    This tutorial aims to teach a way of saving the map canvas (layer composition) of the QGIS in the format GEOTIFF. This format is usefull because the image contains georreferencing informations within the file.

    would this export the image with its overlaying data?
    I have a georeferenced image. I need to add data to that same image. I already have the data overlaying the image in QGIS.
    I'm looking for a way to export just the image with all the data in it. I'm trying to be more professional and avoid using the computer's snipping tool.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Sure. You can export any image (with several layers) that appears on the QGIS map (canvas).
      If you use QGIS3, you can export the same area with different resolutions (dpi - dot per inch).
      Also something really cool is exporting the 3D view, as shown in the video below:

    Thanks for the video. Super helpful. I want to download Satellite imagery at high resolution (scale 1:500) but for the entire city. Using this method (save as image), it saves only current extent. How do save the image at scale (1:500) for entire city? Thanks!

      You're welcome! For download of a large image (e.g. a city), you should use the SAS Planet. This link explains how: ruclips.net/user/edit?o=U&video_id=9H6gWLQz2I0

    Is the final tiff now in its respective layers? or flat?

    • @geoleandrofranca
      @geoleandrofranca  6 лет назад

      All visible layers are flattened into a geotiff image (RGB).

      How can we achieve layers so we can edit later in either Photoshop (.psd) or better yet in Illustrator (.ai)?

      This video shows one way to save QGIS layers as a raster image format (for example jpeg, png, etc.), but if you need to edit vector layers, you should use the QGIS composer and save the map as SVG format.
