With hind-sight, i think they should have kept BF2042 and BF:Portal seperate.

That's exactly what I'm thinking as well. 2042 should have been multiplayer + a single player campaign. Hazard Zone should have been standalone and free to play. And Portal standalone as well, as a hub to remaster some of the best maps and eras of Battlefield.
