jmantime : You mean the Polizeisonderwagen? Mostly three types in the Weimarer Republik time, and four or five types in West Germany. Now the last type of west german Polizeisonderwagen comes out of use, and new, more civilian looking armoured cars are bought by the german states, especially for the SEK teams (SEK- Sonder Einsatz Kommando). Also the term Polizeisonderwagen is no more allowed to be used for the curent armoured vehicles.
The was no west germany between 1922 and 1945 at least not politically and the Weimar Republic has had some more as the 3 types you mentioned . When I recall right there were: Faun, Normag, Mercedes, Austro Daimler, Opel (Mannschaftswagen), Auto Union, Ford(Cologne) and from some smaller companies which built special chassis and suoerstructures like Kaessboher and Kaelble.
I'm also working on a video on German police armored cars of 1919 - 1945.
