I can enjoy a good blended scotch with a mixer (like soda) but only a quality blend like J&B with a finger of club soda - very refreshing!
But my favorite is three fingers of single malt with an ice cube. Any good single malt works for me. (A true single malt educated - but willing to learn!

I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw the Lagavulin in the frame next to the Balvenie when he was talking about starting with Speyside because they’re softer and fruitier. I can just picture some poor soul swearing off Scotch forever after a sip of Lagavulin, the “light, fruity scotch”😂. Good video!

Even at a young age. most of the uninformed peole never realized that they already acquired the taste even before they got into drinking Single Malt whisky. For instance. most of the people from Europe or America. it's sometimes used in breads. As for an Asian like myself. I grew up drinking MILO which is a very popular drink and readily available in every store at every street. I can say that my mom is the culprit for my fondness of this revered spirit. I love her and also I can blame her for that. :)

My grandfather drank this stuff every day, sometimes way too much. I never understood how he could still wake up at sunrise. I was familiar with beer hangovers 🤮 I now know that good whiskey, of any kind, won't give one a hangover as all the methanol is removed.

Also keep in mind to use the right glass if you want to go for the full experience. Rock glasses (used in this video) are fine if you just want to sip non chalantly without paying too much attention to what's in the glass. But if you would like to bring out the smells and flavours that are packed in the whiskey, best to use a nosing glass.

0:50 so would it be prudent when refilling a nice liquor bottle kept in offices or home bars to add water to the liquor right then, or not until pouring into a glass? EVERY movie or tv show ALWAYS has the characters in sun office pouring themselves and guest a finger or so from a classy glass bottle into a similar glass. From on an end tabletop or from a desk drawer.
Def an acquired taste, as is wine. And cigarettes, shit that stuff people literally need to force themselves to get used to it, so def a peer pressure of sorts.

A very good Scottish friend of mine says drink it how you want to drink it. Usually, the first time around I'll drink a dram neat, then after that it's on the rock(s) and enjoy it! It's my choice, not some snobby whisky "expert."
