Sometimes when young musicians play technically « perfect » pieces it can feel so artificial and lifeless. This piece the way she plays it is so flawed and yet full of life, experience, sorrow: it’s imperfections are of time. I love it!
Attention: tiffy What do you mean by "flawed???" See if you will live to a century years old and even have her memory. You are FLAWED, tiffy. ABSOLUTELY NO RESPECT from you.
Mei Leng I'm sorry you have no right here to berate Tiffany. She has every right to her opinions which I don't think there was anything negative except for the word 'flawed'.when you took it out of context

What’s so remarkable is that ppl forget that elders have been there, done that, and have the answers to many things, and all u have to do is ask a wise old person about anything, about life, and their answer will be far better than ur friends or family simply because they have seen more than the rest of us.
@@elizabethcollins1313 And the elders give u an answer in 5 min. that is so satisfying, but ppl prefer to pay an analyst stranger $100 for an hour of vacant information. I love talking to wise elders. It’s baffling that so many don’t realize they r there for us for a reason.
AMAZING and priceless! A great inspiration for anyone who thinks they're too old to stop enjoying life and do what they love. Thank you for sharing! 😊❤️

Thank you, thank you so much for this lovely performance, dear Madame Thai Thi Lien, I feel so much blessed to hear it. I bow my head before your loveliness of soul and immense beauty of your playing of Chopin Mazurka, that is felt in every single note which the grand piano sings with you in such deep tenderness.
I had the great pleasure to be at and hear Mieczyslaw Horszowski’s recital at Town Hall at age 100 and converse with him back stage about his recording of Brahms Horn Trio, Op. 40 with my Horn teacher, John Barrows.
mocmus mocmus Amen. I’ve always thought the piano had the toughest part, followed by the violin. The horn part isn’t easy, but compared to it’s partners, it’s the least difficult. Mr. Horszowski was exquisite as is shown by his contemporaneous recordings.
Well, Avrum Golub, being tone deaf myself I actually find piano the easier, with its pre-tuned notes that I can play from sheet music (I learned at school), I took violin lessons just a few years ago and only managed that with note markers on the frets and bowing notes on the sheet music though my family had professional solo violinists. Anything wind was beyond me.
A lot of solipsistic people in the comments section talking about how old they are and how they’ve just started playing or they’ve been playing for x number of years. Guess what? This video is not about YOU! It’s about a 100 year old woman playing Chopin as well as she can for an audience completely from memory.
Neil Cowan Rubbish! Fingers can't do a damn thing without mind. There is no such thing as muscle memory - just memory, and it's located in the brain. Also, what makes you assume her mind isn't razor sharp?
Mike Williams because she had some memory lapses and stumbles. It can occur in any age group. My concert pianist friend Steven Gordon had memory lapses and took beta blockers. I am 78 and wish I played anywhere as well as she does. My mind and fingers have forgot. Not enough practice!
Absolutely beautiful. This woman is amazing. When I was a young girl I'd sit at the piano for hours. I'd go with my friends to their piano lessons and sit and watch them learn. (I learned the notes from our once a week music classes at school.) One day my Dad, God rest his soul, asked if I'd like to take lessons. I being an active busy teen at the time turned it down because I wanted to practice when I wanted too, not because I must. I have kicked myself over and over again for my STUPIDITY. If I had to do it over I'd jump at that offer without a second thought. I seriously doubt that I'd ever reach this Beautiful Lady's level but I'd be far better than I am now. WOW what a performance. My love and respect to her wherever she is today, and thank you for such magic. God must be so happy and proud that she did not throw it away. 😊

She is Madame Thai Thi Lien - one of the first person who build up Vietnam National Academy of Music. And she is Dang Thai Son’s Mother too
Lovely!
Thank you!
Dang Thai Son is walking her to the piano at the beginning of the video.
is she Vietnamese?
@@gailland8681 yes
We have the record of Dang Thai Son from 1980 Chopin Competition ( Muza SX 2095)
It's amazing she can even play at all when she could barely walk, and couldn't even sit down by herself. Chopin til the end! I certainly want to hear him up to my final days...wish I could play him myself as good as her! I have to settle for listening to others...
Bravo. And all her friends have passed, save for one... Chopin.
Beautifully said.
so very true
Daaaaammmmmnnnn

That is the beauty of music and art. When you are no longer able to play sports, you always have these gifts! More power to you all who have started music lessons later in life. It is never to late!!!! ❤️
Never underestimate what a person has done in their life and is still capable of doing. Bravo! 💐
Yes.This gives me hope. Before my late husband was convincing me to learn to play the piano. He does and so all our four kids. Now I am encouraged to learn. She is is inspiring.
Fantastic . A most memorable event for anyone viewing it. Complete admiration for the organizer. Salute to the 100 year old musician
Sometimes when young musicians play technically « perfect » pieces it can feel so artificial and lifeless. This piece the way she plays it is so flawed and yet full of life, experience, sorrow: it’s imperfections are of time. I love it!
Good madam, you're still active in your age, thumbs up
Not imperfection, perfection from her heart and soul! Beautiful music from a beautiful Lady. God bless!🙏🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Something about your comment was so sweet, yet so funny.
Attention: tiffy
What do you mean by "flawed???"
See if you will live to a century years old and even have her memory.
You are FLAWED, tiffy.
ABSOLUTELY NO RESPECT from you.
Mei Leng I'm sorry you have no right here to berate Tiffany. She has every right to her opinions which I don't think there was anything negative except for the word 'flawed'.when you took it out of context
This video made me feel so much. What a celebration of not only the music but her life work and love. What a beautiful special rendition of this piece. I hope I can play like that when I’m 100
What’s so remarkable is that ppl forget that elders have been there, done that, and have the answers to many things, and all u have to do is ask a wise old person about anything, about life, and their answer will be far better than ur friends or family simply because they have seen more than the rest of us.
The world full of ignorance
@@elizabethcollins1313
And the elders give u an answer in 5 min. that is so satisfying, but ppl prefer to pay an analyst stranger $100 for an hour of vacant information. I love talking to wise elders. It’s baffling that so many don’t realize they r there for us for a reason.
Our old people are an encyclopedia of wisdom and knowledge, a pity that we do not pay much attention in our time to this category of geniuses.
How can anyone NOT give this a thumbs up????
Because at least 231 are very jealous!!
John Uscian that is what I was wondering!
280 now!
Because some are thicker than others
@Val O'Brien Perhaps you might like to upload your own performance. By the way, how old are you?
The music she played was well done especially at 100 years but just as important are the feelings the music allows you to experience.
If someone has any doubt on:
What is humanly possible?
What does music do to you?
Show them this!! Inspirational 🙏🏼🙌
OMG… She is incredible. I love her! What a gift.
Wonderful she have a big age. But her mind and fingers are in good condition I love to hear and learn from the elderly People . May God bless her.
And may karma bless you.
Dang Thaison's Chopin's preludes are my favorite. Wow, his mother was also such a great pianist! Very memorable. I hope she'll keep playing!
What you need to be (and remain!) ROMANTIC, in order to perform Frederic Chopin at the age of 100! BRAVO!
How are you doing today my name is Eric Moore
Hats off to this lady. I have been playing the piano since I was four. I am approaching 45 in September.
Truly amazing but also the fact she is doing this without sheet music!! What a wonderful, graceful lady. 😘💕
AMAZING and priceless! A great inspiration for anyone who thinks they're too old to stop enjoying life and do what they love. Thank you for sharing! 😊❤️
Truly amazing. What alacrity and concert presence. Such a way of playing shows a way that is rarely found today outside the presence of Rubinstein and Horowitz.
She's Blessed just to live to be 100 years old.
That's a curse not a blessing.
There are more than 80,000 people over 100 in the U.S.. 1.2 MILLION by the year 2030.

How dare anyone "dislike" this. So wonderful she can still play, and if you want to dis, best check how well you play now, and when you are 100.
How are you doing 😊👋☺️☺️👋
I can see how, by looking at this wonderful video of Mme Thai Thi Lien, it encourages many to look beyond the cruel barriers of age! She is a true icon for many musicians! Mr. Son is so fortunate to have always had such a wonderful mother.
Absolutely incredible! Played as Chopin should be. Brava!
bravo
When I'm 100 I just hope I remember what a piano is and does.
I don't know how old you are, but it's good that you're claiming to live at the age of 100 or maybe older than that!
What an inspiration, I have just started learning to play the accordion again after a nigh on 50-year absence at a mere 74 years of age, and enjoying it tremendously......{;o;}
Phenomenal!! Bravo 👏 I had tears in my eyes before the 1st note .
Фантастика. Замечательно
She plays with such feeling it makes me cry and chills both ! Beautiful
Probably the first time, ever, that I have had the honour to listen to a great musician with the age in 3 digits. Much Honour to Mme Thai Thi Lien, in Vietnam !!!

She began to walk straighter and faster as she heard the applause and saw the people. Amazing what positive affirmation does to one's soul and body.
What a darling senior lady. I have one surviving aunt of 92 who is absolutely amazing and in perfect health for her age! God bless them!! ♥️🌺♥️

Thank you for the share!! To make it to 100 and still be able to jam is an unimaginable accomplishment.
A pure joy to hear her play Chopin. At 77 I still play and enjoy every time that I do. Grateful for all the piano lessons years ago.
How are you doing today my name is Eric
Bravo, Amazing how she remembers the music and the dynamics. Watching from Pasay City, Philippines 🇵🇭.
At first it looked like she was having a problem and also praying. She is so terrific that words cannot describe her.
Amazing that she can still play and remember the notes. What a clarity of mind. I guess she never stop playing the piano.
I had the great pleasure to be at and hear Mieczyslaw Horszowski’s recital at Town Hall at age 100 and converse with him back stage about his recording of Brahms Horn Trio, Op. 40 with my Horn teacher, John Barrows.
Avrum Golub that must have been something. That horn trio is a beast for the pianist!! I’ve played it.
mocmus mocmus Amen.
I started playing at 50 and I thought I was old. Wow so inspiring ❤much love from Miami
A lot of solipsistic people in the comments section talking about how old they are and how they’ve just started playing or they’ve been playing for x number of years. Guess what? This video is not about YOU! It’s about a 100 year old woman playing Chopin as well as she can for an audience completely from memory.
The fingers remember what the mind may not-
yes
Part of the mind remembers everything!Yes muscle memory. The 🖐️fingers just follow the deep commands.
@@mikewilliams258 He is right. Muscle memory is a real thing. Google it.
The only way I'd want to live to 100 is playing the piano as she is. Bravo!
How are you doing today my name is Eric Moore
Music is the most important element to be long life.
Fantastica!La musica rende giovani. Complimenti,l'esecuzione non è perfetta. Ma Chopin sarebbe felice d'ascoltarla.Rita
Helle!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day.. Stay Safe!!
I think the lady is in better shape that the ones “helping” her. Music rides a long lasted trip to the heart.
