It's interesting that your unusual trees like these and the baobabs etc have become some of the videos that I enjoy the most. They're quite mad but loads of fun
this is where a greenhouse really helps. despite defoliating, trunk chops, and and terminal bud removing - i have yet to get branching. i just get new leaves, and the plant continues to grow upward. have even done this in very high humidity periods
I haven’t watched many of your videos but really enjoyed Peter’s video visiting your garden. It is inspiring to seeing how you challenge what can be a bonsai. I’m definitely going to be keeping a closer eye on your projects. Thank you.
So excited to know I can make this into a bonsai too! Still faint of heart with pruning since the cutting took a whole yr to root and grow but I think its tall enough now for its first chop
Love what you’re doing with these rubber trees, good sir. And fantastic news on your grapefruit! It sure was pouting for a while! I’m growing one and have been studying your videos, very relieved your tutorials will continue!
I didn't know you could do that with rubber trees ! I cut the top off one of mine to get it to branch out a bit and rooted the top in water. The roots came out in the most perfect radial pattern which made me think of you haha. Sadly I am moving to a different country soon so won't be able to try and make it into a bonsai 😭
Nice tree nigel your one of my inspiration in doing bonsai❤❤❤❤ ahmm. where did you buy your bonsai root rake? can you send me the link of the store or any info about it. Thankyou nigel
Sad to hear that, 😢 i really like it i hope i can find one someday, i search online and i cant find the same as your rake, well anyways thanks nigel, keep inspiring people like me and doing what you love❤❤👍☺️
Every time you say "back to the front" I hear Metallica in my head. Not sure if you're a fan 😂 interesting bonsai. I like that you experiment with the unusual.
Nigel, I'd love to get your advice. My rubber tree lost some leaves from my dog's doing, and it began growing from the bottom as well as the top. Recently, the top has stopped growing, and I'm wondering if it's best for the plant if I lop it off? I want to do what's best for the health of the plant, but I'm very inexperienced. I would love to share pictures with you and get advice, if possible. Thanks!
At 4:10 i see something that looks like a swamp cypress do you have made already a video of it or is the video still in progress? Also the Backpruning on your Rubber trees made them look realy nice thanks for the Video Nigel👍
They are simple beautyfull trees, I had the privilege of see centenary trees of that in some cities I leave. But, Brazil cities are not famous for preserve his trees, so most of then are cut down in totaly desrespect 😢 for nature. It's a shame for us, but It's the true. maps.app.goo.gl/xQr5rMjsTKWxWbyB7
I would never have thought those leaves will get any smaller than how they were....😮amazing..
I've followed these odd ficuses for years. Thanks for keeping us updated 🙏

Great collection of Ficus Elastica, Nigel!
Many thanks for featuring your rubber tree plantings. Hope they 'bounce' back from the pruning 😊
I hope so too!
I love this one! Ficus Elastica is such an unusual one for Bonsai! Its amazing how small some of them leaves are now 😀🌱
I'm really liking the rubber trees Adam, I'm still not sure what they will look like years into the future, but I hope something special!!
Those are beautiful with the dark leaves! Happy new about the grapefruit!!

I'll try and help!
I love how Nigel gives zero fucks for zombie apocalypse :D
How would you propagate those cuttings?
I just stick them deep in bonsai soil, keep them watered and they usually root!
Foist
Nicely done 👍
What’s your recommendation on propagation of cutting’s of this species.
I just stick the branch in a pot and usually they root in a couple of weeks. I always do this in summer!!!
