I can enjoy a good blended scotch with a mixer (like soda) but only a quality blend like J&B with a finger of club soda - very refreshing!
But my favorite is three fingers of single malt with an ice cube. Any good single malt works for me. (A true single malt educated - but willing to learn!
Drink as you wish and comfortable, that's the best way , cheers to good health folks
Cheers, brother. Thanks. 😁👍🥃
Loved the video! It explained most things a begginer must know about scotch! I'm more of the bourbon guy but I started whisky on scotch brands! Definetly awesome! Keep up with the information, really helps!
I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw the Lagavulin in the frame next to the Balvenie when he was talking about starting with Speyside because they’re softer and fruitier. I can just picture some poor soul swearing off Scotch forever after a sip of Lagavulin, the “light, fruity scotch”😂. Good video!
Imagine giving a Beginer Laphroiag 10 or Ardbeg 10.. He wont take a Sip of Whisky ever again
Definitely terrible product placement
First bottle I ever bought was Johnnie Walker Double Black.
Amazing
the old black label is good as well. Double black is for sure a bit better
Good choice
For all you sissies newbies out there (and bourbon people), try taking in smaller sips of neat scotch and you will be fine....Patience is key with scotch to truly appreciate the flavor profiles....no ice, no water no nonsense
Agreed. A Glenlivet or Glenfiddich 12 should be fine for newbies to sip at first.
And chakna needed?
It's an acquired taste...and BOY did I acquire it!!!
Nice one
Michael Smith lol. As I !!!
I am living proof of this also
@@NylonStrings83 What? No it isn't
Even at a young age. most of the uninformed peole never realized that they already acquired the taste even before they got into drinking Single Malt whisky. For instance. most of the people from Europe or America. it's sometimes used in breads. As for an Asian like myself. I grew up drinking MILO which is a very popular drink and readily available in every store at every street. I can say that my mom is the culprit for my fondness of this revered spirit. I love her and also I can blame her for that. :)
My grandfather drank this stuff every day, sometimes way too much. I never understood how he could still wake up at sunrise. I was familiar with beer hangovers 🤮 I now know that good whiskey, of any kind, won't give one a hangover as all the methanol is removed.
Thanks! great information here.
Some of my faves:
1. Hibiki
2. Oban
3. Lagavulin
love it thank you Sir
Also keep in mind to use the right glass if you want to go for the full experience. Rock glasses (used in this video) are fine if you just want to sip non chalantly without paying too much attention to what's in the glass. But if you would like to bring out the smells and flavours that are packed in the whiskey, best to use a nosing glass.
Or wake up with a bit of Ardberg in a coffee mug 😅
I bought the Black Label Scotch Yesterday and I should have watched this first. I took a full Shot and it lit my Throat on fire lol but the taste wasn't bad.
"Taking a shot" is why many folks hate Tequila. Sipping Tequila taught me much more about how to drink it and all other liquors. Sipping Scotch now. I've got my Tequila's sorted.
I have a bottle of Talisker , hand delivered .I need to practice drinking this .
The right way, any way you like it. It’s your drink no one else’s.
is it okay to store whiskey in a kitchen cardboard out of direct sunlight but through the year out winter gos to about 0c like most/some winters around the world and summers is about 30c to 40c that depends on where in the country I'm living in I know that exposed over time that to much oxygen can put of the taste will the whiskey be affected by the differance in temperture.
OMG what sacrilege an Aussie lecture on drinking Scotch Whiskey!!🤣
Definite nose to bottle contact observed. Step 1 - don't drink at that bar LOL😂
I like to make "Scottish Beer": 1. Beer mug 2. Four ice cubes 3. Two oz. single malt (Umm, Say Glenlivet) 4. Six oz. Branch. Yum!
Glenfiddich 12 years is my favourite
I started with John Barr and didn't get anything out of it. Got Johnnie Walker Red and got taught a valuable lesson. Lol
Background music is too loud to hear your voice gentle man. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I prefer to just pour it into my favorite glass and enjoy it. Chances are, I'm going to repeat the process, probably with a different one. And again. Until I feel I've had enough. Or my wife does!
Straight from D bottle. No glasses, no washing. Cheers!
Agreed, great info and video
Shit info.
My favourite glenfiddich 12years
Very nice
Nice video
The good thing about Scotch Whisky is that it's great.
You would primarily put a tear drop or two of water and you would use a "snifter glass" rather than that tumbler he is using.
Tumblers are a fine substitute. Snifters allow more nosing qualities, not always needed
Nice bg music.
Neat, neat, neat!
"Synthetic Scotch, synthetic Commanders." - Scotty in "Relics" (TNG)
love this man. though a bit showy bot love the way he is making face
The whiskey stays fresh for a hundred years after opening. Like the fella drinking it.
There is a right way to ‘taste’ scotch, however, the right way to ‘drink’ and enjoy scotch (any scotch) is however an individual chooses to. Silly pretense.
There's always one
This is the truth and one every distillery I've been to agrees with.
Please use a Glencairn glass for best smell and taste of your whisky ...
Never would’ve imagined he would add water!
Thanks
I like "the sting"
Buenas whisky y Vinos ☕
Yummy.
I drink it out of the bottle with a straw 😁
How an infant suckles mother’s ...
I pour mine on the table and then slurp it with my lips.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I died a little on the inside when I saw him put that poor laphroaig in a mixer...
I thought the same, he says ice is no good for the perseverence of the taste, but uses that Laphroaig to do a cocktail 🤦🏻♂️
Is it legal to sniff the bottle post-Covid-19 and serve to customers?
Glencairn glass, 2 fingers, pour and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Swirl, sniff a few times, sip. Neat only for me, but it’s really up to you and don’t let anyone tell you how to drink your bottle that you paid for.
The way you drink scotch the "Right way." Is to drink it anyway you'd like
"How To Drink Scotch The Right Way" --> drinks whisky from a tumbler ...
Shirosen The Glencairn glass is a VERY recent innovation. Scots have been drinking Scotch out of tumblers for hundreds of years.
Just saw the vid and thought exactly the same
Transfer it inside the flask and drink it at the bayside alone
I've never been a fan of The Glencairn glass. I've always been turned off by how it concentrates the alcohol heat up into your nose. I much prefer a solid, thick rocks glass with a wide open top.
@@darbyheavey406 This. It is odd to me the tumbler suddenly wears this stigma as only being useful as a cocktail glass after having been used for whisky since the 17th century. The Glencairn came about in 2001.
The way you like to drink it!
Thumbs up for u smarty
I want try drink scout.......🤔😋😋😋
Nice
Sunday morning turn on the football game pop open a bottle of Glenlivet and just drink it from the bottle until empty
Wah Bhai
Great intro to whisky!
Scotch Whiskey from U.K you all must buy
I’m about to open a bottle of lochan ora in 2020, how about them apples 🍎
However you like it is the right way to drink it.
3 to 4 fingers works for me
Into a bucket like your chicken?
This is how you drink whisky. Pour into glass then drink.
Thank you, no one ever told me.
Aye, I'll drink to that, Laddie. All one needs is the bottle, a glass, an' a comfortable chair. Aghh, as if we need lessons!
So thats why I always get there weird looks when I drink whiskey straight from the bottle!
Hoots mon laddie!! ! I canna drink wi'out some haggis on the side
Tomahawk steak
The correct answer to 'what would you like in your whisky sir?' Is 'more'
Exactly Alan, this video is totally Bullshit, Godbless and enjoy single malts.
A single malt no ice no water from bottle to glass and sip and enjoy.
Interesting
Honestly I want to try that but in reality I hope I wouldn't
1.3 mil people - 'interesting' 😆
Came here just for that comment 😂😂
I swore I saw KG label..
It is " KINGSMAN" label?
🤣🤣🤣
Great info, even learned something new. I love the Firerock lounge - best lounge in Whistler!
You omitted to add island malts
They have a completely smokey taste
Islay malts. Cheers.
Hennessy bebbbbehhh !
Is there a right way for drinking water?
Yes
Not in whisky
since trying single malt scotch whiskey's I can't stand the blended ones anymore.they seem far to harsh compared to my favourite, which is Glen Moray Elgin classic.though 15 year old french oak aged Glenlivet is a very nice drop to have as well.and I drink mine straight, definitely no ice or water.
Yeah only if you are a heathen. Or Muslim.
It's whisky not whiskey if it comes from Scotland, and definitely with water as intended.
Same problem here. Although I am in love with Jw Gold reserve. It can beat many single malts out there. So I’m still drinking it neat or with a couple cubes of iced, but besides that one, it’s all single malts for me.
No ice no mixer no water, no poncey glass, just enjoy.
Anyone wanting to know a good all round Scotch you cant go past the Glenmorangie 10yr, great price point and smooth. Then again you cant go wrong with any 10yr single malt I’ve found hah, Slainte Mhath!
My way of drinking.once cap opened, finish it b4 an hour.rule 1.never ever talk infront of me.that rule 2.If you did,buy me another bottle of whiskey.simple
quiet you
Lol 😂..... Wait I’m confused 🤷🏽♂️ @ 0.49 he says add a little water to it so it takes away a little of that strong bite, but then @ 1.03 he says don’t add ice 🧊😂😂😂😂😂😂. Ok
I battle to pour one tot at a time!
I don't care for bourbon whiskey despite living in the land where it is famous and legendary. Scotch on the other hand, is delightful. Perhaps it's my Scottish roots--I know that's where the red beard is from.
There is no wrong way to drink whiskey. Drink it how YOU like and don't let anyone tell you any different, at the same time dont be telling anyone else how they choose to drink it is wrong.
Be prepared get ready
i like Laphroaig.
I find Laphroaig tastes like...
An ashtray with water added and left to ferment
Very well presented.
The age wont change for up to 100 years once the bottle is open? You mean it won't oxidize as more air is introduced into the bottle as you have drams? And here I thought I knew something, guess I was wrong
An acquired taste...40 years ago, a mate poured a brown liquid into a glass (I did not have a history of drinking) and said, "Try this." It was the fastest acquistion of taste in the history of mankind. Beer is an acquired taste, scotch is not.
Favorite is ardbeg uigeadail
0:50 so would it be prudent when refilling a nice liquor bottle kept in offices or home bars to add water to the liquor right then, or not until pouring into a glass? EVERY movie or tv show ALWAYS has the characters in sun office pouring themselves and guest a finger or so from a classy glass bottle into a similar glass. From on an end tabletop or from a desk drawer.
Def an acquired taste, as is wine. And cigarettes, shit that stuff people literally need to force themselves to get used to it, so def a peer pressure of sorts.
How do you whisky?
Often
Yesterday was my first time drinking alcohol and it was a scotch whiskey and it burned can anyone tell me how to properly enjoy whiskey
Maybe try rum or vodka and soda first and work your way up through Canadian whiskey and then Irish whiskey and bourbon and scotch last.
god doesnt exist but a bottle of Glenfiddich does temporarily lol
I only like the really smoky scotches, i hate scotch with no smoke and i dont know why lol
Wanna ask.how can you tell a fake chivas?
The right way is how you best like it.
So drink it room temperature, with a little bit of water added. Okay. Thank you.
Look a left look a right n drink it top to bottom
Nothing like sipping a little gasoline
I didn't add water and i like hard stuff
The 2 best ways to drink scotch..#1 sip it from a glass with a little water...#2 guzzle it straight out of the bottle..!!
Right way Wrong way...just drink the booze and get drunk , BE HAPPY 👈
A very good Scottish friend of mine says drink it how you want to drink it. Usually, the first time around I'll drink a dram neat, then after that it's on the rock(s) and enjoy it! It's my choice, not some snobby whisky "expert."
Have you dropped a bottle
👍👍
