"Trick or treat." The best one liner of all time. 😳
"Happy Halloween, ya filthy animal."
That kill was awesome great effect!!! Poor pumpkinstein may he rest in peace knowing he was getting an almond joy.
RIP Pumpkinstein!
WTF WAS THAT! The shots! the lighting ! The location, the sound, the ambiance, the VFX ! WOW!! Man I am Jealous WTF! That's the best movie I've seen from you! Congratz I mean it! How did you do the snow at the beginning it felt so real?!! Need a BTS for this one!!
Thanks so much! The snow was just an overlay from here - ruclips.net/video/haD5AhiqqKo/видео.html
I just layered it, changed the scale and added a blur for the snow that looks closer to the camera.
@@LunarlightCinema great job brother!
@@JeanYanb thanks again!
That beheading effect was SO good! Great job!
Thank you!
BRAVO!! imagine a crowd giving you guys a standing ovation as i write this. well done, kids! FANTASTIC work.
Thanks so much! We really appreciate it
Amazing job!
Thanks so much!
That’s the last horror short film after hours of binge watching all movies from the channel... and I had to confess that this one got me instantly. I love everything in it even the cliche and the most surprising, the chocolate ending ha ha ha....
that was really amazing kudos
Thanks so much! Really glad you enjoyed it. And thank you for binge watching all of our short films, we really appreciate the support!
This is perfect. The all-around attention to detail in every facet of this short is why its retro nostalgic atmosphere comes through so clear. This is lost on a lot of filmwork today - they may capture some aspects and particularities but the work overall ends up falling short and feels too much like mimicry. 10/10! Amazing work!!! 👏 🙌
Thank you so much, that truly means a lot!
Milo here from the Discord filmmaking server!
What a fantastic film! In literally every filmmaking department it is simply put, sublime, and utterly convincing. A tremendously professional production that was great fun to watch!
Congrats to all involved. Wonderful stuff!
Thank you so much, it really means a lot! Glad you enjoyed it

For sure man. Tremendous fun. I'm excited to see what you do next.
This was awesome! I loved it!
Thanks so much, man!
Usually kids have a hard time pulling off being badass killers. 😱 But you pulled it off here. Good job!
I enjoy this so much
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Great film. You guys really pay attention to you lighting and cinematography. The decapitation scene was a nice bloody surprise. Keep doing what you're doing.
Thanks so much! We really appreciate it
Hahaha this is sick, visuals were on point and love the editing and overall style. Looks like you had a lot of fun with this. :)
Thank you! It was definitely a lot of fun haha.
Holyyyyy
Lighting - INCREDIBLE
Story - IMMACULATE
Cinematography- OUT OF THIS WORLD.
You guys literally outdid yourselves in this one. Wow. Just wow! I see no flaws, only a new Halloween masterpiece. Well done. Standing ovation.
Thanks so much, man! That really means a lot!
@@LunarlightCinema my pleasure. Definitely the best one by far, and the vfx was incredible with that head slash 👏
@@BuriedHatchetProductions the beheading was definitely my favorite for sure.
Really glad you guys liked it! I was a bit worried about trying the decapitation effect, but thankfully it worked out!
The best Halloween special I could have ever asked for. This was SOOOOOO AMAZING GUYS. I loved the score, the acting, the lighting, the VIBESSSS, the special fx, the costumes, the “Halloween” reference, just all of it. 4:03 when the basket drops was awesome and the kill after it was so sick. Honestly, this is my favorite film you guys have ever put out. This NEEDS to blow up.
Thank you so much, man! We really appreciate all the kind words
I absolutely love the Halloween 🎃 aesthetics of this film. Awesome cinematography.
Thanks so much!
This was awesome! Love your films as always!!!
Thank you! We appreciate it
The timing of editing cuts and sound effects was nicely done. I also really liked the aesthetic cultivated by the props and color/lighting. I really liked the shot at 2:35 (among others) and overall found it to be a really exciting short film to watch!
Thank you so much! We really appreciate it
Wow great work. I really liked it :3
Thank you! Glad you liked it
This is perfect. Shot so well. Love how this looks so much. Wish Halloween were two months long.
Thanks so much! I definitely wish Halloween lasted longer too
Damn, I'm like freaking out about how awesome the effects were in this XD
And the lighting and cinematography were just so on point!
Amazing short my dudes!
Thanks so much, man!
Good job lunarnight cinema I love the short film can’t wait for your next one and I’ll deafinalitly be doing a reaction to this video
Thanks so much, Joey! We really appreciate it.
Awesome
Thank you!
THAT BEHEADING WAS ABSOLUTELY WICKED! Whole short was GORGEOUS as always, those fall colors were beautiful 😍!!!
I don’t know if it was a nod or not, but the ending spoke “Ready Or Not,” which is one of my favorite thrillers. For those of you who haven’t watched the full short, I’d recommend not reading much further than this 🤷♂️
I’ll be honest, I didn’t think justice was going to be served in this flic. But I’m damn sure glad it was. Praise god for almond joy, that’s gotta be my favorite candy tbh. Great job guys, this might top Microwaved 1:00 and 2:00 👀 (this is impossible though, we all know my devoted love to those two films)
Thank you so much, man! The ending was absolutely a nod to Ready or Not. Glad someone caught it!
Very nice! Love the lighting of this film, very professional. Also great editing and sound. In a few years we will see your productions in a cinema near by.
Thank you! We really appreciate it.
Cool! Very professional and scary!
Thank you!
You guys are so talented. I thoroughly enjoyed this short film..Keep them coming. Great job. 👹😈🎃👻🤡

This character is good. We needs full movie with this!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Thanks! Maybe some day. But in the meantime, we are working on a sequel to this, it should be out soon!
This was really great! I loved the filming and the music was awesome as well as the nods to Halloween! Found you on the slasher app earlier which seems to be great fr finding other content creators. I'm really excited to see more from you guys!
Thank you so much! We really appreciate it
Everyone is praising you and it is completely deserved! This was just fantastic!
Thanks so much, man! We really appreciate it!
Awesome! We need a breakdown 🙏
I plan on doing a making of video for it! Unfortunately we didn't take any behind the scenes footage, but I'd still like to do a breakdown of sorts
So well done. I mean, it looked good but JESUS THAT WAS AMAZING. The decapitation holy shit.
Thanks so much!
That was great! So much fun to watch and the effort was amazing...really love the Vincent Price nod!!

Love it! This was great guys!
Thank you! Glad you liked it
Hoping we will get a making of for this👀👀
I'd like to! Unfortunately we don't have any BTS footage, but I can probably do a video just going over how we shot it, and did some of the effects.
it was awesome as always! huge thank you for your content guys!
Thanks so much!
Fantastic. You really captured the atmosphere of Halloween the colours. And that head chopping scene was excellently well executed.
Thanks so much!

The cinematography and lighting looks so good, I enjoyed it alot. Amazing work! :)
Thank you!
Wow. This kicks ass. You guys are on to something here. Keep it up!
Thanks so much!
Awesome job guys. I really enjoyed it. You captured the ambience of Halloween spectacularly with the vintage decorations and the cinematography looked great. Well done.
Thanks so much!
I love this! This managed to make me feel nostalgic while watching something new at the same time! The music and cinematography perfectly captures the look and feel of early '80's slasher films! I felt like a 10-year-old kid watching "Halloween II" and "Friday the 13th, Part III" for the first time again! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much. That really means a lot to us!
Loved this. Great job!!
Thank you!
Good cinematography 👍🏼
Thank you!
This is sick!
Thank you!
This made me want to crawl up under a cozy blanket and chug some Mt dew Voodew. Such an incredibly polished and fun movie. You nailed the shit out of the atmosphere. Those classic decorations and the simplicity of it all. Also a pretty memorable idea for a killer. Loved it!
Thank you so much! We really appreciate the kind words!
That was so awesome
Thank you!
Wow...!! I really liked it.. it has the old horror vibes.. which I LOOOVE the MOST...!! create more..!!
Thanks so much!
I’m a filmmaker and actor myself and I have to say omg this was really good! I loved everything about it from the score, acting, the lighting, special FX’s, the main villain and the costumes. This makes me wanna be apart of any feature films you make. How did you do all those special FX’s? Do you guys have an Instagram page? Amazing work 🎃💯
Thanks so much, man! I'm actually gonna do a "making of" video very soon to explain how we did everything. And we do have Instagram, it's just @lunarlightcinema
Loved it!!!

This was awesome! Really good stuff!
Thank you!
Tell SpongeBob I’m looking for him.
Will do!
Excellent work.
Loved the pace, vfx, sound design, theme, cinematography, tone.
I felt that old nostalgic late 70s/80s horror movie aesthetic feel.
Excellent work again.
Huge thumbs up, highly recommended and I've just subscribed and hit the hell out of that bell for future updates!

Nice production, really liked it 👏😄 That machete kill was awesome, dropping the pumpkin basket slow mo and cool sound effect with it before the hit, great drama!! All the Halloween lights came out very nice with that haze, did you use a fog machine? Well done 👍👍😊
Thanks so much! Yeah, we just used a basic fog machine.
Incredible 👏

Thanks so much! I really wish we could have been there. We're super excited about the Halloween Spirit award!
@@LunarlightCinema Your welcome! I didn't get the chance to see everything but your guys film was definitely the best Halloween related film so you definitely deserved it. How far are you guys from Iowa? I assume a lot of the film makers weren't from around here.
@@KaptainKlassic much appreciated! We're in Rochester, NY.
@@LunarlightCinema Cool! Well good luck with future festivals, ill subscribe and check out more of your guys films.
@@KaptainKlassic Thanks again! I'm definitely going to subscribe and check out your work as well.
Good stuff.
Thank you!
The lighting is so good. Amazing feel of setting a VIBE. Did you use any FX filters? I'd love to have seen this with a mist filter just for that extra gloom. Nonetheless, outstanding short film. You've got a new sub.
Thank you! We did use the Black Pro Mist 1/4
@@LunarlightCinema Great job. Keep em coming!

Great colour grading and atmosphere to the film, looking forward to seeing what's new in Part II. 🎃

Reddit brought me to this because of the third movie. Starting with the first one though.
Nice.

got your channel from action vfx lit brother , really impressed , what about the lights you have used in this film ??
Hey, thanks so much! The lights we used on this were the Neewer 660 and the Andycine AL 360RGB
@@LunarlightCinema thanks brother for helping by using these two lights , didnt u get those noisy thing , when u check it after transferring your footages to pc , or u use multiple lights setup!?
How'd you get that head slash effect? Wow!
Action VFX has a good tutorial on a decapitation effect. Really similar to how we did it!

YES. LOL
I got something going up in a couple weeks. Great work yall!
Can't wait to see it! And thank you!

Thank you! We mainly just use Instagram. It's @lunarlightcinema
@@LunarlightCinema Awesome, I followed you guys!
My comments reproduced from the subreddit r/slasherfilms:
This was amazing! I actually don't often like fan shorts but this one had the best cinematography... some shorts have great concepts but are poorly shot, and this one was just beautiful from start to finish. Lighting, framing... perfect!
Can't fault the gore/effects, either... decapitation was awesomely well done for a presumably low budget. Only thing I'm not a fan of is the mask... it's a little Fallout "Vault Boy" to me, and sort of reminds of the long-forgotten 2001 slasher "Valentine" (awful cherub mask, but decent movie).
Story was great too - so novel to move from Christmas back to Halloween, and how those combine to create echoes of all the major holiday slashers. Loved the Carpenter homages including the musical signatures and the Hazel Falls, NY (Haddonfield, IL) colour and typeface. Radio DJ commentary had echoes of everything from Halloween III to Creepshow and more.
Every RUclips commenter on your video rightly praises the cinematography but not a single one comments on the plot?! It's simple for the runtime, but solidly done. Again, the popcorn-eating while watching classic movies (House on Haunted Hill) is very Halloween. There's something of the Tommy Doyle about your protagonist. The late-stage gun twist was a nice addition: oh James!
Acting is also solid: I especially liked the way the protagonist said "hello" really deeply when he answered the door, but then reverted to his normal voice when addressing Pumpkinstein. I hope that was a conscious choice because it was hilarious! Pumpkinstein himself was adorkable... great natural acting. James was hilariously douchey but saved the day: very Dewey!
"Happy Halloween, you filthy animal" - how has no one on RUclips yet pointed out the Home Alone reference?!
Anyway, the Halloween homages were clear, but there's at least one way you were actually superior to Carpenter's classic: your characters' breath was actually visible in the cold October air, unlike in Haddonfield (filmed in summer, of course). 😂
Thank you so much for the kind words, and taking the time to write such an insightful comment! It truly means a lot to us. And I'm actually glad you mentioned the visible breath. I guess those cold nights of filming were worth it after all! Haha
Were LUT's used to achieve the beautiful colors in this short film?
Yes, I used Triune Digital's Horror LUTs! We used RGB lights on set as well, so it was the combination of the two that helped us achieve this look.
@@LunarlightCinema Wonderful! Are the LUT's free for commercial use or do they have a price.
They have 2 different Horror LUT packs that are $40 each. I highly recommend them! But if you're looking for free LUTs, we have a video on our channel with some free horror LUTs that I made. I'm working on a second set of them as well!
@@LunarlightCinema Awesome! I'll take a look!
Would you recommend the bmpcc 4K?
Definitely! I really love it.
Good job! Maybe there should be some more screaming in it. Otherwise, great job!
Thank you! We appreciate the feedback.
Good videos you're making the are great i love it nice to meet to meet you i am will frisk
LOVED 4:06
Thank you! 🎃
When are you going to make another video?
Soon!
Out of curiosity, how big is your crew?
Basically everyone you see on screen is also the crew haha. Whoever isn't in a certain shot will take over the camera and/or mic. The only exception is the opening scene, we had one extra person there to help.
@@LunarlightCinema that's what I was afraid you were gonna say. No idea how you're pulling this off. Very impressive. Well done.
@@GhoulishExpeditions thank you! I really appreciate it
