive instead of just having to now deal with people who call Kosers anyone who kills for self defense or for food, ankle biters, and overall herbivores who in the description are like either chill, or scared of everything and in game are mostly chaotic kosers (yes yes, I know, can't call Kosers it's a survival game, but a herbivore killing another random herbivore, or a carnivore doesn't make much sense realistically, and yes, fantasy game but come on, there has to be some logic) mush economy is f*cked, the only time where I got past 10k was during the start of the last Easter event, and even then that wasn't enough for anything, I hear people talking about 200k+ shrooms to trade limiteds or dev creatures or whatever, and I'm just... What? Is this now some trading game? I don't mind the trading mechanic but I never used it unless it's to give friends creatures or revive tokens. I wish there was a server system, like some servers which are based on chill and just vibing, and survival ones where you actually have to do something interesting. Rn the only times where I do something interesting is when a kosers appears in oasis, because at least I get to do some action. Creatures are also very unbalanced, some tier 3 are so weak they are basically a tier 2 with flavor, and there are way too many- I would prefer if there were only 20 or something... 2/3 flying/aquatics and the rest land. And no breath abilities. Don't get me wrong, I suck at pvp and I would die even more often if it weren't for the Aereis breath ability, but it's so annoying, especially since there are so many different kinds- Also, vibrant colors- again, fantasy sure, but if you look at the map, where the flip is a purple Momoa supposed to blend in to survive and eat???? I feel like color palettes should be restricted, to the colors of the area the creature us supposed to survive in, this would also help to make players maybe stick to an area that isn't always the Goshadarn oasis. A bigger map would also help, because it would take longer for people to actually get somewhere, and maybe they could decide to NOT go all to the same spot that is so far away. Food, listen, I love getting meat for free, but I preferred the AI's at least they game some sort of satisfaction when killed, rn it's just fish. I enjoyed the survival aspect, but now? Now it's barely that, I play mostly the same creatures, Aereis, Valkurse, and sometimes Lure for old time's sake and because it's still one of my faves. Chat could be proximity based? I have no idea if that even exists but it would make more sense. Or the ability to only talk to pack members. I personally love the redesigns, that's the only thing I like, I feel like they got more details and look less wonky (sorry Lissi, I loved you but you had to go). Map, the map is useful, but it doesn't make sense much in a survival aspect, at least the showing players, like you can already sniff and there's literally a long ray that directs you to the nearest creature- I think it's useful for packs but... Meh. Too many people in once place, I'm repetitive I know, but back when there was uncomfortability at least there was a certain limit now it's just a mess. And there still are so many bugs, it's been years and not much has been done about them, and at this point I don't think the devs care to fix them, but I'm not even on the discord, never have been and never will, because I just don't care about the next upcoming creatures, I was ok when Ken was the strong scary boy, while now nobody plays as it anymore, or the old creatures... I wouldn't be surprised if the devs just removed some old ones just to replace them... They better not cause that would seriously be my last straw. I lost most of my interest in the game, I still play it, because I'm teaching some friends how to and that's actually decently fun for now, but I don't think I'll stick around for much longer sadly. Sorry for my big rant, it's also pretty confusing because eh, words are hard and I'm not good at explaining myself, also English isn't my first language so I HOPE I didn't accidentally offend anyone? But yeah, I agree with everything said and more.
Also want to point out how normalized KOSing is. Maybe I'm just sensitive but sometimes it just sucks a$$ when I work hard to glimmer a tier 5 creature and I get killed.
I started playing cos when beta ended, and quit just about about a year ago because of the grind. At first it wasn’t all that bad, and the first christmas event was very fun and laid back. But then they started adding, and raising prices, and adding, and raising prices more. Everything became tedious. I started playing the game not to have fun, but just to grind for creatures I wanted. They focused so much on pushing out newer and more expensive creatures bugs went unfixed and anytime anyone “complained” about that the devs would pile on. You can even see on tiktoks of players saying things seem to expensive, a couple select devs love to rush to the comments and reply to everyone about “well we have to get paid somehow!!”. I think that’s the main problem of the game. The devs want to get paid at the expensive of their players, and the expense of the entire economy.
I am a former player since the beta stages. (Around the time where sochuri were seen as leaders and there was a middle island and everyone united against KOSing, taking a more communal, unique, and positive strategy on survival before those little bird guys with the lights and invisibility came into existence [forgot their names but they were at the start of the shift] ) The community has DEFINITLEY fallen hard. As said in the parenthesis, the community and game felt unique due to the unity it had. Everyone would have kind of- parties when new creatures came out and life was good. There was peace, serenity, and the occasional drama. The attitude during those times in the beta stages made me feel like the game could be different than just a standard survival game, could be more. It felt like a safe place. Now, as I opened this comment up, yes, I am a FORMER player. I've quit entirely. The dramatic shift in the way the game was handled and new community was too much. And I can't stress that enough. First of all, KOSing started to become more frequent towards the end of beta. People still united against them, even me participating in some legendary events I can still remember to this day, but many started giving up. Toxicity amongst players also increased after the game's release. Fortunately there were still people out there who believed the old community can come back and KOSing could be won. Then it became clear that the devs were in on the change too. It felt like a battle lost, like wasted time, a broken dream to bring back a memory. Not only that being a reason for my leave, the modern game's new community gave me bad trust issues. I still struggle with them despite having been gone for more than two years. It was no longer healthy for me to play. I still look back with some sense of nostalgia for what the game was and the hopes of what it could've been. This is the same way many other earlier beta players feel.
FINALLY someone who agrees with me on the issue with kosing. I loathe how toxic the community is. They whine about it being a "survival game" but they kill everyone on sight and chase people off of servers. The community is garbage and i refuse to interact with it because of this exact reason. By the way, i suggest not returning, because if you try fighting kosers you be called "Crybaby" "child" and other sad insults.
As someone who played cos in beta and has long since quit (knalriki redesign was the final nail in the coffin for me, it was one of my favs and now it looks weird), seeing the game just get worse and worse and not better is what I mentally predicted. The community was already full of toxicity, the game was getting harder for my computer to run, and it didn’t FEEL very survival-y anymore. I still have friends who play it but I have not ever since they changed knalriki’s model, they shouldn’t have gone on the remodel spree anyways, some of the redesigns look odd to me and I miss the old ones. The difficulty to get new creatures was especially a complaint for me, not only do I have to use a gacha, but my luck is HORRIBLE and I would go shroom poor before I could even get the creature and would need to farm. The game has no right to be survival now, it’s pay to win and gacha.
CoS pretty much broken from day to another day because of the system itself. Right now, i love how they finally make a new design for the map which mean not just a creature, but focusing on a map to make it more fun to explore and looks way more realistic with wildness. I also hope they bring back the old water vision since in the beta, there a limit how far u can see in the water which make it more realistic as u go fsr to the bottom, it become more pitch black. I also hope they will make a new lighting effect for the game which make it more beautiful to be played especially a lighting with aurora at the night or a blur vision when it start to raining or snow day
As a player of this game, I’ve been playing on mobile since beta, I think the best way for them to make the game more playable is to make separate worlds for each group of creature type, such as arctic biome like from dragon adventure into Cos for cold habitat creatures, this would make role-plays more in depth and may finally get ppl to start doing what the game is intended for, this would further help the lag for many older device users as the game tends to crash and lag quite often, with separate worlds overcrowded areas wouldn’t be a problem and will further reduced lag, one other thing that makes the game more unplayable is the amount of unrealistic plants and details to the map, this goes to glowing rocks in open daylight and big glowing plants and esc. Overall the game is very broken, tho it can be fixed with help from the community
Whats annoying to me is there is literally no balance, they will just make new Tier 5 creatures constantly thats stronger than the old top creatures literally every single creature drop or give it an ability formerly unique to one creature massively devaluing collections of the long term players. This is a road to disaster the game is already unstable as hell due to horrible coding, random crashes, rubber banding, error messages and thats not even to mention the fact that the devs are constantly ruining the economy that the players have to then stabilize. The management of the game is a joke with no punchline.
Agree when I played the game my name was “HowToGetAJot“ because I really wanted the species but it’s so damn expensive. I stopped playing eventually because I didn’t want to spend my whole life into farming all day.
As a person whom has played COS ever since the beta, I dont have any of the new creatures due to the costs and how easily you just get a more common one. The economy has fallen and playthrough is extremely frustrating. I hope this can be fixed before it is worse.
Im kinda sad everything in you said in this video is completely true. I have also been playing since 2020 and I feel like that was the best time for cos and it's been hard seeing its downfall overwhelming years. I won't give up on cos and I still love the game and how much depth it put into some of the creatures. But I also won't ignore the problems it has... which is unfortunately a lot...
Another thing is the players. Specifically, the "Anti-kos" players that will kill you if you attack ONE player, regardless of the reason. Even if you are killing them because they attacked you, the "anti-kosers" will go after you if they think you attacked first
I’ve played this game since beta. I used to be obsessed with this game and it’s amazing play-style of growing up a creature and surviving in this world and collecting more overtime. I’ve played this game so much till the point I had every species in the game. As more crappy updates came by and the overwhelming amount of creatures I need to collect to keep my complete inventory, it became such a chore that I did not feel motivated to do anymore. I eventually stopped playing this game because I see no point of playing it anymore. It’s play style today is awful when 90% of the players in the servers sit in oasis and then spam in the chat: “KOSER OMG KILL THEM” Frequently. The game currently doesn’t feel like a survival game anymore, and instead, feels like a ‘go grind your ass for a creature you’ll probably not get from this gacha’. Seriously miss this game, but I cannot enjoy the game anymore like I used to.
I wish the Devs would listen to the community more, or try to make their game more engaging, with valuable play time. Forcing players to grind is not fun, it’s unfair to those who are f2p and those who don’t like to play video games 24/7. Mobile players, and players who don’t have the best internet are also out of luck, the game crashes, fails to load half of the time, and those who don’t lag while playing are lucky. There’s creatures in the game that are still bugged since *I* last played. *Another thing that just bothers me is the whole KOS thing going on, KOS standing for “Kill on sight” but being so overused to the point where it just means “attack that person”. It’s not fun playing a survival game when fighting is built-in, and the community doesn’t like it. Same with the game for some reason, crashing on you for even engaging in combat then punishing players for disconnecting.* Absolutely ridiculous. Also. Sonar studios created Griffins destiny, and I like it! It’s a fun spin on the average Roblox role-play game! I don’t know why COS hasn’t caught up to it’s newer superior, still (basically) using the same old map, very slowly revamping random creatures designs instead of fixing broken ones, adding more unnecessary creatures to the already laggy and overwhelming experience that is playing the game, and feeding off of players who buy Robux. Griffins Destiny (from what I know, I’m still new to playing it) doesn’t make it insanely difficult to earn in-game currency. I just think Griffins Destiny has something COS needs.
frfr, major fall from grace beta was peak Edit: To be honest, Every part of the roblox survival game community has fell from grace now Ludi taking The Isle amounts of time to get an update out (Dare I say Yandere Simulator) Cenozoic Survival has been discontinued as of now and most stuff from the devs in the discord is unrelated to the game with them doing birthdays, awareness stuff, and just sucking off some documentary makers And all the other survival games are just so obscure nobody knows about them apart from mini communities Edit 2 (Rant): Also, the addition as it seems a whole universe gachas and the removal of random gacha were definitely BAD decisions in my opinion, And the rotation shop is plain ABSURD. The event gachas should have not been removed as well because they add more magic and dopamine seeing the warden disappear (for me), and the event shop prices ARE ABSURD TOO. And if it seems like I am a bit of a "Conservative" player, I guess I am? Edit 3 (Extension of rant, And probably controversial): And because of everything that happened to the game I loved, I basically quit, And I definitely think this game and Sonar Studios is having similarities to a certain Russian union with a hammer and sickle in their flag...
hey there! i'm voidphobia/voidmonster, one of the players you contacted for this video. this turned out informative, respectful, and honest. i agree with so many of the points you brought up. it's unfortunate how broken and mishandled creatures of sonaria is in its current state. currency and events are two of COS's biggest issues currently, alongside the data issues/glitches and lack of communication from developers. i'm hoping the more attention that is brought to these problems, the higher chance they may have to be focused and fixed. but i also sadly don't predict much change, as the developers and owners have clearly proven how obtuse and unopen to change they are within the last year. they make fun of the community- see us as beggars and whiners. until their attitude changes from being entirely profit-focused to appreciating the concerns and ideas brought up by their community, COS will likely continue to fall apart. i can only hope the future proves me wrong, or that we can at least enjoy the time we have left with this game.
wonderful observations. thank you for joining the fight for a better COS!
p.s. - i meant to reply to you on discord as well, but it looks like you're not in the COS discord server anymore and your DMs are turned off for non-friends. just wanted to thank you for allowing some information of mine to go towards the project!
Of course!! You were a massive help!! Also… i got banned from the CoS server XD
@@leonatics7760 really?! sorry about that! unless it was on purpose, haha. either way, fantastic work!!
Either way
They just don't want anyone to give offens opnions about them
Remember when those who complained about halloween boss got banned???
They're just hypersensitive about these kind of stuff!
@@leonatics7760 If that's because of the video then that's super concerning....!!
@@SecretRatDestroyer i was really mad when they removed the random gacha, considering that you need to wait 14 mins for one spin (5 mush per 2 mins) and i didn't have that much free time to stack random pulls. it took me an excruciating amount of time to get Vaumora and ESPECIALLY Militrua from their gachas, and it just hurts.
also, i feel like broken enconomies are an inevitability, no matter how many games Sonar might make. it's already happened to both dragon adventures and CoS, especially with how grindy both games are. so far, the most efficient way to get coins in DA is to do quests (mainly grinding) and to harvest materials and sell them (even more grinding.)
Most of the events are fun (Valentines event is garbo, only good ways to get hearts is to feed your dragon endless amounts of chocolates, or do the time race. and only 2 ways to get the egg, buy it with event money or by minigames which is EXTREMELY rare and hard to do.) but, the event dragons eventually end up getting super overpriced and players will sell for/pay millions of coins for one dragon
@@SecretRatDestroyer ik the devs are so money hungry
Who remembers how hard it was to get the snowflake ornament for the first event?
I feel like the Valentine's update is the final nail in the coffin for COS. The new creatures are so expensive, and you barely get hearts. You'd have to collect 250 hearts just to unlock the LEAST expensive valentine's creature 🤕
Its so baddd
they're adding a new method atleast
But nobody cares abt them anyways
@@leonatics7760 in the Halloween event I fell in love with the sal, I spent 7 days grinding and now I don't really like it

They need to:
1. Stop adding new creatures for a while, except for events
2. Stop adding expensive new shops

@@Nothing.915 EXACTLY.
I miss the golden days-
They've once announced working on a new map so long ago. Now they are finally doing it after so long
The old days was the Best Moments of CoS ngl
Thoes were the best days of COS, I wish we could go back to those days…
I think they are doing this because in the olds days, people wanted some type of creature fast because of the leaks, they wanted in game
I honestly think it would be a better idea if they made a seperate game that's similar to COS, but just a roleplay game with all the creatures available to play from the start, it's a way they can keep making cool creatures without overwhelming COS and its players
@@ExilaArika ehh, that kinda defeats the whole point. They're releasing constant new creatures so players won't leave.
Fun fact there is 200+ creatures in the game
exactly, like the original commenter said the creatures are nice, but there are too many of them, and they are too overpriced
I started playing in beta my exp:
1. Became more pay-to-win
2. Ery is just a chaos creator
3. Honestly a blast just playing now with all the kos
4. Events being bad now
5. If you cant grind you are pretty much doomed
6. (My opinion) the designs became worse
7. Old map.
8. The scrapped creatures being actually good
I didnt have more but i miss features like:
-Sharks being rare
-Footprints
-Some old models
-Less pay-to-win
-Better community
Thank you for anyone reading this have a good day you deserve it ❤️
I agree the designs have gotten less inspired
I personally loved when you could actually *see* other players look at you; it added life and made you able to watch where players were turning to bite in combat
The designs have become less alienish and more of something you'd see in dragon adventures, I miss the days when the only dragon inspired creature was the sochuri

Well said
Even Erythia somehow toxic but i prefer her as leader more
This true abut griffin denasty.
Yes!!
Yes! I've been eyeing the harp isles for a while

My friend, you have spoken the truth. and as much as it pains me so, as a fan that has loved this game for the longest time, it is nothing more than the truth, if the developers do not fix this, then the blood of the beautiful world they created, will be on their hands.
as a person who has played since the 1st christmas event, personally i don't think cos should necessarily die, in fact cos could literally make a different gamemode that revolves entirely around survival where there:
would be temperature differences depending on where u are and what season it is.
some of the more important tokens that are used for the less expensive gacha's but none of the others.
more accessibility to most of the creatures except for healers.
and missions that are more completable multiple times that lean towards how the creature is supposed behave, the more times completed the more mush with little to no cooldown per mission completed.
also firing their best coder that was single handedly rewritting an entire game code only to be banned for a joke abt snorlax forgetting amnesia then somehow derailing into god knows what was a stupid decision on the cos's team part. we literally could've had a rewitten code that would solve most of the games current issues + some by now and I can't wait for those games so that way i can just play cos wayyyyy less often and mainly focus on those 2 games, i just hope they don't go down the same path as cos has
I personally doubt CoS can be saved at this point. It just keeps getting worse.. I've completely and fully quit the game and dont plan on ever returning unless things are finally fixed, I miss beta.
you perfectly explained a majority of the issues. Good job!
Thanks! Ive probably quit for good as well. I have a lot of rare stuff but im not gonna trade it away, in the small chance the game can be saved

I just manajed to get the Viracniar...
Dawg the minigames were so fuckin easy- plus they added the boosters that increase chances. Why tf didnt u just do the minigames?
The downfall began at the recode, it was a genuinely fun game where you could at least pass time with pvp and it was less grindy
Then suddenly an year later, the game is alive, the recode changed everything
When Harp isles releases the gamr will die at last.
It's dragging its rotting dying corpse with grindy tactics (artifact system) and FOMO (op event creatures and monthly system)
Rn its going really well, it reached 41k players days ago. I'm really happy for it.

They choose that

yea DA is an actual game and not a valuable collector CoS has become, but it still has some optimizing issues making it less enjoyable, like if you are in an EU region you wont get ping below 300, and this game is _not_ good at making lag less fatal-- fighting is basically not an option.. But still, an incredibly amazing game and I agree to try it out :D
Ohhh yeah! I haven't played that one in a while, but I love the exploration/gradual collection mechanics. It doesn't feel like I'm grinding in that game.
Sounds fun, I’ve been looking for a new game to play. Gonna check it out today lol
Woah! Could i have a link to that server? Bc i love playing realistic

This is so correct, I wish that the people behind cos would actually consider what the community is saying.
I feel like they KNOW whats happening, so theyre just trying to make as much money as possible before dipping and leaving the game to die

(Sorry for the lengthy post, I just have a lot of...disappointment...regarding this game.)
I just wish to share my experiences with: the fandom, game, and many more.
@@squibtatotomato very VERY well said :)
Im playing since very early beta, so if you want to hear my experience in an unnecesarily long text, feel free to stick around :)
So, Ive always loved the animal survival genre, especially with aliens.
Honestly, cos is a game with true potential, if just that the devs put in effort, like come one why did they ban eti, his like one of the best devs on the team, sigh currently I am suffering in the economy as us mobile players have no freaking way to grind mush, i feel like at this point the game if more of grinding than for enjoyment, they just want us to waste time on the game so they can grab the cash and run, pls make cos great again
wait why did they ban eti?
I think they banned him for z00philia allegations?
I'm not too sure as there was little information about why eti was banned/fired from the team, for now take this with a lil grain of salt.
@@ezrrarlone1802 I heard that too, and if the accusations are true I fully accept it. But the main issue I have is the fact that THEY REFUSE TO TELL ON THE DISCORD. Discord is 13+ only, so people there deserve to know. Their silence on why makes me think that it might be something else, such as them using the accusations (true or not) as an excuse to get rid of them because something about him rubbed them the wrong way somehow.
sure wasn't a good look that the dev who was most loved by the community got taken off the team and they wouldn't say why, but they all chose not to publicize it and i respect that. we shouldn't spread rumors with no evidence, there's just no need to create any more drama when it seems all the individuals involved already settled it
Eti was removed because of the recode, he took too long, and went off contract, plus the recode would've literally broke the game.
This aged poorly, when I started playing in February it had maybe 4k players or less, now it’s getting 11-13k players
Now 40k players on Fridays. Its going really well.
As a mobile player, I can barely stay in the game for 10 minutes. (And sometimes less crowded servers doesn’t even help)
The data usage in this game is crazy. Also due to this, I can barely farm anything. I hope it’s fixed soon, I really wanna enjoy this game again 😭
as a former creature collector, keyword, former. I was so close, only 8 creatures away to getting all of them, then... umm, this weekly creature release thing started, and I now have 30 more to go
guess what! it got 100x worse
Yeah I quit and I advise you do the same
Yep i hate bugs and glitches well they need to fix this problem on Creature of Sonaria it will worth it :)
I have 800 hours of playtime 😭
@@leonatics7760 dang. how many times u been kosed?
been playing since the metaverse event, absolutely right about the lag. there are literally servers in LIMBO that are infinite menu loading, they've been here since late november and its insane they're still here.
I’m also a nuerodiverse, yet I found the unscrambler quite fun, but I do agree with a lot of other things, I love the game but sometimes things wanna make me quit
I did too!! Neurodivergence however is a spectrum so some others did struggle. Im glad u had fun!
And the fact that they're creating a TV show out of this is just embarrassing.
what really???
@@pillowdragon5576 Yes really, they cancel shows that could be potential QUALITY to make room for a series based off a crappy roblox game.
I don't see why COS deserves it and, say, Wings of Fire doesn't.
On the topic of bugs, here’s some bugs that I’ve encountered (most very frequently):
- The log-in streak will suddenly restart if the servers crash (which is frustrating because I’ve been trying to get Felisio)
- Log-in streak gachas don’t give you any creatures 99% of the time. It just bugs out entirely.
- Servers crash very frequently
- Frequent server disconnections
- Maiueve still has no neck until adulthood when other pieces cover up the empty spaces.
I still remember the inflation during some of the events, a 10k mush creature could triple just because of an event
Trading is very much awful, people only want new creatures which makes it hard to obtain any new creatures or mush via trade
The “survival” aspect was thrown out of the window a long time ago when they added the meat spawners, and they have done nothing to prevent KOS, only encourage it!
That’s good! I may pick it back up, then if I find the time when it releases.
Yeah I agree
I disagree trading exists
If they see this video, they'll track our accounts down and ban us on the game, the disco, and the wiki. They are too flaky to handle criticism...
Discord*
A very well put together video. Pretty much sums up my thoughts on the game nice vid
Thank yoouuu
Let dive into the ending of this story together...
Yo it's overtoasted- 👀
All of my dev creatures I'd bought were gone, and so was my boreal warden, plus a few other creatures I only noticed later because I never really used them
fun fact, the dev's said they'd make it easier to earn mushrooms but later added the rotation store witch was overpriced 💀
Theyre crazy
The economy of Sonaria is like Turkeys economy...
3:42 I literally get this EVERY DAY DAWG!!! I can barely play the game anymore because of it
Same here
the events were so grindy that i ended up just buying a lot of the creatures, and now I can't even play it as it crashes after 5 mins of playing 💀💀💀
At this point i wouldn't even be mad if they had to remove half of the exiting creatures, it would just fix so many issues man
I miss the times when ken gram ext and jot were the perfect kos creatures that could all counter each other while everything else was skill and strategy based
This is why I refused to get into CoS.
------
On top of that, they don't care for us, the players feedback, at ALL. MANY people complained about the valentines and previous copy pasted events, and how putting everything in rotation and session is getting out of hand, but they havent said anything regarding our feedback. they only care for what benefits them. (proof the dev feedback channel is literally cosmetic)
And yes, thank you for putting in the beginning that its not all of the devs faults of this, only the higher ups. because apparently the normal devs dont get a say on what gets added or changed the next updates. (but they still are humans and dont deserve to be attacked!)
theres good survival games out there.. but theyre overshadowed by this mess
Agreed!! I recommend Path of Titans, ive never played but it looks super fun
@@leonatics7760 oh yea ive seen that before! i think its too much for my laptop unfortunately though
This game is so boring the only thing you can do in the game is to kill other people- and you already know how people react to you killing them
I was a beta player, I remember how fun the game was when I first started playing it- Now everything is so expensive, there are a ton of toxic people, and it's not nearly as fun as it used to be.
Thanks!
as someone who started playing COS when it had just released and just recently started getting back into it, I can definitely agree beta was much much better. everything was so stress free and the rate that they were pushing out creatures was literally perfect. it’s so sad to see how the game has devolved since beta. honestly I feel like soon the game will have 60-100 players max everyday because of this. its so upsetting.
I doubt creatures of sonaria will change what's so ever considering this is a cycle all of their games go through.
i used to play COS for a while, i think i mainly stopped at around the easter event that had the Phugu? or whatever it was called
the thing that drove me away was DEFINITELY that there was just.. no actual survival save for sometimes having to leave your spot to eat
the entire focus of the game definitely felt like a collection game, and though i LOVE collection games, it is VERY overwhelming when there's nonstop additions that cost SO much time and mushrooms/robux/money to get.. it just.. isn't fun anymore
There's a tv show in development of cos.....................
I am betting Ery or someone negotiated behind the scenes to create this because so many people are quitting. A TV show, if made correctly, could bring thousands of people into the game.
@@That1VideoGamer I wish they fixed the bugs instead of making more bugs by adding too many creatures
@@tias512they are fr trying to fix the issues by making more issues smh
@@muin_ LOL
Don't get me wrong, I suck at pvp and I would die even more often if it weren't for the Aereis breath ability, but it's so annoying, especially since there are so many different kinds-
Also, vibrant colors- again, fantasy sure, but if you look at the map, where the flip is a purple Momoa supposed to blend in to survive and eat????
And now it's getting a TV show.
cos has turned into a greedy money grab from ery
Also want to point out how normalized KOSing is. Maybe I'm just sensitive but sometimes it just sucks a$$ when I work hard to glimmer a tier 5 creature and I get killed.
Fr i agree, kosing can just be mean
(Around the time where sochuri were seen as leaders and there was a middle island and everyone united against KOSing, taking a more communal, unique, and positive strategy on survival before those little bird guys with the lights and invisibility came into existence [forgot their names but they were at the start of the shift] )
The community has DEFINITLEY fallen hard.
I used to love to play this game, I had tones of creatures and new all the values, seems like j left for 1-2 months and I know nothing anymore 🤷♀️
I started playing in beta and it was so much fun but it’s lost that magic it’s toxic and expensive and I wish I could love it again
Getting kicked out of the game on mobile is so annoying
Dude that whole thing with guessing what creature it is in the christmas event was impossible for me😭
Another thing is the players.
Same with the game for some reason, crashing on you for even engaging in combat then punishing players for disconnecting.*
Absolutely ridiculous.
I just think Griffins Destiny has something COS needs.
frfr, major fall from grace
beta was peak
Edit: To be honest, Every part of the roblox survival game community has fell from grace now
Ludi taking The Isle amounts of time to get an update out (Dare I say Yandere Simulator)
Cenozoic Survival has been discontinued as of now and most stuff from the devs in the discord is unrelated to the game with them doing birthdays, awareness stuff, and just sucking off some documentary makers
And all the other survival games are just so obscure nobody knows about them apart from mini communities
Edit 2 (Rant): Also, the addition as it seems a whole universe gachas and the removal of random gacha were definitely BAD decisions in my opinion, And the rotation shop is plain ABSURD.
