    This is a cool watch. I love how they included all the tech but kept a clean simple design. The bezel and size reminds me of my Grand Seiko SBGP015.

      @sdiver68 2 года назад

      I went back and forth on this vs SBGP015 for several months. Ended up with this mostly due to the striking blue of the dial/bezel. Plus, have my GS 9F base covered with SBGN005.
      All fantastic watches...in the end this fit better into my collection.

    Firstly, thanks so much for reviewing an Astron!! So many ignore this line completely.. I have the Djokovic edition from 2015. My most emotionally (and pricey) valued watch. But I wouldn’t want to fuss with the little pin to operate the functions…

    Neat watch. Have never thought about an Astron before, but this one would work. The smaller size appreciated too.

    Great review. I have the SSJ007 incoming and it will be my grab-and-go watch. I appreciate the tech they are bringing to this line and I feel it's strong competitor for the Grand Seiko quartz models depending on the buyers preference.

    Since nobody acknowledged the piano TNG/TMP Trek theme, thank you!! And yeah, this one appeals to me exactly because of its simplicity over the other Astrons

    I’m wearing my Seiko Astron GPS Solar 8x53-OAVO-2 with Black face rose gold features, it has Ceramics+Titanium and so very light and comfortable to wear. I love this watch for its bling - unlike the minimalist feature watch show today, which I also like.

    The second hand has lash-back and doesn't hit all of the seconds indices. I guess I'm spoiled by the Grand Seiko 9F movement.

    • @Zephyrdaze1819
      @Zephyrdaze1819 2 года назад +2

      Yea and I'm spoiled by my Casio Oceanus which hits indices every time, is solar powered and is accurate at +/- 0 seconds per year. Oh, and it has Zaratsu polishing and is $500. GAME OVER.

    • @kelechinobi3085
      @kelechinobi3085 2 года назад +1

      Oooooh ouch! At 3:15... once seen you can't unsee it. Thats a crying shame cos I was really looking at picking up one of these... Guess I'll have to save up ab extra £500 for a black dial GS SBGX. Spoiled by the 9F movement is so true. I've got the champagne dial 263.
      Edit:
      Oceanus is good too but has backlash and its movement is IMHO not as robust as the 9f. I think Citizen comes close with their chronomaster but at similar prices to GS.

    Nice to see a clean dial solar + GPS watch. I have a couple if Citizen solar ‘atomic’ watches, great accuracy and good perpetual calendar functions. However, they are a real bear to set when you do need to set them, like when traveling. Easy to forget the method of changing simple functions. The finish isn’t to GS standards from what i can see in the macro images, but overall the watch looks good. I’m used to the precise movements of the quartz offerings from GS, so agree I’m spoiled by my SGBN005, but a much different t price point of course. It would be nice to have seen how some of the functions work. Wearing ‘Winter’ SGBA415 today. It’s not quite the season yet, but this is a favorite everyday wear, as I am a real fan of the titanium case and bracelet.

      It is definitely to that standard in person, those things have a ridiculously reflective finish. The dials are not as ornate though.

    Would like to know more about the hand alignment function. Second hand not hitting the marks on a premium quartz watch would drive me nuts. Otherwise, this watch is on the top of my list.

    So it adjusts automatically as soon as I cross to another timezone? Or do I need a pokey tool to push those hidden buttons, which would not be practical.

    • @TheSilence1

      It checks in with a satellite every so often. Or you can do it manually.

      @@TheSilence1 I bought the titanium model with the push buttons. Really like the watch. But if you go to another timezone, you need to push a button and wait for 1-2 minutes to adjust. Winter to summer time I had to adjust manually.
