My freakin dog got ahold of one a few years back. It was a nightmare for both of us. I was going to attempt to remove the quills myself but since they burrow deeper into the skin over time, I didn't want to break any off under his skin. Sooo, to the vet we went. They removed 71 quills from his face, inside his mouth, his chest, front legs, and along his side. Cost me $780. because they anesthetized him. Apparently that falls under a surgical procedure. Now he has ptsd. Whenever we go to that area he refuses to get out of the truck. We're still working that out. 🙄
