Another delivery truck scrapes the roof at the 11foot8+8 bridge

- Last April 2021 crash! Just 42 minutes after the reefer truck, another delivery truck from a hardware store scraped the roof pretty badly. The roof stayed on, but some piece of the box fell off, so I am calling it crash #166
The 11'8"+8 bridge's meals are a leading economic recovery indicator.
Hello! It's nice to see you here! My Mom bought her Pixel 4a because of your review and loves it!
Oh hey Lon. How's the Gigabit Pro going, has the cable management improved at all since the last update? haha

"Sign says that the truck is too high!" "No way, this truck is Lowe!"
Lowe enough!
The over height warning sign didn't turn on, but the traffic light changed to yellow as the truck entered the intersection. I don't think the warning sign is working.
@@ILGuy2012 Yeah, this is like the 4th video now that it hasn't worked for. Which is really bad, because it's likely giving drivers familiar with the area a false sense of security.
XD
Dadda bum tiss
"Boss can't see the damage if it's on the roof" This guy, probably.
Unless boss is a subscriber.
I'm sure the local rental places have learned to watch this channel!
At the company I used to drive for, we had a guy put a sunroof in a 42' trailer loaded to the roof with sanitary napkins (we called them manhole covers) in Chicago and then drove it all the way to California in rain most of the way. The load swelled up and popped the sides of the trailer right off the frame. The load was refused, so he turned around and brought it all the way back to Detroit and dropped it in the yard. The boss noticed.
@@mark351 That's not a rental, it's a truck used by Lowe's for delivery, most commonly domestic appliances, but sometimes building materials, such as insulation.
Yeah so do you say anything?..that is the question..hey boss do watch youtube videos?..no? ok dont
Can you imagine how epic all these recent crashes would have been if the bridge had never been raised?
Yeah, Id rather it hadnt been raised
I imagine some, the more obvious ones, may have been avoided; some "It might fit" self-rhetorics might have been a "yeah, it ain't gonna fit" if it was never raised. Some, but not all.
@@jul1440 you must be fun at parties?...
@@jul1440 lmao
@@jul1440 Yeah and also I love it when the bridge shaves and peels the roof just enough to make the metal roll up. Like when you slice butter very thinly. So we still have incidents to look forward to lmao.
These new crashes have confirmed a strong truth in life: if you make something 'idiot proof' the world will make a better idiot.
"better"
😂😂😂
You tell them to think outside the box and what do they do, they build a better box.
Wow, the bridge is on a winning streak :-)
Nah just Bigger idiots not better ones.
It’s evolution.
I wonder how many drivers make it through when their loads are full and then just assume they can make it back under after the delivery?
Or how many see other trucks make it through, not taking into account the difference between a 19" tire and a 22" tire. Or even if those tires are fully inflated.
It is a one way street. How many trips back from dropping a load take the same one way street in the same direction?
It's 99% rentals.
Won’t be like that with most, if they are running air suspension it should always be the same height.
@@justalurker66 depends on the configuration of the road
Driver's lucky all he got was a scrape and a rumble. If it was 2019 that roof would've been history.
Boss: "I want you to take a scraper and get all the bird crap off the roof of the van"
Driver: "I think I know a faster way."
Truck: "Hey can you scratch my back?"
Bridge:
I was just thinking that it's like a bear scratching its back on a tree.
Scratch his belly.
I'm sure Home Depot will be delighted at seeing this

If they lower that beam 1 inch, the entertainment of this channel will increase 10 times.
Just leave the sign broke.
I think they may have ... :)
Put a speed bump right before it to catch some air.
@@11foot8plus8 Good. Now admit it you sabotaged the warning sign and reprogrammed the traffic light to increase viewership! Good move BTW we need more ingenuity!
Rotate the beam 90 degrees. Use the I beam edge for that smooth shave and roof curl!
I know that each one of these represents a lot of emotional pain and stress for the drivers, but I can't help but grin every time they pop into my feed!
Thank you for thinking of the drivers. The rental trucks are insured and the people who rent them will survive it, but those who drive these trucks for a living are likely losing their jobs over it, and that's stressful for anyone.
The locals probably chuckle every time they hear metal smashing.
@@swistedfilms yeah but if you don't follow the rules you're gonna get CAN OPENED

Lowe’s Driver to Boss: “Wasn’t it always like that?”
Boss to (former) Lowes driver: Ah........ no. Looks you got some explaining to do.
I'd put money down that the driver didn't mention this little incident when he returned to the store later!
The slow crawl of "I just got fired" right after, just coasting and letting it sink in

Wicked ouch ha
I would just park it and act like nothing happened

Maybe that's why Lowes has higher prices to help pay for things such as what's seen in this video. 😆
*in an old man's voice* "Oh son back in my day this would have been a full destruction peel. Oh the carnage"
Recent increase in incidents probably coincides with the warning panel going bad, which probably tells us that it worked pretty well in the past, preventing incidents.
Yeah. I had been noticing the last few crashes that the panel was not activating, but I hadn't put it together that the panel being broken might be contributing to the recent rash of crashes. Good connection.
I guess these are people that know how to read
@@texasandroid1352 - I pointed this out in previous videos, and accordingly its been fixed. Thing is, it still didnt warn that guy which means that they need to lower it by an inch so it makes them think twice. However, I question the road condition where the laser sensor is. The road under the bridge is raised in the middle, so is the bar curved. You see that from the side angle, its raised in the middle like that so the water drains since the road dips to go under the bridge, its to help with drainage. However, that doesnt help when it comes to that sensor not picking up the height of trucks on approach and its time they fixed that. I also dont think many drivers actually look up to that sign even if it is flashing because they dont think it applies to them. They need to also have a swing bar across the street, or even chains, which will make a sound if they hit the top of a truck. We have such here in Australia, mostly chains, which you do notice if you hit them.
@@Ryanthusar
The last few videos have been more like scrapes than crashes.
Even if someone DID know their height, they still might think they could fit VERY snuggly, only to find out they're wrong.
I'd almost say they raised the bridge an inch too much, leading to all these edge cases 😆
The pole holding the light beam was hit and misaligned the equipment. Repairs have been made
Ah, yes. The highs and Lowe's of the 11'8"+8" bridge.

We all need to write to local officials in this city and ask them to LOWER the bridge. Cite a boosted economy from truck repair, 11'8" tourism, plus the sheer entertainment value...
Or should I say *shear entertainment value...
opportunity cost means the economic boost won’t be real. Just in less productive areas...
though... more views for the channel could translate to more revenue for the the people running the channel...
This bridge should be on the driver test route lol. Pass/fail would be so easy.
Granted that most driver tests are done using the teachers' vehicles, I don't think they would be keen on that.
There should be a broom and dustpan hanging on the wall nearby to clean up the debris.
And dumpster for all the scrap metal. Lol.
I really want to thank all these drivers, this wouldn't all be possible without them, we need some kind of appreciation day

Im surprised how a sign turned off just made this channel super active
Looks like they'll have to repaint that crash beam sooner than they were expecting.
maybe they should add kill markers, like they do to combat aircraft?
Lowes: "Just a little bit off the top"
Bridge: "Say no more"
You can't blame the sign being out of order, you have to know how tall your truck is!
True, how many times was it flashing away and still they whaled it.
you're supposed to read the yellow caution signs also. TWO SIGNS! That yellow, iron beam across the bottom of the bridge deck, surely isn't a Christmas decoration. Maybe the guy didn't even see the bridge there.
Not only does that driver know exactly how high his truck is, he now knows it's a half inch Lower than is used to be.
Perhaps the trucks should start being equipped with low bridge sensors.
You would be amazed at how elusive this information can be. I know, it's not that hard to find out, right? But you'll see the clearance height labeled on a lot of trucks. But it's pretty rare to see them on these box trucks. Next time you're around a rental truck yard ask one of the employees what the truck clearance height is and see if they know. If they know then they probably have a story about one of them hitting a bridge. If they don't know then they're probably out here in the western US where low clearances are rare.
Look how confidently he just fly along.
Well, now he knows his truck is 12' 8.5" tall
11' 8" plus 8" is 12' 4", 12' 8.5" would have seen the top peeled off and major damage to the truck instead of a scraping.
There is a 12 foot bridge near my house. I should set up a camera.

The light and sign are two different things. The light is just a traffic light that you see at other intersections. The sign is controlled by a sensor that measures the height of the trucks.
This never gets old!
You gotta love this bridge!!! No sign= hours of comedic enjoyment!
Even with it raised 8", you can't fix stupid.
There are places in New York State where bridges are marked by "Snow Height." They take the actual clearance of the bridge and subtract a foot, scares the crap out of people.
I drove for Lowe's for five or six years, and I am so glad that none of the guys I worked with were that stupid.
I wonder if the local delivery companies have to forgive accidents. If not I imagine driver turnover is comical
You'd be stupid if you just forgived a accident like that
Even with the sign not working there is a clearly marked bridge height sign on each side
And semi trucks have a height label on the trailer you can see in the side view mirror and box trucks have a height label on the dash
If my employe tried to blame the accident on the light up sign being broken be fired so fast
If they took responsibility and admitted it was their error and the damage to the truck was lite like here maybe even if they totaled it depending on their attitude I would forgive them
