Top 1% console will lose to top 95% PC, it's genuinely impressive. Praise Allah for no comp crossplay or whoever got the most console players would lose before even hero select.
@@LoveKasumin1253 console is a lot more playable in rivals than overwatch, the game is a lot more awareness and game sense-based rather than raw aim. There's a reason why there were MULTIPLE console players in the last few teams in the Last big tournament. Yall pc players are so quick to try to act like you're better but I'm gm 2 and would probably wipe the floor with you!
I went from plat 3 to gold 3 for swapping and trying other characters :/ now i went back to peni and im in gold 1, games algorithm is weird @Michael-i7t6p
@@Xiatter i can understand that, however that is the risk of solo. I do understand the struggle. I typically run with a stack, when I solo I get the short bus riders.
it’s so odd in diamond i get people with a 75 percent win rate they got to diamond but they were awful i put them on my avoid list and farmed them for wins:
@noahrapalo1893 there a difference between a diamond MR player and a diamond MR and historically diamond OW as well. The previous hero shooter experience transfer well and those players tend to be better than the new MR players without it. Same issue happened with ow2 just came out. It evens out over time. Or maybe that person just hit their peak and hasn't played enough to even out
Part of it is the change of bans that everyone needs to adjust to. S0 was consistently: Hela, Hawkeye, Luna, Banner. Now S1 is so mixed that you need to pick appropriately and consider your team much more. But S1 is a mix of: Banner, Storm, Wolverine, Hela, CnD, Namor, Moon Knight/Groot, Luna. And people don't ban Hawkeye anymore. A good Hawkeye will still run the lobby like crazy.
Tbh, I look at the percentile of the playerbase this season rather than rank when comparing it to my games from last season... When I reached gm3 around the end of last season, I saw that it's at around 98% percent. But when I reached dia3 and dia1 this season, it's at around 99.7 and 99.4 percent respectively. This means, technically I reached a 'higher rank' this season than last season since I was playing against the top .3-.6% this season in dia rather than 'just' the 1-2% in low gm. Heck, I just reached gm3 the other day, and the percent it showed me was at 99.4% meaning that when I reached dia3 earlier this same season, I technically reached a 'higher rank' since it was at 99.7% when I reached it back then despite being technically a 'lower rank' than gm3.
Yeah he made that mistake a lot in this video. It kinda makes his points invalid cause he'll say you're in the top 10% when you're really in the top 30%
One thing not accounted for in this video is, most people are starting at bronze as the game is relatively new, and it is near the beginning of the season, in later seasons when people get reset they will get reset to higher ranks, so presumably there will be a more equal spread in the future. Also as people don’t all have the same amount of spare time, it is likely a lot of diamond and above players are stuck below their level still
for me personally, im doing really well in my games, but im still plat 2. In other games with ranked, i always felt held back by my skill level, not my teammates or free time. This game is definitely harder to grind, since people of all skill levels are in lower ranks than they should be, making some games super easy or really hard ngl. Especially with how much you get set back after the rank reset, 7 divisions is crazy lol
Interesting perspective. It definitely makes me feel a bit better. I’ve peaked Gold 2 both seasons but I’ve been having some rough games recently. I feel like even in Gold games can be wildly inconsistent. Oh well, just going to keep grinding and if I’m good I’ll get higher eventually.
@@issadegen4501 yea cuz the ppl are really stupid unfortunatly. Like everyone tries to do solo plays vs playing as a team. That get a little better in diamond thankfully but ocassionaly you will run into the same issue.
@@issadegen4501that’s how it was in OW, in gold and plat the games were super hard (especially gold) but once you got to diamond games felt way better.
Holy crap, the gold matches are so hard. I breezed through bronze and silver, but I keep getting these insane gold matches where my team argues non-stop or fully throws on purpose. Had someone playing jeff who stood in a corner typing insults all match.
What this data is actually showing is that ranking up is just a matter of grinding, at least up to Plat, and beyond that it mostly likely comes down to who is spending a lot of time grinding while also stacked. In a month, the numbers will be massively higher than they are now.
Have to mention something I'm not seeing any creators mention other than myself: The system just plain isn't good at getting top level people where they should be in a decent timely manner and its causing a massive bottleneck. The chart proves it just as much as the leaderboard analysis (which combines all servers and platforms) does. There's only about 36 One Above Alls (a rank that is literally supposed to be top 500) after almost 3 weeks now since season start. That is FAR too slow because it has a domino effect. Eternity should have several thousand (5-10k minimum) and it has 36? Celestial should have 20-50k and it has 3k (including consoles)? GM Should be damn near if not over 100k and it has MAYBE 15k in it right now. There's undeniably a massive bottleneck at the top. That means those people are crammed down in celestial where they should no longer be which means the ACTUAL celestials are crammed down somewhere in GM right now where they shouldn't be, and then the GMs are crammed down in diamond currently.... you see the problem? Now, below that? Honestly, the ranks have pretty much evened out already so the vast majority of people are where they should be or at least close to it, but anyone diamond+ right now is almost certainly not and its taking FAR TOO LONG for the system to put the obviously best-in-the-world at the best-in-the-world tier so people can get up to where they should be. People play ranked primarily to see that little icon progress up the ladder; if they keep artificially keeping people bottlenecked like this, it can become a problem for the player experience. tl;dr The people at the top who are clearly the best in the world and still are, STILL almost entirely aren't even in eternity much less one above all after 3 long weeks. Its too slow and its causing problems in diamond+ still.
100% agree, I’m mid diamond and almost every match half of each team is S0 GMS and this won’t change until the players who should be top 500 actually push forward and make the games easier. I don’t know if this will ever happen though with the current ranked system as it is so inconsistent that you can go on a 10 game loss streak at any time. I have seen some insanely good players who should easily be top 500 stuck in diamond with a negative winrate and SVP every game. I am console and have never seen anyone above GM 2 anywhere outside leaderboards even in MRC
I wonder if the system was prepared for the massive influx of players from different shooters with varying skill levels. Since everyone starts in bronze, that means bronze is the first rank that those people play. Which makes the worst rank in the game extremely inconsistent, and if the worst rank is like that, then that means every other rank is as well. It's not helped by the still happening flow of new players, which means bronze 3 will keep being flooded by people that should be technically higher, but aren't, because at this point getting out of bronze is kind of a lottery. If it will go like that, the balanced experience of ranks will happen maybe in a year (depending on how harsh the rank falloff would be after each season). Don't know, maybe they should introduce a rank lower than bronze and by default start people on silver 3 instead, so people worse than the current average would fall into their ranks, letting those that can play climb until it will settle down? Or ranks should only apply after like 10 or so games, at which point your mmr would decide where you should be (but that would hurt playing comp in squad)?
I don't see this issue. During rank reset, sure, depending how fast you climb. But realistically it's pretty balanced. S0 gm literally means nothing and seemed to be who invested the most time. Currently d2, was d3 last season and have had 0 issue climbing. Most games have s0 gm's and most are actually trash. Also if you ever watch my gm+ gameplay, it looks like any other gold game. The only difference is aim. Unless we talking about backing characters such as black panther. Then, it could be a bit tricky. But for the most part, it all seems the same to me Pc player btw
But shouldnt one above all be the 500 highest players ranks regardless of rank Like in league, challenger is the first 300 player in master and grand master are the next 300.
I just hit grandmaster III today and now that I should get the end of season reward im going to stop playing competitive similar to how people stopped playing after getting the reward for being in gold.
I solo qued to diamond and honestly the reason so many players are in the lower ranks is because it's their first hero shooter. I played overwatch for 5 years and this game felt almost natural.
I haven't played comp because I don't think I'm good enough to. Comp also adds a lot of pressure to the game for me and I just want to have fun playing by myself or with friends.
You should give it a go! I straight up thought the same but now I’m Diamond 3 solo queue. I get you wanna have fun and that’s okay. Just don’t sell yourself short.
I'd say I'd ne honestly ego boosted by this because I got into Gold 1 yesterday after a week of playing comp, BUT, there's so many genuinely garbage people and toxic mfs that are genuinely worse than silver lobbies that I really believe a large part of gold players being boosted lmao
Also diamond 3 currently, was 2 earlier today but had some bad games! It’s crazy how in overwatch I could never get out of gold/plat because of wildly inconsistent games! Just makes me enjoy rivals that much more than Overwatch every time I play! Hopefully see you in game Sty!
I’m grandmaster 1 but I was a diamond genji main in OW which really confused me, but I really believe it’s a mentality thing, instead of blaming my teammates now I expect them to be bad, it’s up to me to be rookie LeBron and carry my team to the finals, if I don’t then I don’t deserve to win, and the more I accepted that, the less tilted I get queuing for another game
the best coaches will always tell you, you're the only constant in all you're games. If you're not gaming to carry every game (do your best) then don't expect higher rank
It’s not confusing at all. Overwatch currently has a much smaller and more skilled player base than marvel rivals. This is is because it’s been out for 8+ years, and those who have stuck to it have years more hero shooter experience than a lot of the new people that are currently playing rivals. That means that you are competing against less skilled players on average when you equate rank. Gold players on overwatch are more skilled than gold players on marvel rivals and might be high plat level on marvel rivals, for example. I’m interested if anyone might have other insights on why this is so feel free to reply.
You should remove the number of people in bronze 3 not playing competitive or seriously trying to rank up from these statistics if you were really trying to compare yourself. Bronze 3 is a skewed outlier consisting of possibly 100s of thousands of people not participating in the ranking system.
people that never touch comp they count as unranked. People in Bronce 3 did at least play 1 comp match. You can see this if you have a friend in a faction and they haven't played the new season yet. Their rank will be a blank emblem.
@@avocadothecat yeah that's why I added in "seriously trying to rank up" if you try a bit but not seriously, they're just padding the statistic, I don't think it's great data. It sounds like there are a number of players in Bronze that can be solid players but don't take competitive seriously, try it a bit and then stops. He touches on this in the video, I'm just saying the next thing that it's skewing the data. If you're in Silver or w/e and see you're "higher than 60%" but we knew that 40% of players in Bronze 3 the largest population by far, aren't actually trying or fulfilling their potential, then 60% is an inflated number.
true. and what's funny is that, i was top 200 EU in Overwatch (early seasons), and now in Marvel Rivals, im "only" platinum. i can easily go 55/15 K/D, and still lose games, its crazy :D
this game is hella odd tbh, i never really was a competitive player in OW nor did i even play it that much (only about 100 hours in all of OW1 and 2) but with my duo friend I went on a 16 win streak tonight and soared from gold 1 to diamond 3 in a single night, yet getting through silver and gold was absolutely rough and it took us days to climb out of. wondering if we can keep this up through diamond as well but im a bit afraid of having the ban system start rearing its head now lol
The issue is that it's not a skill-based ranking system. If your rank is lower than Plat, the game is actively inflating your rank to try and push it higher. Wins seem to earn 3 times higher points than losses and there are chrono shields to ensure losses don't impact you as negatively. Anyone below plat basically hasn't played enough to qualify for an actual competitive rating.
I play mostly competitive, QP is not even great for learning new heroes, but I go for a few games to try other heroes. I didn't play a lot of MR in December and I was plat 1, now after the reset back to plat 2 in season 2. I am almost at the rank I was in OW2, but since MR is so new I see many mistakes (in myself included of course), so I feel like Plat is like high Silver in OW atm :D All good tho! I love it! I didn't play OW in the first year, so I didn't know what it is to play a hero shooter from the beginning where everyone suck and it's just more fun IMO. More mindlessly fun. I love it so far!
with every player starting at bronze 3 and its essentially just grinding to rank up from the get go its gonna take quite a while for ranks to really level out and for us to start to see proper rank distrobutions
Grinded from Bronze 3 to Grandmasters in a week. It was a lot of fun, but from diamond to GM was very sweaty. I can understand why most people don't want to bother with ranked after Gold 3 for the skin, Quickplay is much more relaxing.
I solo’d all my comp games and I just reached Diamond II today after a week plus of playing a couple rank games a day. It’s crazy bc I would lose some and win some but never get demoted bc I knew when to just call it quits and come back. If I can reach Grandmaster this season I’m fine with never playing ranked until Season 2 idc about Celestial, Eternity and One Above All ranks tbh
Lots of one tricks still in GM, or people who can play only one role to that level and feed on others. I believe that breaking the gap between GM 3 and GM 1 and higher is mainly that. Not only because it is not enough knowing 1 role but also that knowing other roles at a high level helps you understand what you need to do in your main role to outplay high Elo players in other roles.
I like competitive, but only because it keeps certain people out of the rest of the game. It's also easy to tell who the morons are. They always out themselves when they try and use rank to attack you.
the main reason bronze 3 has so many players is due to the stupid rank reset. I finished gold 3 at the end of season 0 and got pushed back to bronze 3. the problem with the reset is that there are new players that didn't play in season 0. They started playing season 1 and are only level 10. I am finally at bronze 1 with 1 win away to getting into silver 3
I'm soloing ranked for the skin and it's actual hell, I missed the moon knight skin last season and I'm hard stuck bouncing between bronze and silver 😫 Solo queuing sucks and its a nightmare
You can get to Grandmaster with a negative winrate if you have the time to play enough games. It's because the game awards you with more rank points for wins than losses up until a certain point. So I don't fully correlate rank with skill level until you're about GM1 or above.
Plat is also a unique rank, and IMO the most stressful, because it’s just the wild west. It’s the only rank where you neither have Chrono shields, nor do you have Hero bans. So, there’s just a bunch of people straight up abusing Metas, and there’s no protection if you lose to that abuse.
Nah. That's a competitive feature that belongs in competitive play. You bring hardcore features into quick play and youll lose a significant amount of casual players as well as push out new players.
Hard agree, it's ridiculous when I play on lower elo accounts. You guys aren't climbing because you're constantly getting support pick diffed, your team gets racoon mantis and they get luna cd and the game is just over. Either add bans or completely rebalance support ults
Why should hero bans be apart of every rank? Most ranks below GM and even in my GM games people don't know how to play the game. Hero bans won't do anything in low ranks except narrow the hero roster. Not stop oppressive heros. Anything is opressive if played correctly against players that don't know how to play properly.
ive seen someone playing grandmaster 1 playing a heal bot raccoon making the worst plays ive seen putting his ult and infinite ammo in the worst places somehow messing up the healing with the right click dying alot sure it takes skill to climb but its mostly how much free time you have
I remember when overwatch came out. I played at one point and hit many ranks up until top 500. Literally didn't care about my rank at either end of the spectrum.
I agree, I struggled to get out of bronze last season I realized I was getting paired with ALOT of people that don’t play their rolls correctly costing the team the ranks, this season now I’m a silver 1 I noticed silver 2 an up so far people really start to figure out their rolls it’s crazy and it’s a bit easier to move up the ranks now. I can only imagine the competition once I hit gold 3 when everyone really starts to know their rolls
I've been so lucky to have gone on massive win streaks and getting up to diamond 1 with little resistance both seasons. Without bans it's such a different game.
Gold 1 player on PC but mainly started playing on PC about 2 years ago on Destiny 2. I played a ton of overwatch on Xbox and was mainly a Zarya main. I’m more of a flex player in this game but I would say shockingly I probably play tank the worst currently. Most of my games have been solo queue this season with only one night where I had a dedicated 3 man team with comms. Your videos have definitely helped me understand the game more and learn about “metas” and team comps! My overwatch experience definitely has helped with this game for overall game sense and knowing what a winning and losing push looks like. Keep up the great content!
Long story short, I was stuck in Silver and had a tilted moment where I thought all the hours I spent meant nothing. Shrugged it off, played with my stack, and am slowly going through Plat. These stats are crazy.
The game already tells you this though, this ain't news. When you rank up it tells you "You are above XX.XX% of the playerbase" or something along those lines
But is no one else bothered by the rank distribution in MR? Almost every competitive game got a bell curve distribution. Even if you've only played QP you would still be somewhere on the bell curve. Meanwhile imo in MR they artificially make you climb and work for it instead of placing you near where you belong.
I see quite a few people saying that they were x rank in overwatch but higher in marvel rivals and the reason for this is simple. An anology: professional athletes in the bottom 10% (when compared to other proffesionals in their field) would probably be in the top 0.1% when compared to amateurs and the general population. You can’t just assume that gold on overwatch = gold on marvel rivals when you are dealing with 2 different audiences/playerbases. It would be like saying low division PRO football players are the same as low division AMATEUR football players. The difference might not be that extreme for MR and OW but you get the idea. I’m interested if anyone might have other insights on why this is so feel free to reply.
Yeah, I agree, and I came to that same conclusion after I created an alt and reached GM3 within 12 hours this season. My peak was GM4-GM5 on all roles, but my strongest role was dps. I played a lot of tracer, so on my alt, I decided to otp star lord. Of course, hes busted right now, but even in GM3 (and I’m almost GM2 now), the matches feel significantly easier than in ow. I think it’s because, in marvel rivals, there are fewer hard counters compared to ow. At most, you might face a soft counter, and overall, a large majority of the roster is strong in its own way. Sure, some characters rank higher than others, but on an absolute level, any character can take over a match if played well. Like star lord, for example, he doesn’t really have a hard counter (only maybe hela), and his kit is really strong. Meanwhile, in ow, I could play tracer in diamond and carry games, but if the enemy picks cassidy, it becomes much harder to maintain that same level of dominance.
@ yeah lack of hard counters does make things feel easier too. Do you not find namor annoying to deal with on starlord though? As a psylocke, spidey main he is very annoying for me lol. Try to ban him every chance I get haha
You need to add the percentiles on all the right columns for those stats to add op. I wouldn't mind being in the top 5% in plat, but I can tell you that plat 2 is only top 10% as of today. Plat 2 was top 7,5% some days ago. It literally tells you when you rank up and the percentages change over the course of a season because more people rank up :)
Dont gas these players. If you can't get out of bronze, you're probably terrible, git gud. If you're in silver, well... you at least made it outta bronze. If you're gold, you're ATLEAST competent and showing some awareness of the game you're actually playing. Plat and up, the difference in skill starts showing by who can make less mistakes and capitalize on the enemy's, resource management, space taking and other macro skills, over mechanical skills.
I had to grind so hard to get into silver so I understand where you are coming from. Now that I am in silver, this feels like it is perfect for me. I'm still trying to reach gold but also in OW I was a plat level player. This game is completely different.
While this message feels good, I think you're overrated compared to how you would rank in a game like Overwatch because you receive more points for a win than what you receive for a loss. So a group of equally skilled players playing against each other over and over, will continue to rank up. Maybe it's just a feature they need for the early seasons, or maybe they've realized that it is good for player retention if you continue levelling up in rank. At some point, though, it will create extreme rank inflation (depending on decay, resets, and other factors).
I was G3 last season. After I got the skin, I stopped. The reset put me in B3, which felt horrible. I got to B1 and quit after bad games. I’ve procrastinated and have been playing OW2 comp instead. At least I earn comp points there. Eventually, I’ll play to get the skin again. They really shouldn’t have deranked me that much. Grinding ranks sucks.
That’s actually wild. I ended season 0 in GM 2 and currently diamond 1 (haven’t really had time to grind much). I did not consider myself that good lol. I honestly felt I was a little above average to be honest.
The nature of how it rewards wins and losses means that it’s hard not to climb out of bronze and Silver if you keep playing: 40 points for a win, lose 20 for a loss means you can stay at your rank with a 33% win rate and that’s before the rank protection thing kicks in. I had a rancid day last week where I went 3-10 (all everybody else’s fault obviously ;) ) and only dropped from the bottom of silver 3 to bronze 1. You can climb up through gold with a 50% win rate.
Yep, glad to see another person that understands that ranked encourages you to climb, whether or not you're good, and you're only silver and I'm sure you can get out eventually if you just keep grinding.
You know, I think a part of that has to do with the battle pass missions where they have you play specific heroes. Let's be real, there are some heroes that I'm not going to take into ranked, but I want to grind those battle pass prizes
Skill isnt consistent, its dependent on focus. I can either absolutely dominate and lock tf in, or i can feed over and over. Not everyone in GM is gonna play at 100% skill every game
This game has tons of boosted players. I think significantly more than overwatch. I could just think that cause you can actually view their history and see. I get bots in GM and after game I view their history (some have private which is obvious cause no one gives af about your games if you aren’t t500) and almost always they have big win streaks with a 4 stack boosting them and then derank when they play alone. TONS of boosted players in this game lol
Grandmaster Player opinion here but, if you have the skills to reach gold. Then IMO u have everything it takes to reach Eternity. Unlike alot of teambased shooters like overwatch, Valorant etc. being mechanically skilled isnt a die hard necessity in Rivals as it is those other titles. Its kinda like the reverse of overwatch where there are TONS of trash players in masters and GM, but because they average 60% aim on widow then they are able to climb effortlessly despite ONLY being good at aiming. But in Rivals the game is much more mobile so the punisher and Hella mains dont get as much success because there are litterally like 12 diffrent heros that can make their lives a living hell from mobility alone. If you want to climb then just learn what counters what, and teach yourself that all you need to do is try to help your team as best possible to get the job won. Need a specific player? Go that player? Need to dive? Go dive, need to peel, do it yourself. The reality is that ALL ranks have a ton of garbage players. I see them in GM on a daily basis. Thats because the engagement based matchmaking is always trying to mess with your dopamine receptors to play more under the illusion that its skill based. U wanna climb? Be the change u wanna see
marvel rivals will ban people for throwing my matches, and message me confirming it… but still, my rank goes down and down and down. because of the rank reset, the ranked system is BROKEN upon arrival man. it’s impossible to rank up with these teamates man. and if you 6 stack, then you fight agai and streamers and devs lmfao jesus. i’ll never get my diamond back. what a rank reset
These numbers are insane if true. I touched the bottom of Celestial this season, and am consistent in staying in high GM. It's hard for me to believe them because I am only able to get Diamond 2 in OW2 on Support and DPS. I assumed I'm getting high ranks because of the distribution of the player community coming from many different games and I am surviving with my hero-shooter knowledge from Overwatch. Yet, why are there not many many more players above me with the same story? Diamond is only top 10-20% in OW2.
It’s wild that part of the game is only applicable to the top 10% of players right now. I mean I don’t really see myself being smart enough to strategize a good character ban anyway but it’s just interesting to see how few people are ranking up
I breezed through plat but once I got to Diamond, I started getting one tricks on my team who were either amazing or total dead weight on the team. Jeff OTPs, Scarlet OTPs, etc. More often than not they were costing us the game. I go check their profiles after the game and these people are hitting Diamond while having a winrate below 50%. Definitely feels like something is wrong with the ranked system if that's possible. You get people at high ranks just because they play a ton, apparently.
Made it to GM a few hours ago, i think my biggest fear while praying has been damn have i been carried this whole time? I main magik and she relies on tanks to well tank, but if the tanks are good 9/10 times i win games and get mvp but ive generally not felt like ive been stuck at a rank since i have like 60 games played in comp
As a bonus, think of all the people who don't play Rivals, or the people who just don't game at all. You're also likely way better than the Pope, which you can legally rub in the face of Catholics everywhere. Kidding aside, its true, anytime you try to learn how to be good at something, your initial efforts alone put your miles ahead of the people who never bothered, and there's real value in that I think. At least mentally I feel like it helps me not feel bad about being a beginner at things, and makes me want to keep learning.
Well dang I was under the assumption that hitting plat just meant that I was above average and I was fine with that. But knowing I'm on the higher end of competitve players is a pretty dope thought.
I'm GM 2 on PC rn, when I ranked up it said "top 99.75%". I honestly thought the % were fake, seeing how many content creators are GM+ I don't enjoy competetive as much as I'd like, but that's due to player behavior mainly. People will throw quite easily, so if the games don't start off well it can ruin the next 20 minutes. I enjoy the game more after learning more heros tho, recently picked up Strange and he's insane.
Best thing this game could do is make a que for solo/duo and then make another que for 3+ stacks. The issue in higher elos (currently 0.05%) is as a solo que player the game will sometimes put me in games with 3+ stacks to avoid high que times which is completely unplayable and distorts skill levels at high elos. In short, copy the most successful competitive esport, league.
You're missing some key points when interpreting the data: 1. The fact that Bronze 3 encompasses not only true Bronze 3 players, but QP only players as well, makes calling Diamond players top 5% or whatever entirely meaningless because there are likely some very skilled players with the potential to place higher. You are actually WORSE than what the game is telling you. 2. Chrono shield is artificially negating 25% of your losses in Bronze through Gold, which is probably why you see another spike at Plat 3. This data would be 1000% more useful if they figured out a way to disregard the QP only block from B3.
this is why they are making controversial balance changes like wolverine. 95% of the playerbase suck with him, they aren't balancing around the top 5% of players
There should be placement matches for ranked, cuz once you reach diamond and it says you’re higher than 99.9% if players or whatever the hell it tells you, it doesn’t really mean anything when like 50% of those players you’re “higher” than are people who either A. Don’t even play ranked, or B. People that have an account but they don’t even play the game. Obviously my percentages are pulled out of my ass and not accurate at all but you get my point. There’s so many people that don’t touch ranked so being higher than “95%” of people means nothing. The real flex actually comes from reaching top 500 or one above all. But I have seen people talk about being hardstuck silver or even bronze and that just surprises me because I feel like those are the ranks where just basic game sense and fundamentals carry you the most and you can get out of them pretty quickly. Everyone is different though.
Honestly I don'd know what to think about it. I know that OW skill translates to this game but i peaked at GM3 season 0 even though I had max low plat in OW. It's hard for mr to think I deserve it. I played solo though so I guess i do lol
Gold players on overwatch are more skilled than gold players on marvel rivals and might be high plat level on marvel rivals, (or perhaps higher) for example. I really hope we get a rivanalyzed (or something better branded) from him, I loved those in OW~
I’m diamond 1 atm on console.
After a tier up the game tells me you’re ranked higher than 98~99% of all players.
@@LoveKasumin1253doubt it, i play controller on pc and do just fine, rivals is more about game iq and positioning than raw aim
@@LoveKasumin1253You’re saying that 95% of players on PC can beat the top 1% of players on consoles? You’re delusional.
Diamond on console is like gold on pc
I just hit plat 3 solo q, I’m so proud of my self
Damn good work, who do you main?
I main peni
Same here, but been stuck in plat 3 for 2 days now
Great work meep!
I went from plat 3 to gold 3 for swapping and trying other characters :/ now i went back to peni and im in gold 1, games algorithm is weird @Michael-i7t6p
This graph doesn't take into account stacking inflation. Stacking in this game is broken
Including duo queue or like 3+?
Sorry you don’t have friends… Seriously though, when you play ranked add people that you worked well with.
@@NotGahruveyBut *if* you're playing solo, and a stack annihilates you, games shouldn't be too harsh on the solo player, imo.
not realy because stacks play against stacks if its 3+ thats why it takes more time in queue for stacks
@@Xiatter i can understand that, however that is the risk of solo. I do understand the struggle. I typically run with a stack, when I solo I get the short bus riders.
Made sense why diamond 1 feels so hard this season. Gm 1 last season was so easy
it’s so odd in diamond
i get people with a 75 percent win rate they got to diamond but they were awful i put them on my avoid list and farmed them for wins:
A good Hawkeye will still run the lobby like crazy.
how do you know diamond 1 feels so hard this season. stop inappropriately touching diamond!
If youre in plat 3 for example - You must add all the percentages to the right of it to see what percentile you are in out of the ranked pool
Yeah he made that mistake a lot in this video. It kinda makes his points invalid cause he'll say you're in the top 10% when you're really in the top 30%
Currently plat 2. I only play comp because I likr the structure of it. People really striving to win and not goof around
In my team a dude did not get moon so he picked widow and just ran around the spawn area 😂 but we still won cause we were Lucky the enemy team sucked🤣
Sty made a whole video to glaze himself being in Diamond 😂
just kidding bro love ya 🫰

Tbf he is a good player he was gm/masters on overwatch
@@kash_6115 oh for sure and hes good at Rivals. Im just playing around
I climbed thru gold and plat in beta, s0, and s1.
I think gold and plat are harder to climb thru than diamond or gm lol
Just hit diamond. My record was worse in gold than platinum. Gold teammates suck 😂
What this data is actually showing is that ranking up is just a matter of grinding, at least up to Plat, and beyond that it mostly likely comes down to who is spending a lot of time grinding while also stacked. In a month, the numbers will be massively higher than they are now.
I solo queue I’m currently celestial rn and the games a wildly different
But for the most part, it all seems the same to me
Pc player btw
But shouldnt one above all be the 500 highest players ranks regardless of rank
Like in league, challenger is the first 300 player in master and grand master are the next 300.
I reckon console distribution would be even more heavily skewed to the lower ranks since console is typically a more casual platform.
Console is full of players that don’t understand the game in lower ranks.
Thanks Sty! Now I will continue to throw as spiderman in Gold III
Hit celestial 3 the other day and I don’t feel particularly like a pro, persistence and fixing mistakes is all I did
It’s season one still early in the game. These numbers will change. Platinum will probably won’t be as rare as the game continues.
It's not, climbing in Rivals is significantly easier than OW. There's many reasons for it but it's objectively easier.
the best coaches will always tell you, you're the only constant in all you're games.
@jasonsherman3708 aaaah gotcha - but it's hard to know who's really trying and who just sucks

Xbox and PS5 are in the same pool, just in case anyone on PC is wondering~
Im in plat 2 and it took TREMENDOUS HARD WORK. players in this tier are beasts tbh. i feel less bad to be in plat 2 now lol
true. and what's funny is that, i was top 200 EU in Overwatch (early seasons), and now in Marvel Rivals, im "only" platinum.
i can easily go 55/15 K/D, and still lose games, its crazy :D
this game is hella odd tbh, i never really was a competitive player in OW nor did i even play it that much (only about 100 hours in all of OW1 and 2) but with my duo friend I went on a 16 win streak tonight and soared from gold 1 to diamond 3 in a single night, yet getting through silver and gold was absolutely rough and it took us days to climb out of. wondering if we can keep this up through diamond as well but im a bit afraid of having the ban system start rearing its head now lol
I'm GM and the variety in skill among this rank is mind numbing....
@@RockAli22 That is absolutely true. But I also believe that there is a fair share of boosting, buying accounts and tilt queuing in the mix.
I'm soloing ranked for the skin and it's actual hell, I missed the moon knight skin last season and I'm hard stuck bouncing between bronze and silver 😫
Solo queuing sucks and its a nightmare
You can get to Grandmaster with a negative winrate if you have the time to play enough games. It's because the game awards you with more rank points for wins than losses up until a certain point. So I don't fully correlate rank with skill level until you're about GM1 or above.
Plat is also a unique rank, and IMO the most stressful, because it’s just the wild west. It’s the only rank where you neither have Chrono shields, nor do you have Hero bans. So, there’s just a bunch of people straight up abusing Metas, and there’s no protection if you lose to that abuse.
Hulk Strange Iron Man

Last season it was NOTHING but Hela, Hawkeye, Strange. I was RAGING!!! 😭
Hero bans should be a part of the whole damn game
That's the biggest people want role lock imo if you add hero bans and lower ranks ban luna clock 90% of their complains disappear
@@tommc1920or people can try to learn new heroes instead of 1 tricking.
But what’s interesting is that you sometimes get teammates in your lobbies and you start to wonder how the HELL did they reach plat.
ive seen someone playing grandmaster 1 playing a heal bot raccoon making the worst plays ive seen putting his ult and infinite ammo in the worst places somehow messing up the healing with the right click dying alot sure it takes skill to climb but its mostly how much free time you have

Plat was really hard to get through, but as soon as I hit diamond it was smooth sailing back to GM. A bit weird isn't it? 😅
Because most players in diamond are very competent.
@@iiZZOY No not even close, they just finally know the basics, making essentially less RNG for better players.

@@Xiatter I thought so for .5 seconds until I thought how it would be reeeeeally bad if they were lying and the lie would have come to light very fast
But is no one else bothered by the rank distribution in MR? Almost every competitive game got a bell curve distribution. Even if you've only played QP you would still be somewhere on the bell curve. Meanwhile imo in MR they artificially make you climb and work for it instead of placing you near where you belong.
This makes me realize that Pm2g is a top 500 scarlet witch
Xbox player here, struggling to stay in Gold 2, so it's nice to hear I am playing kind of well
I see quite a few people saying that they were x rank in overwatch but higher in marvel rivals and the reason for this is simple.
Totally agree that skins are way better incentives than a questionable weapon tints.
I got so close to gm 3 last night, then proceeded to lose 6 games straight. 😢
Bro me too went on a 8 game loss cus I crashed out saying “surely I won’t lose another” from D2 to plat 1
Diamond makes you in the top 2.3% of all ranked players based these numbers.
On console when I hit plat3 it told me that im ranked higher then 90% of the people serverwide (im in Australia)
So your onto something as always! ❤
I mean Console has Console only, if your smart playing on Console you would make sure to keep that mode checked
Thank you for assuring me that my struggle to solo through Gold 3 doesn't necessarily mean I'm terrible at the game. 👍
I generally don’t play ranked in hero shooters (bad experiences from OW1), but I am willing to put a lot of effort into getting into more ranked play.
It says I'm Rank Bronze 3, but I only play PVE.. ?! It shouldn't even have a tier!
The rank reset didn't help. Ranked is a mess. It'll fix itself over time, but only if they don't reset again
You know, I think a part of that has to do with the battle pass missions where they have you play specific heroes. Let's be real, there are some heroes that I'm not going to take into ranked, but I want to grind those battle pass prizes
Honestly, in my gm games i question how a lot of people got there in the first place by how bad they play
Skill isnt consistent, its dependent on focus. I can either absolutely dominate and lock tf in, or i can feed over and over. Not everyone in GM is gonna play at 100% skill every game
1 word…. Stacking I’m celestial and sometimes I see players in the enemy team that are easier to farm then plat players
There is no ''When you load competitive'' the game puts you in bronze 3 regardless if you ever play or not 'case there is no placements
I mean I don’t really see myself being smart enough to strategize a good character ban anyway but it’s just interesting to see how few people are ranking up
Top 2%
haha good video, I have already given up on ranking up to gm from diamond, next season will be my season (famous last words)
Just hit gm and climbing, now I got an ego boost thanks!
I knew i was better than my rank and it was all my teams fault that I keep losing, thanks Sty.
Sadly I question how some of my teammates got up to Platinum. Since even then you occasionally find players that don’t know the basics of the game.
5:58 it does though because the game will be balanced based on meta and strength at the highest ranks. I see your point but
It will Not be guarantee this way
@MikeLeitner ?
I love Ranked. It's the only mode you truly play the game as intended.
Stylosa definitely made this video after being hardstuck in platinum lol
Usually I've never been good at hero shooters but i was so happy with myself when i hit plat 2 the other day, glad to see that means something 😂
I showed this to my friends yesterday. Theyre discouraged because they’re plat stuck right now.
I’m Diamond 2
I thought that little number at the bottom of the screen was just inaccurate. I got a huge aura boost from this.
Plat 1 console. I needed to hear this. Thank you.
lol why is Luna ulting into her own invisible woman ult? 😂
Bro why are there so many scarlet witches? Like I see one every other game and they never swap.
1:20 ahhhh, the destruction of the team from within. Hate to see it 😂 (game chat)
But knowing I'm on the higher end of competitve players is a pretty dope thought.
xbox and playsation are in the same pool, I've played ranked games with xbox players while playing on PS5
nah this is actually so incorrect. remove bronze 3 and the "I'm in plat I'm top 5%" goes right out the window.
I'm GM 2 on PC rn, when I ranked up it said "top 99.75%". I honestly thought the % were fake, seeing how many content creators are GM+
I don't enjoy competetive as much as I'd like, but that's due to player behavior mainly.
You're missing some key points when interpreting the data:
So I'm better than celestial 3?
Gold 1 is top 17% on Xbox. How do I know? I got there 2 days ago.
this is why they are making controversial balance changes like wolverine.
This is why hidden mmr to "get more players into ranked" is a complete failure across the board. Silver should never be an above average rank
I'm currently Celestial 3 peaked Eternity 100 last season and still feel like I'm garbage. Its just something that happens no matter what elo you on.
Honestly I don'd know what to think about it. I know that OW skill translates to this game but i peaked at GM3 season 0 even though I had max low plat in OW. It's hard for mr to think I deserve it. I played solo though so I guess i do lol
Gold players on overwatch are more skilled than gold players on marvel rivals and might be high plat level on marvel rivals, (or perhaps higher) for example.
I’m interested if anyone might have other insights on why this is so feel free to reply.
