For a person of one hundred year old to play with such accuracy and feeling is a magnificent effort. As an 89 year old retired pianist and music teacher I well know all the problems besetting one in old age. Those who gave thumbs down should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

My parents were not well off, but I truly would love to go back to music and learn piano. I did cheat though, with learning music, I wrote the letters instead. 😂

I just started taking piano lessons at 74, I thought I was going to play on my mother's piano which I inherited but at it's first tuning was told the bass bridge had collapsed and it was not fixable so my husband bought me a baby grand on which to learn, as his last gift to me shortly before he passed away.
I have a wonderful encouraging young woman who is very patient with me. I am finding that at times my fingers do not cooperate with my wishes but I would hope to be able to continue to 100 as this amazing lady has done. Things do change in the brain ( I am finding out) and our population is scurged with demensia and Alzheimer's, so one of my many motivations was to ward off further inevitable deterioration. It's a fascinating topic, the brain and learning music. In addition, I am truly very much enjoying it, pretty much a consuming new hobby. And in case anyone is interested I really do see significant changes in my brain.
So sorry to the person whose mother stopped teaching adults, it's rather a disservice, but I do understand it would take a special person to continue teaching someone who doesn't align with the "normal" progress.

mocmus mocmus Amen. I’ve always thought the piano had the toughest part, followed by the violin. The horn part isn’t easy, but compared to it’s partners, it’s the least difficult.

Well, Avrum Golub, being tone deaf myself I actually find piano the easier, with its pre-tuned notes that I can play from sheet music (I learned at school), I took violin lessons just a few years ago and only managed that with note markers on the frets and bowing notes on the sheet music though my family had professional solo violinists. Anything wind was beyond me.

(I learned the notes from our once a week music classes at school.) One day my Dad, God rest his soul, asked if I'd like to take lessons. I being an active busy teen at the time turned it down because I wanted to practice when I wanted too, not because I must. I have kicked myself over and over again for my STUPIDITY. If I had to do it over I'd jump at that offer without a second thought. I seriously doubt that I'd ever reach this Beautiful Lady's level but I'd be far better than I am now. WOW what a performance.
