Would live to heat back from all of you on these Alaskans as many of us need to better understand what you like and maybe what you recommend as we consider buying models in the future. For example I am wondering if a 7 foot Alaskan would be ok for me. Thanks for helping all of us learn from your adventures!!!!
What a great looking rig! We hope you guys get out and enjoy it! Look forward to feedback from you and camper size and mpg, options etc. I was thinking of a 7 foot model with a service body to store camping gear. But yours looks beautiful!!!!! Please keep details coming. Thanks
Thank you! We went on a quick 3-day trip up on some forest service roads and are getting around 10.5 - 11.5 MPG. The truck/camper handled pretty well up some steep inclines. We did have our transmission light come up telling us that the temp was a bit high probably from so many inclines and so many miles of that. We just stopped for a few minutes and the light went off. Our truck is reinforced for a 5th wheel with a 6.4 hemi (gas) so it handles the extra weight pretty good. One night it rained a lot and it was pretty comfortable with 2 adults and 2 Samoyeds. Thanks for the comment!
I love the design of these alaskan campers. But being on the east coast, they are hard to come by. And any that I have come across were either out of my price range, or were in too rough a condition for me to justify getting them. So I built my own version. Yours is a real beauty!
@@kandlsilis4539 Thank you, Here is a link to a slideshow of the build, I also have several videos of the camper on my channel. ruclips.net/video/oDiAKaJc1IA/видео.html
It looks like the widows to the truck cab slide open? I would like to install a slide open rear widow on a F150 to be able to pass from the truck cab to the camper without having to exit the truck. Dunno' if that's possible tho.
Sorry that we missed your comment. Yes the windows do open to the cab and the cab of the truck has windows that open. A pass through would be great especially in the rainy season. I am sure it can be done but not sure who or how. Thank you for the comment.
It looks great! Wife and I drove from Florida to Washington to pickup our new 2017 8.5' Cab-Over and we love it. Best of travels
Congratulations! Take care.

That is my dream camper.
Sending good thoughts that you will get your dream soon!
Looks fantastic!! Is there a way to rent first to determine if I can handle the technical aspect of a pop-up camper.
Not that I know of. The best thing to do is to join Alaskan Camper Facebook sites. You may be able to find a rental there. Thank you!

How much does it cost?
The base price for an 8.5 foot cabover is $35,990.00. You can find more information on alaskancampers.com. Thanks.
