But in all seriousness, don't forgot that Rainbow Dash has popularity and reputation that stems all throughout Equestria as the element of loyalty, and has it from previous events within the show such as the sonic rainboom and the winner of the Best Fliers Competition. It's possible that the author of Daring Do wanted have a special guest (or whatever you'd call it in the novel industry) this time, and it _just_ so happened that Rainbow Dash had a dream that made it seem real. That would be the headcanon to follow up on the dream headcanon though.
So if Anthony had only cared about the episode he'd be out of his pony themed purgatory.

I agree more with The Awkward Reviewer in things like this. The show can be deep a lot of times, but we go way to into it on a lot of the episodes that aren't very deep. Sometimes we just need to take a step back and remember that this is a show about anthropomorphic, pastel-colored horses.

I hate "They were dreaming the whole time" headcanons. They can be used in any situation and are pretty the much to go-to belief of any fan that doesn't like something. Unless it's stated or confirmed, I consider it very stupidly unlikely that something in the show is just a dream or coma. The same reason I like the Ho-oh theory over the coma theory for why Ash from Pokemon is still ten years old. It uses facts given in the series and other hints to give it a well thought out explanation instead of just "It's a dream none of it's real go home". And since it's so cliche I'd never have my mind blown by hearing it. It can be applied to any situation and I prefer stuff that can be more proven by the show's canon.
Ah, but that's the thing. That tends to be the headcanon for people who _want_ to like it. Antony, Tommy, and Digi seem to have a professional enough mindset to avoid using their bias of want in their analysis. The only reason they even bring it up as a possibility was because of Rainbow Dash bashing her head into the tree in her eager excitement. Had that not even happen, I doubt none of them would have even brought it up at all.
At least that is my analysis of your comment, and you are still entitled to your opinion on the cliche dream headcanon.

I'm confused as to where Antony got this idea that Digi like every ep, one of the first reviews he ever did was Boast Busters which he's pretty infamously hates.
It was for the joke. Also if Boast Busters could be viewed as the "Worst" Episode then maybe Antony does not even count it as even a episode. Hows that for Head-Cannon? {Non-Brony}
That was just an example, he dislikes other ep too. I also don't think anyone considers it the worst.
It's probably because when there are episodes that everyone else hates or dislikes (for example Magical Mystery Cure) Digi likes it.
I just couldn't stop laughing as you flipped out at the end when Bronycurious ended up with his mind blown instead.
If this theory is true, then I believe I know why the book had Rainbow Dash on it. Right before she obtains the book, she is writing in the diary about her adventures. Now, think about how long it would have taken for that book to be written and shipped to her house. 4-6 months. Why would Rainbw Dash write about her experience in the diary 4-6 months after it happened? Answer: she is still within a dream, so her mind skipped the waiting period for the book to come out.

You can't seriously suggest that the episode was so bad that the only way to rescue it is by turning it into a dream sequence. You only do that for the really bad, unsalvageable, unforgivable, deserves-to-have-all-traces-of-it-wiped-from-existance-but-it's-impossible-to-rewrite-history-so-this-is-the-next-best-thing, Mass Effect 3 ending level of badness. Or as a joke (ala Newhart or the Breaking Bad/Malcolm in the Middle spoof). Yes there were flaws, but it really wasn't that bad.
Antony's reaction was mine as well - so she's real, big deal. The bigger problem was why they're all just standing there like idiots doing nothing. To which I can only come up with that it's the shock of finding out that the fictional character they are fans of is actually real.
Overall, yeah there have been many suggestions that would have improved the story, and making Daring Do real did introduce a few questions that are problematic, and the mane six were really stupid during the fight scene at the house; but it was by no means a disaster. A mess, but not a disaster.

Oh, thank Celestia. This idea makes me feel so much better. Really. I mean it. I couldn't imagine having to watch the rest of season 4 with this episode under its belt.
Now we just have to hope Daring Do never shows up again in a similar situation where the episode doesn't have the excuse it was all in R.D.'s head.

I prefer my headcanon that it was all twilight trolling RB. Fits in with the whole "Twilight's Mom writes Daring Do."
Although one interesting thing pointed out in another video is they never actually said Daring Do was fictional in either episode. Perhaps, rather than Indiana Jones, she is closer to Lawrence of Arabia.
I've already thoroughly checked them both out.

Acting ridiculous at the beginning to attempt to show Fluttershy it's actually not that bad (Pinkie style) >Scheming against Big Mac to remove him from the choir >Confronting Fluttershy after her first covert performance, saying she was 'on the wrong side' (hint hint) >Last performance where Fluttershy was revealed was at Sugarcube Corner (rigged curtain, plus Pinkie appearing on the side when it falls down seems to indicate she shone the light on Fluttershy) >Loudly reminding Fluttershy that no one was acting hostile or jealous toward her in the end. *insert mind blown*

objection: If the coma theory( though I do like it.) was to take off then what about the Daring do and the diary book at the end of the episode with rainbow dash, that would break the possibility of it actually being a possible theory.
presumably that would also be part of the dream. No time actually passed between finishing the adventure and getting home, in the same sense that they never actually spent weeks trying to find her. After all, in a dream you never remember how you got where you are. So unless we see that entry later on, it might still be a dream.
BlazeDrag But that would then make the whole venture pointless, even the lesson unless she remembers after waking up. But I would think that she would of actually have written in the diary because they made a big deal about it in the episode Castle-mania.
I know what I talk about it remotely related to the episode but after Tommy got mind blown I was on thew floor laugh my plot off, I hope you do more episodes like this, she how you interact with each other is entertaining.

Digi's theory is kind of similar to the one I came up with to enjoy the episode just a little more: the events of the episode are in fact fantasy parallels to what "really" transpired between the Mane Six and A.K. Yearling, as she inspires herself and writes stories of Daring Do via influence of real life occurences of hers. And we, the audience, did not see what really happened, but the way the events where then written inside A.K. Yearling's new Daring Do book. It's a fun littly way I found to appreciate the episode a little more, even if it's just a meek headcanon of sorts.
That was awesome!
Also, Digi.... Thats exactly how I thought the episode was about, (besides theyre making a live-action Daring Do movie) its too perfect

I agree with Doblestorm. I have been pondering on that lately... A unicorn of supreme power who knows nothing of friendship... Spoken so quietly of, as though he was of unimportance, but it always makes it just sound like he was known, but how much do we actually know him...? A high level of magic and the idea of perhaps having power in the government... Perhaps a new villain had arose... One with power to rival that of our celestial beings... And the elements of harmony... The tree is cannon... But what if starswirl had something to do with that tree... Perhaps with clover the clever and her friends, and their friendship combined, they were able to create the tree... And if starswirl was connected to the elements by those means... Would that mean that Celestia and Luna would have to rely on normal magic and wits...? ERMAHGERDNOWIGOTTAGOWRITEAFANFIC!!!

i liked the episode and about what digi said in his review in the episode daring due could be like " well i still haven't finished exploring this dungeon so i can just tell people it will be like 2 more month's until my books finished that should give me time" so there's just one problems with digi's argument and also the conkers bad fur day music in this episode was a nice touch
AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO LIKES DARING DON'T?!?!? I WATCHED IT LIKE 1-100 TIMES! I THINK IT IS BOSS! but still i think the only reason i like it is because i can relate to rainbow dash on how we would react to our favorite hero's being real!
People who suffer from lack of confidence like me were probably happy about the lesson, and im a sucker for Indiana Jones. I liked the episode. But it is infact a bad MLP:FIM episode. A good episode explores a concept and uses the characters efficiently with good writing (season 1 finale for instance). Bad ones like this one, usually revolve around a single interesting idea but fails to tell a good story (MMM is still my least favorite). And also, i personally do not like the episodes where all of the 6 main ponies are crammed into the story while they mostly do absolutely nothing. This episode could have been great if Rainbow Dash embarked on the journey with just Twilight or better yet; alone.
