You have chosen everything beautifully, and of course, there are so many more beautiful ones that you need to try. You should also go south of Belgrade, to western Serbia, to see some more local dishes. I'm sure you would love it! I salute you and wish you all the best! Good luck!👍👌😀

    Fish Paprikas is best made in Sombor, Apatin, Bezdan, for me Bezdan is best at "carda Pikec" and "carda sebesfok" its only real paprikas its only carp,dried paprika,water,onion and thats it mostly, the finesse is in the special type of wood used that gives it recognizible flavor, its actually a Hungarian dish and its also served in those parts of hungary that border Serbia near Sombor

      Pihtija is basically collagen. In 5 years when people realize that it repairs cartilage and keeps you wrinkle free it will be the coolest thing ever.
      I use organic bone broth (Whole Foods) that cost for 30$ per liter. It has been consumed in the Balkans for centuries for a fraction of the cost!

  • @almightytrollgod
    @almightytrollgod Год назад +2

    There are more foods you missed: Punjene Paprike (stuffed peppers with minced meat and rice with tomato soup around it), pasulj corba (a bean soup with browned flour + garlic and it has some diferent smoked meat or sausages inside) or pasulj prebranac (sauted beans, mostly come with some roasted ribs), cvarci (a fried, smoked cubes from pork belly fat), a condiment named ajvar (a sweat and spicy chilly type condiment that you can spread on the bread or eat with any meat dish). Next two are not really a Serbian dishes, but we eat the here like they are: Gulash and Paprikash (both are Hungarian National Dishes). Those two are primarily eaten in northern part of Serbia called Vojvodina, cause it was part of Hungary once, we just kept the traditions. The "Fish Paprikash" you ate is actually a Riblja Corba (fish soup). Real Paprikash is made with beef and peppers and onions, and you saute it with tomato juice or passata and you can add grinned chilly peppers for spiciness. Also I do not know if this is Serbian or Hungarian, I am too lazy to research it, there is djuvech (a sauteed peppers and tomatoes with rice), which is one of my favorite dishes.
    If I forgot something, my fellow Serbs help me out. Next time you come back, try these dishes. You are gonna be VERY VERY satisfied!

      U Beogradu i okolini se nalazi najbolja hrana u Srbiji. Naravno, za specijalitete kao sto je komplet lepinja trebas da ides odakle su ponikli. Riblja corba jeste bolja u cardama, medjutim veoma kompetentna riblja corba se moze naci i u Bgu. Pljeskavica kod Bibca u Leskovcu je najbolja u Srbiji, ali isto tako skroz dobra pljeskavica se jede i u Bg-u. Ako hoces odlicnu hranu ima je u bgu :).

    Thank you so much for your kind words. Verity of the food you tried it’s originating from all over the balkans. Obviously Serbia, but also, Bosnia, Croatia, Macedonia, Greece etc. long long time of carting it with our BABAS and DEDAS ;)) food in general is thank god still good and organic here, we really have great cooks and service. Ex Yugoslavia was all about hedonism when it comes to hoteliering, restorants, having a good time, enjoying people, food and friends! I’m so happy that you had great time. ❤
    I suggest also visiting beautiful south Serbia Nis & Novi Pazar, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Croatia, Macedonia! They also have really really good meat and recipes slightly different from ours, but also very good in its on way! Amazing and beautiful land people! Enjoy friend. 😊

      We were all once brothers and the very least we can do is respect that we once lived and shared the same experiences and grew up celebrating and eating the same. Yes we all have some slight differences, but we can still bf respectful to others and still prefer or love our own country food that we grew up eating 😊 god bless you!!!

    I never liked pihtije, but one day as a teenager in late 80's I returned home from a party around 3am super hungry. My parents were away for a week, the fridge was depleted, and the last thing remaining was pihtije. Oh boy how tasty was that at 3am :) Regardless I still don't like it. Some of those meals are seasonal, eg pihtije, sarma, pecenje are best to have in winter due to high calories.. How much kgs did you gain?

      They are not the same. Turkish kajmak and Serbian are so different. Don't know how they're collecting theirs, but it's closer to some Greek yoghurt, then our, fat kajmak. When you crave home kajmak over there, there's no place to get it. Sarma, burek, baklava is aslo prepared differently. From all that, only names are left. Bosnia, probably, stayed more true to original Turkish recipes. Serbs love more juicy meat, that has to have some pork in it to make it fatter, and only beef ones can be found in Bosnia. Also taste good, but mixed with pork tastes juicier. Same goes for burek. In Bosnia they are strict with Turkish recipes.
