  • Day in the life of a plumber
    In todays video I move a boiler from a kitchen into the airing cupboard upstairs. The pipework was a mess on this so I did my best to tidy it all up. I show you the full job and all my thought along the way.
    As always, thanks so much for watching, all the support is so greatly appreciated

    Brilliant vid as always mate, you just don't get this amount of varied content on one job from any other youtuber. The story about the "plumbers", made me chuckle mate but just no comment. When I became a sparky (it was different back then) I was mostly self taught and as I had a background in electronics it came really easy to me. I had to go on the odd course to qualify for certain jobs but my work was always passed and approved across the country. However, I often worked next to newly qualified electricians who just didn't seem to know what they were doing. I see the same with some of the more well known names who do vids on here. I don't mean to sound derogatory but they do often try to take on a God like status. You're just so modest mate about the work you do. Oh I loved the hammer on the pump though, we call it the Brummie screwdriver here in the Midlands and it solves all. Have a good weekend mate, it's already warming up here in Sandwell so It's time for the bar to open.

    • @PlumbLikeTom
      @PlumbLikeTom  Месяц назад +3

      So I work out roughly what I think I need and get a supplier price on those items, I always add a percentage on as you always miss bits and the small bits soon add up quickly. At the end of the job I always look at where it stands, so next time when you price a similar job you know if you need more time or materials. It is experience but you quickly learn to look carefully and get a good feeling at to where to price a job. Thanks for the support mate 👍

    Hi mate have you ever seen quarter inch steel pipe. Was in a loft yesterday and saw that. It definitely wasn’t stainless.
    Was like 15mm external bore galv pipe?

      I've seen it in commercial environments, it will have likely been galvanised carbon steel pipe, galvanised was used for drinking water where as standard black iron was used for heating. Thanks for watching Gavin

      Seen it piped off the top of air bottles on large heating systems , halls of residence , hospitals etc. It would come off the top of the air bottle or AAVs and drop below ceiling level with a manual air vent.

    Must have been a builder or DIYer who did all the pipework on the heating and hot and cold. Lousy job all round . Unfortunate that you can't see all these things when you price the jobs.

      Thanks for the support as always mate, it certainly did look at bit DIY, like you say when you look at jobs you don't see all the problems, you just have to deal with them when you find them
