Hey Z, thanks a ton for recommending the Lyr 3 with the CV181-Z. I just got my CV181-Z (after almost 3 months of waiting) and holy crap this thing is awesome. It has completely transformed this Lyr 3 amp and my headphones (ZMF classics). I am not a pro audiophile but I can hear so much more detail and the sound stage is freakin huge. And I have only had it plugged in for 20mins or so. Try listening to Khazad-dum or Foundations of stone by Howard shore with that combination. Keep up the good work man.
I have the Lyr 1 with Reflektor '75 Silver Shields and they make my LCD3 & LCDX sing, such a pleasure for my ears. Running with a Bifrost upgraded cables from my Fiio X7 and I just hit the stop button for audio purchase for the last 4 years. If you're going down the path of "tube rolling" I'd suggest you purchase socket savers.

Should i buy this with es9028 dac card OR the idsd signature? Im after warm sound and i know tubes can give that but i also hear the idsd nails that as well.
My dream setup lyr 3 with dac + Vidar. I'd be able to combine my stereo system (Technics SB-CR77) (need to get a sub with low level pass through) and my pc headphones

Lyr 3 and Bifrost 2 = Awesome. No offense buuut.....if i didn't already own a Lyr 3 and know what it sounds like i wouldn't have learned a thing from this video especially with the stock tube. Incidentally, my Lyr 3 came stock with a 6n8s tube which i happen to like. I had to buy the Tung Sol seperately.

Is this one significantly better than the ASGARD? just got the asgard and i like it. but i think its just a little sharp on some of the highs. thinking i should switch to the lyr. Should i do it?
For the Darkvoice tube, did you have any trouble inserting it into the Lyr? Ordered the same tube for my Lyr and I've having a hard time getting it to insert the pins all the way

@@ZReviews That was gen one you saw at the show last year or year before. They held up production to fix the bugs. The sol is now in stock ready to ship.
Mini-review: the mids are not clean by any means, but the low-end has a good rumble and the top end is fine. I am now using the tube as a pre-amp for the ifi iCAN SE, with a single click on the bass boost (mostly for sub-bass) and whew this is real good. Some bass heavy songs need it turned off of course. Mids are still not as clean as they can be, but it does get that tubey syrup and it smoothes out the super-sparkly top-end of this particular iCAN just a hair.
I would be very interested if there was a tier that would allow us to test some gear; lord knows there is a ton of gear I would love to get but I am little hesitant to drop some serious cash and not liking it.
Dude.. can someone tell me how bassy the t20rp's are supposed to be stock (except adding the recommended Shure 1840 pads, that I put on it). Played them on Xduoo XD 05+ and Emotiva basx a-100; and still, unless I EQ strongly, There's not much (which I don't do much, like most audiophiles; but got these for my fun bargain bassy planar pair). PS Schitt is doing some solid things, for a good price.
Would anyone mind describing the differences between the archel 2.5 pro and the sp200 in terms of over all sound quality. Does does geshelli labs compete? Or close but needs another revision to compete with THX. I've been debating the which one to get for a while.
This guy kinda nailed it. The ceo of the company I think said in an interview that they make the Bifrost 2 which is a much higher end DAC which goes for around $700. And he was saying that (paraphrasing) the Bifrost is waaaay better. So if you’re gonna spend money - it’s actually better to spend 3.5x the money. Because if you spend $100-200 on a DAC it’s kinda ... meh.
This is my summary of Z's review: Power for days. Will pretty much drive anything including inefficient planars. Hybrid solid state amp with a tube pre that sounds like whatever tube you have inserted. Best of both worlds.
I use their standalone one and have had no problems with it as it can change to basically any gain requirements both mm and mc, while the modules are stuck at (I think) 42db gain. Assuming its the same build style I like the sound it gives me.
Just a little Question: What do you think about "Dolby Atmos for Headphones"? Do you think it can really expand your listening experience or is it just bad marketing? I mostly do casual gaming and listen to some music.
Dolby Atmos would require the headphones to be true surround sound, and headphones with true surround are rarely good. Not only that, but Atmos requires overhead channels. How overhead channels would work in headphones is beyond me, and I doubt headphones with them exist. Atmos was meant for a surround sound system, meaning speakers.
I got a question for Lyr 3 owners: the sound from my Lyr 3 likes to suddenly cut out during certain parts of songs and movies (normally during bass intense scenes like explosions). When the sound cuts out, i hear a click from the amp itself. The sound then returns after about 20 seconds, indicated by another click. This is a really annoying issue.
