Such an artist. A super charismatic man with fantastic musical skills. Great, great band and this orchestra... Deliscious to watch and listen to.

I'm one of those people that have never listened to David Townsend, and I have no idea why not. This was great, so I am going to go explore.

Used to love Strapping Young Lad, never really got into his own stuff at the time because it was more technical and I was just a teenager. Really appreciate it more now.
Didn't realise he did gigs with an orchestra, but it makes sense given his talent. Will have to check out more of this show

I have been a DT fan for several years now and particularly liked his collabs with Anneke Van Giersbergen! This whole concert that we got a glimpse of here was fantastic! Cheers Hedgy!

MASSIVE fan since Vai, the bloke is indeed a genius, but devastatingly underrated worldwide. I'm a music journalist, and I've interviewed him probably a dozen times over the last 20-odd years, completely down to earth, non-rockstar-ish fellow.

So, I wonder, do metal people go to this guy just for the metal bits, operatic people just for the operatic bits and symphonic people just for the symphonic bits? (btw I'm a fan of opera, symphonies and metal) Eclectic and genre-spanning is all well and good but I tend not to gravitate towards performers who try to be all things to all people. If that 'wall of sound' that we've just heard was written by him, as I'm sure it was, then I'm prepared to use the 'g' word to describe the sheer creativity...but when choosing my cups of tea, Devin T just isn't for me. Sorry Hedgy.

That's ok, you can't be right all of the time.

@peterkarargiris4110 he's on record plenty of times as saying (paraphrased) his music reflects the moments in life, state of mind that were current at the point of writing, but also personal ambitions etc. Quite the opposite to wanting or trying to be all things to all people, he's doing it all for himself, and if people want to join him on the journey then great. But he understands that everyone who has had exposure to his music thus far, may not be so enthusiastic about future music. Nothing wrong with the conclusion you have reached. By personal ambitions, he's more or less finished an opera (which I think he has been spending years hoping to do) and that gets performed (with full orchestra and choir) on March 27th and 28th in Groningen, NL. I'll be at both performances.. 😁

@andyh3873 Kudos to the guy and I have the greatest respect for him. I remember years ago when Philip Glass was the flavour of the month - I gave his work a go and moved on.
