Is it compulsory to sacrifice animals?
First, no where in the Quran it says that it is compulsory. Secondly, the concept of sacrifice is different from the traditionalists approach. I intend to make a lecture on this. It is on my list. Thanks.

I was under the impression that Allah s Muhammad to respond in specific ways to specific questions or challenges, but since he is saying what he was instructed, I wouldn't call it the Prophet's sayings but rather still the sayings of Allah. It's just that there were I suppose instances when the Prophets was asked questions and would respond as instructed and Allah felt it necessary to include these question/answer sessions within the Book.
First, angel Gabriel brought the message of The Holy Quran to the prophet, Allah did not intervene because judgement day will arise. Second, The Prophet was thought through pen and would recite when ordered Furthermore; these are the verses to be recited by everyone because it makes you learn to reason, and increase your own reminder and strength your own understanding of the Quran. You are meant to feel the Holy Quran not just read it.
Nothing from the Quran is from the Prophet, God tells Him “Say”. The Prophet only repeated what he heard from God which The Angel Gabriel delivered to him (the prophet).
