lovE Tokyo Groove Jyoshi. I have been following them since before Rina Hoshino and Mimi joined when Juna and Yuriko left. They are pure awesome. I was not sure how Rina and Mimi would fit in and compare. But IMO I have really fallen in love with both Rina and Mimi. their energy and talent is off the wall. Rina Hoshino on bass came in from a more rock background but she has some serious funk to her bass lines. She came off as shy at first, but is really comfortable there now. She auditioned for LOVEBITES and I was rooting for her. She's got great stage presence and seems to have so much fun when she's paired with Mimi. She also plays with other musicians, often with RIE aka SUZAKA who is a really talented and fun guitarist. I have seen Rina Hoshino also do gigs with Senri Kawaguchi. Juna plays bass in Senri's "The Jazz Avengers" another talented groovy funky group with 4 saxes in front. (my fav tenor Miku) the way the Japanese music scene supports each other, no bs competition stuff, they just enjoy intertwining, making good music, having fun and helping each other achieve their dreams and goals. it's so amazing to me. Mimi on the drums, she's fantastic and is also involved in many other projects including her own solo stuff. I love her voice and her drumming. she's a fireball of energy and so tight in the pocket. so talented. and I think Emi the keyboard player has a lot to do behind the scenes with putting a lot of this all together. she's a fantastic keyboardist, has a great voice also and seems crazy humble as she pushes all these other musicians out to be in the spotlight. I just cannot say enough good about these ladies, and what they bring to the world in terms of music, positive energy and fun. warms the heart of this crazy old man. love these ladies.

I have watched a bunch of performances by Juna over the last year, a couple as a guest with Tokyo Groove Jyoshi, a couple with Jazz Fusion band Muses as well as with The Jazz Avengers. She also has 4 volumes of "Juna’s Session" (and a 5th one will be held at the end of the month), where she plays music with different musicians, mostly in the Jazz realm, but also Funk and I believe the next one will be Blues.
I have also seen her perform on an upright bass in one of those and that sounded good as well. You could see she wasn't as comfortable with it compared to her normal bass, just like when she plays sax, but I am sure she is working on it and kudos to her to be able to perform on those instruments in a live setting.
She also just began a 2-person band called "Addone" with a guitarist where they play blues. They have a channel as well.
As far as Tokyo Groove Jyoshi goes, I like them a lot. The bassist that replaced Juna is very good in her own right and they always seem to have fun on stage.
There is an upcoming show by them and I am still looking forward to it even though I know what to expect after those couple of other shows I have watched.

I have been struggling getting this comment to stick without them removing it.
All the performances I have watched were paid streamed conerts, but I had a feeling it was me mentioning the word "streamed" is what made them removed the post.
I also mentioned the Addone channel though, so it might have been that, it seems to stick now that I removed the name of the channel (even with youtubes new namingscheme).

The shamisen player toured with them before when Juna was the bass player and they had another drummer.

Yeah Love them! An MiMi back 2❣
Cool, also check out Miku Yonezawa who has a new album and collaboration in the works, with several ladies-of-sax and Senri Kawaguchi among others.👌🙏

Juna has been experimenting with a lot of other instruments other than bass recently.

And a lot of different musicstyles. I believe she said she wanted to play more jazz instead of mainly funk and she just started a 2-piece band playing blues called "Addone".

Obviously doing their own thing, and I know that we shouldn’t say that Japanese musicians aped Western ones (the MtH ripping off System of a Down libel), but they do all a debt to 1970s Larry Coryell & the Eleventh House -,the most underrated fusion band in history
